This is the announcement for the updated part on the S&B instagram:

https://www.instagram.com/p/B8w7NehCa-V/

I'm happy and relieved that S&B decided to do this the right way rather than rush it out with a half baked fix. This was probably their intentions all along but when I asked S&B in January if the fix they would provide existing owners would be equivalent to the changes they would do on their production line models, I was told I had to expect that the production models would be the target of continued improvements that we should not expect to get on older models, to which I pointed out mine was only 3 weeks old at the time. I'm sure I'm not the first or the last client that complained about what looked like a loose fitting stainless steel washer. They should get better at communicating their intentions and timelines though, it's to their benefit because I'm pretty sure that their latest 'posts' on this subject will make most owners satisfied. And this ceramic coated aluminum, looks like a good solution.

I don’t know, I just hope this is the end of it. I’ve mentioned in other threads that don’t like vaporizers with ceramic chambers & the fact this just sounds like a coating over aluminium worries me a little.
It would certainly need to be durable, I’m not sure “very resistant to wear” is inspiring me with a lot of confidence.
The sides of the chamber are easily scratched when removing & refitting the screen.
I’ve stopped removing them for cleaning but they do need replacing from time to time.
You can see the damage on this pic of mine that are about to go in the ultrasonic cleaner.

I guess we’ll see when they ship, I have to put mine away until a new housing arrives.

Besides, how do you know that Jesus didn't love beer? He supposedly turned water into wine...
That’s right what a dick, only a beer hater would do that.
You have some funny posts @LesPlenty I especially liked your reply to the “gain inches” spammer

I’m curious as to how the insert is adapted. Does it simply “rest” on the heating element, or snap in with a little pressure? Still seems a little half baked, but let’s give it a whirl. Also, lm keeping an eye in if they permanently fix this during the manufacturing process.

When I read the S&B statement yesterday, I looked up "ceramic coated aluminium" and what I found sounded reassuring. One technique ends up creating a fused layer of crystallized aluminium oxide that can surpass heat-treated steel in its hardness. So it seems it can create surfaces that are much harder than non coated aluminium. I was also concerned that ceramics doesn't sound like a good heat conductor, but it seems some are. And then I realized that aluminium cookware has been using ceramic coated aluminium for some time and they do conduct heat and are resistant to wear and tear.

I agree that the million dollar question is how does it get installed, but I suspect they will explain how this part can be removed and replaced. It may require some prying or some sort of 'special' tool to take out the original ring. The S&B statement seems to imply that the production line models will have the same fix that we will be receiving, and I find that re-assuring.

Finally got the Hybrid refunded through S & B, journey is over for me. Couldn´t care less about this ceramic coated aluminium insert, i am just glad that i have my money back.

S & B=never again for me

Sad but understood. Thank you for your input and all the best on your vaping journey. I know 100% that I can't go back to combustion now and thanks to this and other forums I know there's so many different ways to achieve this.

:science: Awesome!

Hey everyone. due to being absent for a while due to health issues I'm trying to be back on the topic a bit and reach out to sb tomorrow as to when I will receive my SS part. haven't received it so far.
Will post any reply from them I get instantly on here aswell.
take care and god bless

edit: just read through it all, seems they started sending already so disregard the above about me contacting sb. I hope they will be worth it and that we finally can put all these issues and concerns behind us! it's still a really good device imo. but I still kinda feel like they rushed the release without proper testing ( sorry to still complain! it's a minor thing for me. )

I think they’ll send these out with new units but doubt they’ll remove the old one & change production to have them preinstalled. If they do, most current owners will probably want a replacement rather than the bandaid solution.

I’m trusting they know what they’re doing & it is a great device like most people who’ve used it say, so I’ll just wait & see like everyone else.

Do we know which technique S&B have used?

I’m not so sure the original ring will be going anywhere, I’m thinking that’s fixed onto the top & the new conduction ring will just sit on it but hopefully securely. Whether or not the changes to the ring & the chamber will help the issue with the housing remains to be seen.

I think you’re right, no confirmation they’ve shipped any yet.

Very easy with either tubing to a regular piece, or you can check out the integrated glass pieces we make (which produce much more humid vapor than going through a standard bong). Feel free to stop by the thread in the accessory forum for more info, lots of helpful people :)
Thanks, I decided to go with the Obsidian.

S&B Finally contacted me on facebook about my housing units and I am waiting for a reply back. I'll let you guys know what they finally tell me with regards to the fragile units. I also sent the support a link to this thread to try and possibly pull a presence from them on the forums.

Were you having issues getting ahold of them?
