COVID-19 transmission concerns?

I know we’re to be mindful of touching surfaces and this may be a sign of my ignorance, but is there any concern about the virus being transmitted on the actual bud itself?
I recently picked up and the thought danced through my mind.
Stay well FC.

If someone had it on their hands and touched your material, it's possible. But AFAIK it doesn't resist heat much, so vaporizing the bud should kill it.

You could wash your own hands after you ground your nug tho, to be on the super safe side...

It would be more likely that you would pick up the virus from the container the herb was in when you bought it. So bring your own container and wash your hands right after you transfer the herb from your container, and then again when you get home. Latex gloves would be a good idea, I'd think, during the container transfer, as well.

As of right now I wouldn’t put anything past this stupid virus. I come home and strip naked. Run upstairs for a shower. And then put on my indoor clothes.

containers could have it. It can live in a surface for 2-3 days depending on the surface. No studies are saying how long it sits on weed though. Haha.

Keep your mouthpieces clean (ISopropyl, or heat), only use your vape with clean hands. Avoid putting your fingers where you put your mouth on your stems.
Regarding the herb material itslef, given the temperatures i wouldnt worry.

Yeah it’s difficult to get iso right now haha. Driving me nuts. My hands are always clean. First thing I do when I get home from my office. Wash the hands. My entire house is clean. When I go grocery shopping i order before hand and wait in my car. They put it in my car. Each bag goes into my garage. Each package wiped down. And then I go into my house clean my hands. When in my house shit is clean.

I'm not giving in to irrational anxiety; I'm doing what they have said to do. I'm home alone, only one other person comes in my house right now, he uses his vape and I use mine. I go shopping early in the morning when there are very few people in the store. I wash my hands lots and keep them away from my face.

I'm able to do my job online, which is a blessing.

I think the best thing we can do is social distancing, stay at home. I think it's the best preventative measure.

This article is pretty informative regarding social distancing. It has a few models that you can run to see the effect of social distancing and how it curbs the spread.

I would also like to add that when China was in lock down emissions were at an all time low as seen from space. Now that they are back in business, pollution is soaring again.

You sound like my housemate’s brother. He is OCD.

Last night it sounded like he may have the dreaded virus. No taste. No smell. Etc.

Of course he’s also paranoid...

This is exactly what I am doing.

I live with my 93 year old grandpa and my mom and I don't want to get this myself due to having a rare condition already. I've ended up in the hospital with pneumonia before and it isn't fun. I got RSV in 1994 at 17 and spent a week in the hospital on 8 liters of o2 barely getting mid 90s o2 saturation. Last time I went to the Dr. I took a puff beforehand, and was really happy when I saw the meter read 99%.

I just envisioned a peloton of cyclists. I hope my 2-wheeled buddies aren't being stupid. That's a fucking rolling virus train.

I've been looking for anything that supports the idea that ~400F temps will kill viruses and haven't come up with anything yet. One article I read said that using fire to sterilize a needle is not adequate, and you must light it up until it's glowing red in order to have a shot at killing microorganisms. Glowing red would be a few thousand degrees fahrenheit. So if there's live virus on bud, smoking it would be a safer bet than vaping it hypothetically speaking. Of course if you suspect contaminated bud, don't use it...

I heard that anything over 50C kills it. We had a thread going somewhere where someone suggested doctors using the blanket heaters in hospitals to kill the virus so they can reuse their gear. Links were also posted. But the consensus I gained from it was 50C or above.

I leave my new bud purchases untouched for 3-4 days I believe that is the amount of time that the virus can live on plastic and organic matter. Same theory that I use with some of my grocery items.

I haven't seen anything that optimistic, do you have a reference, curious who said this.
Mainly based on data gleamed from internet searches and news pieces on how long the virus survives on different surfaces.
