What Vaporizer Should I Get?

Any input on what other portable vaporizer to get?
Love my MV1 but need something smaller, less finicky for my camping trips that i can also not worry about too much if i have to get a new one. Cosidering a Fury 2 or Fury Edge (tried several Fury 2, not liking the flavor, but everything else is quite nice) but not sure yet. Any ideas?

I have a solo2 and it's my back up when MV1 is down,
Goods flavor and vapor.....if for camping trips may require cleaning of glass or you can get.additional glass.stems, Arizer has travel tubes for glass.pretty inexpensive definitely recommend those....but nothing HITS like the MV1 IMO... But everyone should have backups!

100% get the Fury Edge. Perfect for the smaller size and mobility of it.

I picked up a Boundless CFV (version 1) on sale last summer very cheap.
It works well with the dosing capsules for the Mighty. Flavor isn't as good
as the Ghost, but it's very easy to travel with. I got a pair of the capsule
caddies that hold 4 capsules each. Air and water tight.

If I use the CFV with glass, then I use one of the "crystal pipe" formed
stainless steel screens for better airflow. The capsules add a bit of conduction
to a convection vape.

It looks like the current CFVs offered are version 2 and I don't know if the
capsules or formed screens will fit since Boundless changed the chamber.

For camping You have so many choices these days!!! The device that would be cool for camping is I think believe or not Is a grasshopper. I have a more recent iteration and they pretty much solved all the problems. It's super durable mine is titanium, super reliable, super light, super portable and super powerful. I have 3 batteries but I just keep a giant 2700 mah portable battery to keep everything charged for months if I needed too. No glass to worry about, looks unassuming, if you pulled it out on hike or campfire no one would think anything.

Dynavap M. Or go with a Maker's Kit and file away while you're sitting around the fire. May even make for a fun activity if you don't mind passing it around and seeing what others do to it . You can always buy an extra block or two and with the Maker's kit you get the titanium tip which I prefer.

Definitely dynavap! It's even smaller and more durable But I thought he wanted battery powered unit.

Thanks all! Great suggestions. I plan to have a dynavap eventually, but for now just electronic vaporizers. I think I have a new small craving now for the grassshopper... a bit pricey but seems a fair price for what it seems to offer. Time to start following a new thread and doing some research .

How does Dynavap's flavor compare to MV1's?

You might hear alot of negative feedback on hopper forum, grasshopper company went through alot of problems in the past and just as recently as last year. Dont let that hold you back though. If you buy new there might be a wait not sure, and also there is newer version being released soon called the GRASSHOPPER IO for "instant on" sounds like a beastly winner. If you go on the used market you can save alot, just make sure it is a recently rma'd unit like sometime after august 2019, those have the most recent upgrades that fixed all the problems of the past. Oh one other thing, and this is a big one. at this moment no batteries available, grasshopper uses a custom battery so be aware. They do have a shipment coming but with the coronavirus situation I think it might be awhile more. Grasshopper has pass through use so that should help but you need an outlet and special cable one of members here makes., I never tried an external battery with passthrough use I gotta check that.

Hopper finally, after years, decided to have a presence on FC and respond a bit to the user community.

This new found openness and transparency have motivated many, including myself, to encourage their efforts and be skeptically hopeful.

Hopefully, all that they say comes to fruition, but this has YET TO BE DEMONSTRATED to any significant extent.

They still are sitting on RMAs some of which are over a year old.

They still have yet to produce a fraking steel case that was up for pre-order 4 years ago!

We have no idea how their CS improvements (desperately needed improvements) will turn out as they disabled being able to open an RMA as they are moving factories, moving websites, etc. So, nobody actually knows if their CS will be better or the same old really crappy service.

I plan to buy an IO, but not until its GA. I would never pre-order anything from Hopper.

I have one of two GH that is working very well now after three or four fruitless RMAs. When working properly, its a killer device. Love it utterly.

Hopper....well, like I said....hopeful but skeptically.

You are looking for a small compact portable?

how long of battery life do you require? Do you require a replaceable battery?

