Not on "The List" WOO HOO

My safety guy at work showed me the CDL list today at work & my name was absent! No UAs for me!

Here's a little history. I started smoking again last March after a 12 year hiatus due to alcoholism & getting strung out on crank. I really enjoyed it & was smoking about a quarter a week. I have a freind that produces medical grade bud, my favorite strain is the White Widow. After combusting for 6 months, I noticed my lungs were really getting clogged. I train for triathlons.

A couple months ago I was golfing with a coworker & he told me that anyone who had been reemburshed for the cost of renewing their CDL was automatically put into the DOT drug testing pool regardless of job title for emergency response. I immediately quit smoking & figured I had to wait a year & a half until I renewed again.

Today I asked the safety officer about it (knowing I can now pass a UA) & he was pissed about the policy. I asked him if I could get a peek a the list & he said sure. Lo & behold, I'm not on it. I called up my buddy & he said he was down to only stash until he crops in 2 weeks, so I have time to get a vape before I resume.

My wife knows all about this, but I pretend she doesn't to keep everything on the low down. She doesn't partake. I have a 7 year old son.

So, 99% of the time I get high, it's by myself. Descretion is my biggest concern. I don't want to spend a lot of money of a vaporizer right now. My 23 year old daughter has a Arizer with a remote, I told her that if she ever sold it to let me know first. I really liked it when I tried it, but it's not very convienient & I could only use it after everyone is in bed or gone.

I'm leaning toward the MFLB at this point, I would buy the AC cord after it goes on sale to the public.
I was wondering if there's any other brands I should be checking out. Any advice is appreciated.

In your situation, I would recommend a Launch Box and a MyrtleZap. Both of them are very discrete and the Launch Box allows you the degree of freedom that is unmatched, whereas the MyrtleZap provides satisfying clouds of vapor that the LB can't.

For discretion and a home unit, which seem to be the two biggest things you are looking for, check out log type vaporizers, such as the MZ and the PD. They have no settings or moving parts(where the 'log' comes from) and can be left on 24/7 due to their design and power usage.

These are by far the stealthiest units I have seen for home use, it has no text whatsoever to even track it back to anything. Not to mention they are all made with beautiful woods, which will nicely compliment your favorite piece of furniture.

Check them out. I do have a MFLB as well, and dont get me wrong, it is a great vaporizer! But it doesnt seem to suit you that well if you will never use it as a portable.

I will need portablity, I should have put that in my OP. I will probable get a home unit later that I can stash in the garage & drag out late at night of when everyone is gone.

Honestly our situations are kind of similar (family wise)

I have a 10 year old daughter, wife who doesnt partake (and still gives me shit on occasion) etc.

The LB will do you well with portability. Its small, discreet and packs a whallop. As far as your plug in unit for the house, I second the motion for a log based vape. You basically keep it on all of the time as its really 'hidden in plain sight' and ready when you are.

Then you should buy an SSV once you get accustomed to vaping. Come to think of it, I think EVERYONE should have an SSV in their arsenal. (Along with a MZ compliment it)

Yes, a log vape will do you nicely, PD/MZ/WDZ, doesnt really matter in the end, they all function the same. Out of all the vapes i've tried, it probably provides the fastest sessions overall. Another great thing about them is that they (at least my wdz doesnt) dont have product names or other writing on them, and since the stems can be stored separately, a person who stumbles across it will more than likely have no clue what it is.

I'm sometimes in a situation where i have only a couple minutes to get things done. being able to just pull the little wdz out from its spot deep in the back of a lower shelf on my desk and not having a warm up time is a huge improvement over other vapes. Theres no warm-up time with the LB either, but i find that it takes more hits and slower hits to get as good of vaporization, so that translates into more time.

Also, the log and LB will work great for you because you said you can get high quality bud. If this wasnt the case, they could actually take you longer because you might be loading multiple stems to get the effect youre looking for.

I'd say just read some threads and watch some videos of the vapes in action and go from there. If you need portability, the LB is pretty much a no-brainer IMO.

