Discontinued The Grasshopper

It may interest you to know that titanium Hopper units being shipped from the Canadian planet of the Vapes have serial numbers slightly younger gt013xxx compared to the other set I have that basically just won't quit that have serial numbers gt014xxx. The battery also took a while to charge and appears to function normally. They had free shipping and their prices are in Canadian dollars so it was only like $220 due to the current weakness of the Canadian dollar

Sorry I get passionate about defending @Hopper Labs. You might feel differently if you had just thrown your thermovape Ceras with their lifetime warranties in the trash a few months ago. Other people just went nuts and shot up the place with AK-47 when the going got tough and then our Thermovape warranties weren't worth anything.

The crazy f*****-up thing is that I could have sworn the name of the CS girl from them was also Caroline LMAO

these guys are calmly trying to rebuild and doing classy moves. Warranties don't mean s*** if a company doesn't stand behind them and this company really tries hard even when their D&D session goes wrong and somebody leaves a delayed blast Fireball uncorked. If they give up then we're screwed so it's important to be nice to them from my perspective.

Edit: Also how about that gold plating on the new gh2 when you scroll down in that email they just sent out. Pretty...:haw:

I also strongly disagree with the previous post by @mulciber , I feel like as long as people are fanatical about wanting HL to die then I need to be fanatical about wanting them to live.. and poking holes in stories about how they hold things Ransom or do other things that they didn't do. I'm still face-palming about the guy that returned his entire unit instead of getting an external charger off Amazon. I just don't care if the magnetic charger doesn't work: there I said it :nope:.

I guess I have to be fair and recognize that I already had the external two slot charger to charge the batteries for the Cera so it was a lot easier for me to go right to that charger when I had trouble with the magnet thing. To be honest they might work fine now, I don't even f*** with them. especially once you get that little plastic 3D printed insert thing off eBay, the external charger is just way too convenient not to use

This is a really useful device for aromatherapy that is beneficial for veterans struggling with PTSD. it's frustrating not to have extra batteries and consistently working devices, but they are going to land this plane. Don't be like the young Bill Paxton in Aliens talking about game over man. yes okay, they did technically all die in that movie, but things are going to be different this time:razz:

I don't agree with you and I don't see anybody being fantical about wanting Hopper Labs to die.

The member you referenced has had their GH in repair for 19 months!

There is absolutely nothing you can say to me that would mitigate this from being a complete and utter failure on Hopper's part.

Nothing wrong with passion and enthusiasm, but let me make clear, I don't wish misfortune on _anyone_, and I'm not being fanatical. When someone guarantees a product, then doesn't honor that guarantee, it is simply wrong by any reasonable standard.

When they don't honor the guarantee and tell you _only after you inquire about it_ that they lost your device — in other words, had I not asked, they would not have told me and, I suppose, were hoping I'd forget about it (?) — that is an unquestionable affront.

When they agree to make up for their error, but first hold out a hat and ask for a donation, you've really got to wonder what planet they are on.

They should live and be well. But they failed. DGI

just read about the made in china batteries..

Are all four of the batteries ghb1? unfortunately none of my ghb1 batteries will hold a charge anymore. Seems like by now they are too old. The tldr version about the battery situation is that there probably won't be new ones available until April.

As far as the posts after mine underscoring the ruthlessness of logic that company X did not do Y, even though if nothing had gone wrong then Y should have been possible, AND company X promised that they would do Y, you are right @Baron23 : that can't really be refuted.

I guess we have to just agree to disagree about the extent to which water has been walked on by @Hopper Labs and the extent to which achievements should mitigate flawed customer service and quality control manifestations. I say if you can make al-Azar come out of the Tomb then I don't mind if I have to email you a few times before you send me my order:nope:. I don't even mind if I just have to keep buying new ones because the old ones stop working and the queue to get repairs is very long. If the product wasn't so miraculous then I would be less religious about it

Huh?
Talk about confusing...

...and you're right, who gives a shit about how they handle warranty? If your method of resolution is "throw it in the gutter, and go by another" (EazyE RIP!)

sorry, the whole point of everyone's frustration is exactly that: the way to a "working" hopper is to buy a new one.

All Grasshopper batteries have been made in China from the start.

Performance can degrade a lot when batteries get weak/old.

Or you get a dud like I originally did in ‘16 (two of them didn’t hold much of a charge compared to the others). Just saying. The new ones I bought just before the November ‘19 fire - and the same that HL said not to use - seem better and more consistent. Thought one of the 5 might’ve been a bit off but it’s now in kitty litter. I’ve been using two newer ones, no issues. :peace:

By any chance did the battery issue get fixed as I purchased last batch , got a email to throw it away and been having a hopper that barely works bc my batteries are so old. Emailed Hopper labs and did not get a reply back & I really like my hopper and would like to be using it again in the rotation .

