A question regarding smell

Alright, so I have a deal made with my current room mate who's letting me stay at his place that I can use the vaporizer, as long as he doesn't smell it. Yesterday, I got some kush, so obviously the smell is pretty strong and I was wondering if the smell comes from having the herb on the heating element or just from me exhaling my hits. Also, will it smell any stronger being vaped than normal weed? Thanks in advance

In my experience with apartments and in general, the grinding up of the herb is going to smell more than the vaporization, though all will be cumulative.

Should be fairly minimal. I agree with Carbon about the grinding having more of an effect than the actual vaping. I think whether you're ripping a big home unit or puffing on a portable is also going to make a difference. Still shouldn't be anything remotely close to smoking. If you're super worried, do it in a room with the door closed, or a fan running, or a window open, or a combination of the three.

Make sure both the fresh and the avp are stored in something smell proof (zip locks usually won't cut it, IME) like a 'locking' tupperware. If it's small enough, toss the vape (or wand/stem/tube/bag) in a similar container too when you're not using it. As Carbon said, the actual vaping, if it smells at all, will dissipate quickly. Oh yeah, and if it's a variable temp vape, lower temps = less odor, and vice versa, IME.

Here's are the types of containers I use for smell proofing: http://amzn.to/hFCUk4

It also depends on which vape you are using and how long a sesh lasts/how much you are vaping.

I can say for certainty that I can get away with using the MZ with no worries, but if the SSV comes out, its quite a bit more noticeable.

most exotics smell like crazy and need to be stored
in glass mason jars, or something else that is airtight.
Vaping is much less stinky than combusting, but a smell
will be released eventhough it dissapates quickly.
You may have to use "mids" that will not smell so much.
If you can quickly hit your herbs outside and then revape
inside, much of the odor will have been removed.

Keep your hits small and hold 'em to minimize odor on exhale. Your herb isn't actually on the heating element, no matter what you're using. If it's convection (likely), you're not getting a lot of heat except when you're hitting it.

Grind and pack somewhere else and if you have your own room sit by the window and blow the hits out. Grinding good weed is smellier than a one person vape sesh IMO, so once you get that outa the way the act of vaping is hideable.

If your seriously concerned about smell, simply get a window fan, place it in your window, and keep both fans blowing outside, so its sucking the air from the room outside, and then new air can come in from another room. thats all. and this isnt some 10 year old sploof nonsense. this is really the only way to RID the room of a smell, to take it outside, away from your inside room.

if you dont want to do that. Simply dont take big hits, and make sure to HOLD your vapor in for at least 10 seconds, longer if you want(just dont hurt yourself, I wouldnt hold past 30 seconds).

Keep your stuff sealed in a CLEAN glass mason jar, wipe down all surfaces where weed is prepared and wash your hands after coming into contact with it.

it also depends on which particular vape you are using, and how often.

The window fans and the washing of hands and surfaces
should really do the trick.
Grinding your herb some place else
is also a nice trick.
good suggestions folks! :brow:
