Eagerly awaiting my MW! USPS says it should be here tomorrow but I am planning on Saturday. I hope it does come tomorrow...day off of everything! No job #1 or job #2 or school! It's almost miraculous, so if it does come, it will get a HUGE work out. :)

Can't wait to test it out! I am going to go head to head with my EQ, so we will see how they stack up. I will try and enlist the help of a buddy to I can get some video.

MW clothes! You could make some sick stuff......

Stuffed animal cover similar to a golf club cover would be funny!

LOL I love the idea of MW clothes! I had originally made plans to have my relative sew little fleece covers that would slide over the wand so you could pick it up but I wasn't sure about how people would feel having it hanging on their cord whenever it was off, and I don't know if fleece could stand up to constant contact with the kind of heat range the MW has. If anyone has any ideas for MW clothes I'd love to hear them (or see them!).

Thank you to all of you for posting on here, and a special thank you to everyone who has bought a HiPi product and come to share your experience with everyone. I really enjoy the feedback from the community, and the creativity that is generated here is awesome!

You guys have inspired to create a "Tips and Tricks" list based on the feedback I have read here and from my own experience.

1. For shorter heat up time first make sure the material is in the bowl then leave the MW on the bowl as it heats up so the glass heats up with it. Also turning the dial on full blast and then later turning it down to the green light or slightly above/below depending on your experience.
2. For milkier/thicker clouds of vapor cover the hole at the top of the wand lightly with the palm of your hand.
3. If you leave your unit on in the upright position for long periods of the time the whole wand will get got due to the rising heat. Keep a cloth or oven mit near by just in case!
4. If your bud still looks like its got some juice in it but isn't producing clouds, turn the heat up slightly and if you've got a stirrer near by stir it up and hit it again.

I feel like I may be forgetting something...

If you can think of any others please post them! :)

One thing I would mention as a tip would be to always have a designated place to put the wand (a coffee mug or something similar works nicely).

Ok so I have decided to put up a MW sale that is open to everyone not just FC members

I call it the "Get The Rent $$" Sale LOL just kidding

But for those who are wanting a MagickWand but just couldn't get up enough scratch for the Retail price I would highly recommend checking it out. We only have enough parts for 13 more units before the MW's will be on temporary back order until our glass comes in.

Thank you again for all of your support!

Alright, so I got my MW just a few moments ago and tried it out. I like the unit and its a nice piece. Its quality work and looks and feels nice. The knob on the unit feels like it could be more solid, but a gentle turn is all you need in the first place. It heats up quick and was ready to go in the advertised 5 minutes. I had a small concern that the bowl was going to be a little too big by looking at pictures and for my use, I think the bowl is too big. I also don't like how the screen moves around and actually lets particulates through around the edges. With that said, the unit functions as advertised. I'm not really getting huge clouds or thick hits, but to be fair, I think thats a bowl size issue and not the actual vaporizer.

More to come as I experiment with the unit.

OKay, so I put another little pinch in the bowl and turned the dial up just a smidge. Starting to see some clouds now. The unit does get pretty warm to the touch...will wrap same gauze or something around it. Works great.

VAPOLITICS!
So, as I am a guy who loves clean glass and likes easy to use vapes, I had to do my little MOD on my MW, 'cause the screen is not the best part and I had a lot of particulates on my glass walls/in the water after a few days...
I decided to use my usual Vape MOD letal weapon:
The NO2 mesh gauzes:
http://www.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=...ty=76&sqi=2&page=1&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0
So, with a pen I inserted the gauze in the bottom of the MW's 14 mm. bowl, and gave it a reversed dome screen shape (like the arizer elbow screen, the dome is inside the glass). Just don't forget to leave a little part of the mesh accessible and outside of the glass, to pull it out easily!

This makes "glass" hash collection much easier and much more consistent (the trichs are not falling in the water), your glass stays much cleaner/much longer, AND (I didn't thaught about that ability) restricts perfectly airflow to the point the "hand tip" is no more usefull!
Please try it guys, and give me your feedbacks! ;)

Yep Caseball, it's the same principle... the only different thing is the position and the fact the gauze has really thin holes (similar to the MF screen for example) and lets nothing go through... Really nice MOD man!

I'm liking the ingenuity here guys. Are the screens you used Caseball the same type of NO2 mesh gauze screens?

I am definitely going to do a little investigating on these and grab some to try out. If all goes well these may become the new standard of screens sent out, especially if it proves to enhance efficiency of the product!

[h]revelation[/h]
I've had the mw for a few days now and i love it. So far most if not all of my sessions have been .1 or above, but last night I tried a .05 out( a max loaded mz stem or a modest lb trench), and it definitly got me super high, but in a different manner than i'm used too. i don't know why, but i've always gone for the thickest, densest vapor i could achieve, and i still love that, but it was an interesting change of pace to reach a familiar place via an alternate route. The first thing i noticed is that while i was exhaling plenty of vapor when i blew my hit in the light, the vapor looked and felt pretty thin, especially compared to what my mz can do with a similar amount. however the taste was spectacular, and what i really loved is how long the taste and .05 lasted. I was able to get at least 5 or 6 tasty hits(i think, i wasn't really counting and i was vaked) , and more that had diminished flavor, and after a half hour and a bunch of rips i was nice and toasty, right where i like to be.

i really like the act of vaping, especially when the flavors there. being able to take 3 times as many hits, but not get 3 times as high is actually a good thing for me sometimes. i get to hit my glass more, and thats fun. i like the process.the ritual. sometimes i'm not ready to stop vaping, but im already super high and i don't want more.

[h]mw comparisons[/h]

vs ssv: i greatly prefer the wand for ease of use, flavor, heat retention and consistency of temp. while i love my ssv, it's served me well for 5 years now, my only gripe is that sometimes my heating element or heater cover will change their position and even though i turned my nob to the same spot i did last session, i'll be pulling way hotter air than last time and bam! combustion. this doesn't happen often, but when it does it sucks. i don't ever see this being an issue with the mw. plus, you can use a whip with the mw, but you can't use the ssv on glass or a hookah like you can with the mw.

.05 in my mz provides a very similar high but in fewer, more concentrated hits due to the significantly smaller size of the bowl and the airpath, its a much higher vapor to air ratio, but only the first hit taste really good, unlike the mw whichs provides way more tasty hits. i've never really challenged the mz in a group setting like i have the ssv, so i can't compare heat retention. i feel like these are complimentary vapes, each doing well what the other doesn't. I can't take a giant lung buster with the mz like i can with the mw, and the mw doesn't give rich hit off of smaller loads like the mz does.

completely different animal than the lb, so i won't compare. get them both. now.

i only had my extreme for a short while, long ago, so i don't really feel qualified to compare. if i had no vapes and had to pick one, i'd definitely go with the mw.

dominates the vapir air one and the vapor buddy, and i put both of those into the never buy for any reason ever category. they don't even deserve to be compared to the mw.

on the other side of this coin, i took three fatty rips on a .3+ an hour ago and i'm still super toasty :ko:

EDIT so as not to double post.

took some fatty rips on a .4 bowl. super tasty. super thick vapor. i hit the mw as hard as i could and it hit back! i took a few huge rips back to back to see if i could put a dent in the mw's heat but the last hit was just as powerful as the first, if not more so due to the heated bowl and herb. there's also almost zero drag added to my glass with the mw. lovin this thing.

my only two issues thus far: the unit gets really really hot on the bottom 2/3s. it's totally fine to hold at the top, even after having been on for 18 hours yesterday. but still, it could do some damage if you're not careful.

also, i've noticed that the screen isn't keeping all the bud particles in the bowl. i was hoping that once the screen got gunked up a bit it would kinda seal itself, but i use fresh water in my glass every day and i still see more bud particles in the water than with my other vapes. its not a lot, but more than i'm used to(almost none). not a huge deal.let me marinate on it for a couple days, i'll think of a solution. or maybe someone's already figured out a trick?

HiPi- any word on the bag blower? did you get my email about the custom bowl?

This is a pretty dope review! I didnt even read this before. BTW the screen needs to be upgraded to a larger size because the ones we give with the units are slightly too small to stop all particles.

Pulled the trigger earlier this afternoon...looking forward to testing the MW on my glass pieces, maybe add a picture or two to the above collection. :)

Will definitely be looking into the screen 'mod.'

Hipi,
How can I upgrade to the larger screen size? I have the same problem with my original screen. Can you send me one or can I purchase one from you? Or is it a common size that I can pick up at my LHS?

I purchased a bulk pack of 1" screens from the bay. They fit PERFECT. I think the QC on the screens Hipi sent out wan't the best. Not his fault. At least the one I had was about a mm shy of 1". The new ones don't wiggle around or let particulates through like the original one. A little tricky to insert...I did the "flip" thing like with an SSV wand to get one in place. (They were only about $7.00 shipped for 100.)

Since this has been a problem for a few different people I will go ahead and order some new screens today to send out with the units. I will let everyone know when I get some and then I can work something out with those who need them.

Makes me wish I was in the Bay still I could probably just head on over to berkeley and get some. But as of now in Az the internet is my best friend.

I'm going to check out some new 1in screens and also those mesh gauze screens as well.

