Ok so i'm a noobie here and about to purchase a MFLB and a grinder to go with it. Up until now i've just been hitting a gravity bong me and my roommate made and just breaking herb down with my hands. I want to switch to vaping now and i know the MFLB needs a really fine grind and don't know whats best for it (before you say anything i've searched...a lot! lol).

I can't choose between getting an old fashion grinder (i've settled on the medium 2pc space case) or getting a regular coffee grinder for the MFLB. The old fashioned grinder would def be more convenient as I live in a dorm and i'm limited with plugs and don't want to make a lot of noise at night but I don't know if if can grind the herb fine enough (salt like right?) for the MFLB.

On second thought, i guess a third option would be one of those sneak a vape credit card graters...ive seen several good reviews

PLEASE HELP! Thank ya!

2 piece grinders work great for LB. I dont know about the space case ones in particular, but I imagine they work as well as the ones i've used if not better, you should be able to get the herb very fine, as long as its dry enough of course. coffee grinder is highly unnecessary IMO, and most are probably harder to clean than a regular grinder and more trouble than they're worth.

I have a mflb and i dont use a grinder. Just break it up by hand. But those space case grinders do look sick. i put bigger pieces in the vape. take a few hits, then open it up and break it up, close it shake it around. its a nice little vape. very discreet and can be used anywhere. I will say though the space cases with the huge compartments for pollen look pretty sweet.

the 2 piece SC is a great grinder, perfect for the MFLB. The great thing about 2 piece grinders is the ability to grind it just how fine/coarse you want.

I have a medium 2 piece ti SC, and its perfect to grind herb for either my DBV, my PD, or my LB.

My MFLB experience was greatly enhanced when I got my coffee grinder. I'll never go back to traditional grinders. I can choose a coarser grind for my other vapes too.

I swear to god the best grinders are the ones that come with the volcano.

They are two piece and orange plastic, you can find them on ebay for 3 bucks or something and it beats every single otther grinder i have ever tried ever.

They are just made the right way and they grind to a fine even consistency, dont spend 20 bucks on a grinder when these cheap volcano grinders are the best, I even have 2 or 3 other grinders that are forgotten about because of this one.(and no i dont work for volcano or anything like that haha)

I got one of those plastic grinders for free when I bought my MFLB. So you might not even have to buy a grinder if that will work for you. To me its an extra grinder I can take with me and dont have to worry about losing or it breaking.

At home, I will stick to my mendo mulcher. I have had a space case and mendo and quite a few other grinders and will always lean towards my mendo mulcher. Made in the USA and it destroys your medication in just a few turns. You cant go wrong with one :) www.mendomulcher.com

I just got a 2" Mendo Mulcher on ebay for about $20 shipped (right from the maker). I would however advise to get the 3" (I think it's 29.99). The 2" is a little too small for my man hands and after grinding for more than 10 minutes my hands do begin to hurt a little bit. He does accept offers too. I would try offering a couple to three dollars less than his asking price.

My 2 piece space case works very well with the LB though after a few puffs you need to re-crumble and re-trench the load. The coffee grinder works phenomenally well with the LB :D

I prefer the coffee grinder personally as I get bigger hits and can skip the re-crumbling step.

i haven't had good luck with the coffee grinders. A small load of some fresh med and it made a mess and was sticky. maybe if I dried it more? but I think a 2 piece space case and crumbling is fine enough :) <3

I use my MFLB very often and I don't use a grinder, even though I own several including a coffee grinder. Grinders make things a lot easier and faster but are not necessary IMO. If you're willing to let your herb sit out for a day so it becomes dry and brittle then you can use your fingers with great luck. If you mind sticky fingers you might not like this method though, of course licking your fingers when your done is always an option. :)

So if you're like most college students, and would rather spend your extra cash on herb then give it a try.

thanks for all the replies guys. so out of curiosity, can a 2pc space case even get it to the "salt like" consistency if you grind it enough?

It depends what you mean by 'salt like' even packaged salt comes in different sized grinds.

I can get it pretty fine in my 2 piece.

A 2-piece can get you a perfect grind for the mflb. Go with the 2piece IMO. I have the mini 2piece from blissville which works awesome and was only 10$

george,
Does grinded herb lose potency after a bit? Like would grinding and storing it for a week or two degrade it at all?

well obviously its going to dry out a bit from grinding. Is this a bad thing? It really depends.

Shouldn't be an issue if you use within a few days.

I only grind as needed though. Usually grind as much as I usually use in day the night before.

I recommend you go with a two or three piece space case (or other brand of similar quality). Yeah they are expensive but they really are an excellent tool for the job and you will feel this daily little frisson of pleasure because the things you are touching are good quality. With reasonable maintenance these will last a long, long time.

This. I use a coffee grinder for everything and would never go back as well. You can easily get the consistency you want if you're careful. From nicely chopped by putting it in for a fraction of a second all the way to fine powder if you shake it.

i really like my 3 inch SC Ti to make it very fine. works well, but i do run it through the chromium crusher first to salvage some extra kief.