Quick question about the log type. Can you also use them for aroma therapy without fouling the taste? I'm still leaning toward the LB, but could justify the MZ as well if I can use it in plain site in my stinky basement.

yup, they come with multiple stems, just use one stem for THE herbs and one for others. And they all have aroma dishes that you can use to diffuse oils, to give them another honest purpose.

Mytlezap you wont regret it, and MFLB if you have the cash...

This is not correct. The MFLB has numerous comments describing thick cloudy hits if the proper technique is used. I've done it myself to prove that it could be done, but I think thick cloudy hits are wasteful, so not my preference.

I just ordered a Woodeez from Todd. The deal was too good to pass up. I'll probable get the MFLB later for a portable, but the more I thought about it, the only time I used a pipe was when I shouldn't, if you know what I mean. I'll see if I can keep my vaping at home for a while.

Next question, will a medium sized Space Case Ti 2 piece be big enough or should I get the large? I saw a thread mentioning a site discount on them, but couldn't find one. Anyone have a link or has that deal expired? If it has expired, should I use one of the Cali ebay venders? Thanks again for all the help.

A medium sized SC is perfect, I have the large version as well, and its just way too big.

Yes, I'm very lucky, everyone else I knew is either dead, crazy, in jail, or in very poor health. I saw the writing on the wall & got while the getting was good with most of my facilties intact. I knew that I could never drink again without sending my life into a downward spiral, but for years wondered if I could enjoy herb without losing it. I saw other people I knew in recovery taking the "medical marijuana" route & still maintaining. I looked into getting my card, but it would have cost several hundred dollars after jumping through all the hoops & visiting doctors. I discussed it with my wife & was suprised by her indifference. I decided to give it a go & really enjoy it.


It appears after going through some of the coupon codes & visiting the vender websites that ebay is still the cheapest route for my grinder due to the free shipping.

I would also highly recommend the glass genie as it seems to suit your needs fairly well. No warm up time, delicious hits that rival plug in vaporizers in size, and no noise except for the flick of a lighter (which can be avoided by lighting via candle). The MFLB is very nice as far as portability and ease of use is concerned, but when using it at home you may quickly find yourself disappointed in the light hits; especially considering your past history of combustion. I exclusively vape and don't like the light hits of the MFLB.

The Woodeez/PD/Myrtlezap are all excellent vaporizers but unless you can leave it plugged in 24/7 you are looking at a 30 minute warm-up time. These are just things to consider when purchasing your first vape. Hope you enjoy whatever piece you end up with!

The MFLB thread contains numerous comments about how to get thick clouds out of the LB, especially now that the power adapter has arrived. If you could only get light hits from yours, either your LB is faulty, or your batteries are inadequate, or you just never learned the right technique. (Listed in order of increasing probability.)

luckily it isn't likely I will ever get drugtested, here you'll only get one if you're aplying for military, police etc(altough I don't even know for sure if police is tested)

I got my log vape about a week & a half ago. I really like it. I don't think I'm conserving much, seems like I still use about a gram a day, but my lungs don't feel like they're getting clogged when I exercise. When I used a bong, I noticed that when I went on a long run, my heart rate would be 10bpm faster that if I didn't, no difference in heart rate using the vaporizor.

I wish I would have bought a MZ insteed of a Woodezz, my emails concerning getting a glass stem & a shorty went ignored. The electric unit inside the log looks a tiny bit cattywampus, like it wasn't seated level or is slightly off center, plus the MZ looks better IMHO. I'll buy a glass stem & Aroma flower from Aromazap, the copper cap for oil that came with mine is just a cooper cap a plumber would use & is ugly.

I want to get a water set up to attach a shortie to, but that will have to wait for more funds. I had a few friends over to watch football this weekend & they all like vaping. The smell is way less, I can vape with other people in the room & they hardly smell anything if at all. I can't wait to use my ABV, got about 4 grams already. Prolly make some firecrackers & creamer for my coffee next week.