New GHB3 batteries should be available in April if all goes to plan, which it may not of course given the problems caused by the Corona virus?

My first two Hoppers were Ti, one plain and one dark grey. When I purchased my third one I chose SS and right away I regretted not having bought SS all along. I actually like the heaviness and especially the machining — the threads are so smooth; it just feels more substantial. I haven''t noticed any big differences in performance.

So, I've decided to get the new io, and figured I'd save some money with the SS. But looking at the site, it seems that the Ti models might actually have some desirable performance features due to the heat dissipating characteristics of the material and the conductive properties. Any thoughts here?

I feel the same, I prefer my SS GH's and for the same reasons. I'll be choosing the SS for my early io.

So @Hopper Labs have you reached out to everyone whose warranty units were lost in the fire at this point or are you responding to people only as they inquire?

If all units under the warranty process were damaged/destroyed it would be good to make contact with all affected so there’s no guesswork. I think a lot of people would prefer to have that info volunteered versus having to make the inquiry.

But the colors, y'all... Stainless steel doesn't come in green.
Does the Ti mouthpiece get as hot as the SS during a session?
I've been liking Ti mp lately, might even pick up a new Ti io mp to put on one of my SS og hoppers. They get just as hot as ss. However, for quick successive hits lately I spin it off and it cools very fast (faster than ss) when away from the body & heater.
I have a Green Ti og and all the color has rubbed off under the pocket clip. Plain Ti and SS show some of this wear, but not nearly as noticeably. I don't think I'd go with color anymore.

Excellent pictures of a new vape have gone live.
I'm surprised and a little disappointed that there are so few actual photos of Hopper io in the email and on the new website. I think the top photo in the email may even be an og grasshopper, since the magazine is from 3 years ago... (I, and likely others, brought this up during the 'proof read' and the date was soon brushed out on the website photo).
All of the color io's are illustrations as far as I can tell. I think I would want to see one if I were going to plunk down $300.

Isn’t the back-end threading made out of copper on both io versions? So there should only be a difference to the threadings of the front end I guess?

Incidentally, if my sarcasm didn't come across, in pointing out that "excellent pictures ... have gone live" I was saying that the actual device hasn't. I expect it will become a reality right around when I get back my second GH, which was in "repair" for 1.5 years, and apparently lost in the fire, which they didn't tell me about until I asked for it back. Which means, in short, never. Fine if I'm wrong, but experience says it's up to them to prove me wrong and the odds are poor. Maybe we'll see it when we get our chargers (which I also paid for years ago).

Uh, I think he was adding his thoughts to your own, not disagreeing with you.
But yeah, for a device that was supposedly to launch in December 2019, I'd expect a few more promo pictures too. I'm not trying to sound like a negative nancy, but that post in the IO thread kind of rubbed me the wrong way, especially when there are people who had to contact HL about their units being destroyed rather than being contacted immediately about the status of their vape. But who knows how many units got destroyed? If it was in the upper hundreds, then I'd get it.

any1 here who recently tried to RNA his hopper?
waiting for weeks now to seny mine in...
is hopper labs collapsing?
will they go insolvent before I get my hopper repaired? :o

If you want to send your GH for repair, write to the support address, and they will instruct you.

You will wait indefinitely to get it back. I got one back (broken) after it was with them 1.5 years. When I got it back in that condition I told them, and they said they would get it back to me within a month, which they did. That proves that they can, if they want to. But they don't want to, which brings me to your third question.

The reason they have not gone insolvent yet is that they collect money before they have a deliverable product. They did that for about 5 years before delivering the first GHs. Now they are collecting money for the "next generation" which they claim will ship "sometime" in the spring. Experience dictates this will not happen.

I have another GH in repair for nearly two years. I recently inquired about it and they told me it was lost in their recent fire (they didn't plan to tell me unless I asked). They told me that instead of fixing my old one I could purchase a "new generation" with an $80 discount instead. I declined this, and they said, basically, OK, we'll refurbish an old one and send it to you but don't hold your breath.

My advice is, frankly, to look into another device. But if you're dead set on fixing your GH, just be prepared to wait and wait and wait, and there is a chance that ultimately you may get brief satisfaction, until the unit breaks again.

Sorry if this is bad news. GH is a great device during the 5 minutes it works.