I actually took both screens i got and put them in the bowl. Very little particulates come through now and the screen stays in place much better.

Relaxin'
Can't wait to see that bag blower video. I'm also very interested in a more snug screen or gauze too. Right now I just put all three of the screens that were sent in at once, stops most particulate but a bit still finds its way down.

In other news I just thought to use my Incognito handkit on my MW to direct draw, works ridiculously well. Huuuuuuuge clouds when the back is covered, same as hitting through a water pipe. Which brings me to my next inquiry.

Some kind of cork or plug for covering the back of the unit would be awesome. Let me know what you think about the idea. If I had some kind of cover for the back and a screen that was secure and stopped any and all particulates I wouldn't have a complaint left.

Alright, after a bit of a snafu (received a broken MW in the mail -emailed HiPi about it and he arranged an exchange) I've given the MW a good two week trial phase. Overall remarks echo what's already been said. In short, it's a great value vape, even if purchased without the FC/VIP deal (which I did).

REVIEW
I'd say the vape's biggest strength is it's flavor output. When set at the green light, I've been able to get a good 4-5 really tasty hits before little to no vapor is released, but that's the good thing about the temp dial, after the tasty hits just slowly bring the temp up to get all the higher temp cannabinoids.

Like the two other glass/ceramic vapes I've owned (DBV/SSV), efficiency -while certainly less than log style vapes- isn't that big of a concern. I think the biggest thing that affects efficiency is the fact that you're using perhaps 3-5 stems' worth of material. Generally when I'll hit the PD, I'll do 1-3 tubes (hitting each 3 times) which takes a bit longer (loading/clearing time) so my body has more time to feel the effects, and I stop (or, more likely, I forget what I'm doing and space out :ko:). With the MW, I'll just load one bowl, and be able to hit it I'd say 10+ times. I'll be destroyed, but it's probably about the same level as doing 5 tubes in a row. I've taken to loading a MW bowl, hitting it three times or so, then coming back and finishing the bowl after work/errands.

It does get pretty hot, however. I've worked in a kitchen before, and served at a restaurant for about 5 years. Combined with callouses from 23 years of playing string instruments, I've yet to actually burn myself, but I quickly learned to hold the MW by the silicone after the power cord. About 2" of the glass immediately below the the power cord (mine has a lighter bit of silicone here) is tolerable, but anything below that (culminating on the 2nd silicone ring) is nigh unbearable. I've had a couple chef friends who've had years at grills/fryers hold the MW and even they say it's pretty much untouchable, even at a low temp. Just one of the cons of having such a powerful ceramic element. The bowl retains some heat too, so taking care to allow it a bit of a cool-down after finishing up a session is recommended. Generally the handle on the bowl, and even the bit just under the screen is manageable, though.

The bowl is pretty light, but yesterday it stuck to the end of the MW and promptly fell about 2 feet onto a glass end table, bounced up and fell another 2 feet to the carpet. No harm done at all. I'll have to sand a little bit more of the lip around the adapter off, which I had to do when I received the new unit. Not a big deal, just took some 150 sandpaper and lightly turned the bowl on it, making sure to keep it even, and test the fit out often. Just something that came about by my not sending the adapter with the broken unit, so HiPi had nothing to test it with. Easy fix! :D

Last Impressions-
I decided to sell the SSV and gifted the DBV (it was gifted to me) after about a week of having the MW, because IMO they all fill the same niche. (ceramic element, at-home-with-glass vapes) I only used them with a GonG adapter and my glass anyway, and the MW just cuts out the whip. The MW absolutely shines in a group setting, which negates the efficiency issue to me...it's a very self-explanatory vape and doesn't scare people perhaps quite as much as the SSV/DBV/PD/MFLB. Very easy to explain the theory/practice of vaporization to a newbie when they have something comfortable like a nice glass piece in their hands, and they can see the plant material turn brown. Just warn 'em about the heat.
So my current line-up is as follows: PD for at home solo/in the car on roadtrips, MFLB for mobile use - concerts/longboarding/movies/etc, and MW for at home in a group/newbies.

Great work HiPi!

hey is there really life time warrenty on this? how extensive is the warrenty? i might have to go w/ this instead of the cloud for now, seein how ill save about 200+ even after i buy a new piece

to anyone who's had the pleasure of using both the vxc and the mw, can you compare the quality of the vapor (taste, density, etc) as thats the only thing iam going for

herbzzzzzzzz,
Iamkrazy had a VXC beta and a MW alpha and made some comparisons, either here or in the VXC thread. I think VXC had some real general advantages but the MW has an unbeatable price-to-quality ratio. I personally found it to be one of if not the most -flavorful- vape I've ever used, efficiency is high, form factor is attractive, etc..
