Hi there,
I got a Splinter five days ago and what can I say....I think I have finally found my vape. I guess this is quite personal. I have a friend that loves the PAX, other friend that is in love with S&B and has Plenty, Crafty and Mighty. But those session vapes were never satisfying me. I had a Pax 3, a mighty and many others and ended up selling them. The closest I ever got to be satisfied was an Elevape that I had long ago, but that would combust quite often (I guess my fault). At some point I had clear that what I like is on demand and tried the firefly 2+, which I did not like either. So as I said, I guess everyone's preferences are different.

Re my (short) experience with the Splinter: I started using it on a cuboid mini in power mode at around 40W. I immediately felt I liked the concept but was combusting. I tried different draw speeds and W settings but that did not help. I could not flash the cuboid as I have a Mac and the latest firmware update does not run in Macs (or at least I was not able). After a couple of days I got a RX GEN 3 Dual. I flashed it with surmyevic and started to play with TCR. It has taken me quite a bit as I dont really know what I am doing when changing the settings. I tried the settings some of you posted here and they did not really work for me (either combusting or not getting vapor). I guess different Splinters or mods or atmosphere or all of them have a small influence on the settings. After many trial and error, now I get very nice vapor, very nice taste, the vapor coming in my mouth at a temperature I really like and I get even ABV. I am really very happy with it, but I would suggest everyone to move from power mode to TCR.

My setting so far are TCR 145, 35W, coil at 0,25. I start at 190C and finish at 210C. I have tried to play with PID but I would only manage to make the vaping worse so I have the Algo off right now.

I also ordered some capsule wooden stems from Lamart (not 100% sure they are compatible) to try them, but they have not arrived there

Cheers

I'm not sure the capsules are compatible with the Splitner's inside glass, but maybe the wooden stem itself is. wait for another answers to make sure, but be careful. the NUB from Lamart is compatible actually.

Had a custom cooling nub turned from chakte kok/redheart by @khelek41girl. Fits 45 3mm glass balls. I use capsules made from basket screens and it works wonders. Vapor is slightly cooler than the stock one and the stem itself stays pleasantly warm, never hot like the glass stem or even the Splinter body. I had it made more for portability, but i felt that it needed the beads for cooling since it’s so short.

I like your capsules!
But in my Splinter v1 those would bottom out and not let a glass stem fit.
I suppose that's the beauty of your custom nub.

So, how did you achieve that flattened screen? Run over it with yer car?

You’re good man, I have a V2 and it doesn’t come close to bottoming out on the stock glass. Lol, that would’ve made quick work of the 20 or so capsules I made. Just used a pen cap to press it down and made small adjustments by hand.

here’s how i store them. One side fresh and one side spent.

Welcome! Unfortunately those will not fit the regular Splinter V2, would need to cut down any lamart stems to fit the 19mm depth of Splinter, so you don't risk cracking the female glass.

I'm not sure the capsules are compatible with the Splitner's inside glass, but maybe the wooden stem itself is. wait for another answers to make sure, but be careful. the NUB from Lamart is compatible actually.

Unfortunately the nub is also NOT compatible with regular Splinter V2 (which is 19/19 while nub is 19/22 so it will fit a Splinter Z however)

Cut down one of my glass stems to be absurdly short and filled it up with stainless steel ball bearings. This fucking this is smoother than my Mighty now. No joke.

Sorry for bad formatting..new here

Would you mind sharing what you used/how you cut that stem down so cleanly? Thank you in advance!

A cheap glass cutter from home depot (the stick looking kind), a torch lighter, and some sand paper.

1. Scratch the glass with the glass cutter where you want the cut to happen. This will be the rough cut, but still try to keep it as straight as possible.
2. Heat up the glass with the lighter along your scratch line
3. Dunk the hot glass in cold water as you try to snap it along your scratch line, don't force it though. Do some deeper scratches if it's not coming apart.
4. Get some fine sandpaper and smooth out your rough cut, may take a while. Use some water as lubricant.
5. Hit the sharp edges with the torch until they smooth out from the heat.

I like those capsules too. Gonna order me a bunch now!
My question is about stems. In the past few months, I’ve got 2 splinters and 2 stempods. So of course I’m also collecting a bunch of cooling stems and I’m wondering how others safely store your cooling stems. Or am I the only one getting VAS over cooling stems for .510 devices.

I really appreciate this, thank you very much. To Home Depot I go!

I got my Splinter Z in mid March but didn't have anything to try it with a Wismec I bought just for this. Last night I was reading up on the Splinter and read that it needs to do a burn off before first use. Well, unfortunately, I had a few drinks and decided to try the burnoff and use the Wismec for the first time as well.

I attached the Splinter and fired it off. I never used a box mod before and I usually read all about something before trying but I was kinda drunk and I fired it at Top wattage not heat. I thought it was heat not Watts. It glowed inside the Splinter and smelled a burning so I figured it was the burnoff and let go of the fire button. I let it rest for an hour and now it says ATOMIZER NOT FOUND. I'm so worried it's now a paperweight. Any help on this?

Try removing and reattaching this splinter? What wattage were you on and how long did you hold the button? Max should be like 45 Watts and only five seconds without air flowing through...

Shit, 45?! Like I was saying, I confused watt for temp and had it full blast. So like 300w for a few seconds.

Yeah I took it off and reattached as well.

@RastaBuddhaTao Any help as well?

Yeah that 300w is insane, but I hope a few seconds wouldn't kill the whole thing, full bright glowing for even 3 seconds is a lot though... Sorry dude, it's not exactly mindless the first time without any experience... For future reference, any temp control must be configured anyway, even if you were in TC mode it'd be ill advised without setting up TCR and locking cold resistance... So out of the box stock usage would be wattage mode, but yeah max of 45 Watts, many settling below 40 for the SplinterV2 too, should start at 35w to get a feel for things...