I have been testing the Flowermate CAP. It’s tiny as all get out. It’s conduction. It has a quick heat up time. Battery is very small though and is not replaceable. Usually get 5-7 bowls out of it. Flavour is not bad at all and the device I believe is gonna be under $100 when released. It does only have 3 pre set temps though.

Maybe something like the Mighty/Crafty+? no glass, good battery, good old brand, the plastic of the mouthpiece is so strong so it's inert in the vaping temperatures...amazing taste from the mighty, crafty too, haven't tried the crafty+.

Having camp vaped with the below listed units, I can only really recommend the Vapcap.

Granted, I go interior camping and I make it a good 30-50km up the rivers and lakes before I make my site. These are my experiences with vapes thus far:

Crafty - too few bowls, have to charge too often. Live in constant fear of the weather ruining hundreds of dollars of vape.

Solo I - glass stems in the dark with only a headlamp to guide you was hard and one dropped stem means your camping trip is over. Forgot that it does not have USB charging - it sat in my kit taking up weight for almost two weeks. Great battery life until it dies tho.

Dynavap - I brought my M and my VONG. I was always afraid of the wood of the VONG getting soaked. The M I was happy to experiment with, including setting it up by the fire to click. When it was rainy in the tent, however, it was a real nightmare because of the noise. Also, that tip, if it falls in your tent, will leave a lovely mark. If the cap is gone, you at least have a nice little one hitter that you can power-clean when you get back home.

My dream vape for camping would be an 18650 set up like an Air I which I feel handles getting beat up a bit better than the Air II. You can safely pack a fuck ton of mAh away and swap batteries out. If you have a solar charger or something while interior camping, maybe the above (except the Dynavap) changes. If you have access to a safe dry space or a car or whatever, the above (excepting again the Dynavap) changes.

I won't lie. After a few expeditions with vaping, I have kind of given up the ghost. I can pack down my herb, some papers, and so on much more lightly than anything but, again, the Dynavap. Replaceable batteries, USB charging, and not feeling bad if it is devastated by nature are the things you need for vaping in nature. I am sure that are ways to do it super well, but I ain't found them for my style of camping.

If you camp not near any car (for 12V charging the mighty) i agree. the M will be great.. if you do have a car near you, you can always charge it there.
*Also there's the option of buying a portable battery, including 12V option. but M is a better idea, overall. yea. (depends on dosage/amount of days out there)

if you camp with your kids for an example, maybe a Mighty is a better idea overall. not sure.

If you are doing car camping, then yeah, just bring whatever. Go sit in the van, listen to Yes, and keep the windows rolled up.

i mean.. depends who u take with hehe.

Oh yeah, if you do get the dynavap, you can pair it with a nice portable induction heater like a portside mini thing last a long time. You will have battery and fire no worries.

Second this. My Fury Edge is the go-to for vaping out and adding a power bank would likely ensure it lasts as long as your camping trip.

If you're fussy about flavor (a strong suit of the flaky MV1 by all accounts) you can use the dimpled cooling stem or bent stem, which is an improvement over the black mouthpiece. It still won't approach the flavor of any of the top tier on demand convection portables but I'd definitely pack it for times when I'm settled and don't mind fucking with accessories.

I would not recommend the Air, Solo, Mighty or Crafty. Vapcaps are a good option since they are durable and the M is affordable. But it's not the ideal travel/camping vape some make it out to be. They're not the best for sharing and one accidental combustion can leave you ready to use something else. Maybe carry a vapcap in a dynastash as a backup.

No vape is perfect since uses and users vary. I reach for the Edge because it's safe and small in the pocket and I can grab it, turn it on, vape anywhere from a couple to a dozen hits, and then put it away all without breaking my stride or even looking at it really. Some outdoorsy types are fond of the dosing capsules too, especially in windy situations, but I like denser vapor and avoid them whenever possible.

If you wanted to go really compact you could squish some nugs into rosin and just bring a wax pen or nectar collector. These type of vaporizers are much more efficient with battery life compared to dry herb devices which is ideal when away from power. With rosin, you can put the equivalent of an oz of flower in your coin pocket.
