Definitely not easy!

"M' is not garbage, heck I won one, but then that's the database, the garbage in/out would be the bad weed going in and the poor vapor production coming out.

They can sell it, I'm just glad not to be the one using it. Top shelf or no sale imo.

Believe the hype!! I spent the evening with my "new to me" XL length Simrell Vortex Ti stem and I could not be more impressed. This stem is NOT just a simple titanium tube!!

While very simple in its look, in person it is extremely elegant. The gentle curves that taper slightly towards the tip, and are more pronounced at the MP end, give the Vortex a sleek modern look. It feels very nice in the hand. Weighing in at 5+ grams more than the Omni, the weight is immediately noticeable and, IMO, welcomed.

Construction, and design are top notch. The condenser is integrated into the stem and seamlessly transitions into the MP inside the stem. The tear drop airport is ingenious in its simplicity. Rock one way and you open the big end, rock the other and you open the small end. One of the design features I like the most is the way the entire stem tapers down to the smooth MP. The size and smooth shape of the MP make it, IMO, the most natural and comfortable MP of any stem I own.

But the real question on everyone's mind is, "hows the vapor"? In one word, Excellent. I'm not going to say its the coolest stem I have ever used and I'm not going to say that it is not. I will say it has exceeded my expectations in every way, and given all that has been said about the Vortex, that's saying a lot.

I have a very simple explanation for the great cool vapor. Metal, lots of metal. Lets forget about what the Vortex inter-cooler does to the airflow for a minute. If you just look at the design of the Vortex system, there is one thing that immediately struck me, "the vapor comes into contact with SO MUCH metal". Between the condenser tube that is .5mm larger than a standard condenser, and the inter-cooler whos shape seems to maximize surface area, there is just so much surface are to act as a heat sink. It is also unique in that it is the only stem that has something going down the center of the condenser, allowing the vapor to loose heat at the outside and on the inside of the vapor flow. IMO this is the magic of the Vortex Inter-cooler. The way the vapor corkscrews around it facilitates that heat loss.

As I mentioned before, the Vortex stem exceeded my expectations. When I compare it to the Omni, at the same price, I would choose the Vortex without hesitation. Given its stellar performance and indestructibility, I could easily see it becoming my go to stem.

What keeps me away from the Vortex is exactly that – I'm thinking the intercooler and added surface area, while obviously doing a good job in cooling down and conditioning the vapor, will also take away a lot of the substances we try to get in our bloodstream. I would consider it if the standard DVs would give me hot or harsh vapor, but they seem smooth enough for me (if I want them to be).

Wish I could test the Vortex, though.

Had a unwelcome visit from the police last week. Confiscated all my personal supply, my omni that had a custom stardust sailor stem on it and my pipes Portside mini... Bloody stupid cause I just had it sitting out on the bench and it picked there interest. If it was out away I doubt they would of known what it was.

That sucks about your visit and losses! I hope things get better for you.

Happy Vaping! :leaf:

all those goodies are left on the Intercooler and can be easily harvested. I keep Everclear in a mason jar and drop my Simrell parts and glass stems from other devices in too. I wait until it’s the color of a decent bourbon and then drop a shot or two into an ale or Bloody Mary mix. My favorite way to cross-fade.

@Beyonder420 – That's not a bad idea at all, but I tend to get extremely sleepy from reclaim (haven't used it as a beverage yet, though), so I avoid it. Also I'm a simple man: I put herb in a chamber to vape its components, not to vape part of it and collect another part of it to enjoy later. It's the same reason why I don't use kief catchers in grinders.

Anyway, to each his / her own. As I said, I'd still love to test a Vortex – but it doesn't convince me enough to buy it blindly.

You know more about CANNABIS and need to design for VAP CAP!

I use a “M” and love it!
The new stem is a must have item.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Curious about the surface of the vortex being anodized. On the Simrell website there are several warnings about not using certain cleaning solutions, not rubbing the stem on glass fittings, and being careful not to let the Ti parts tap against each other when cleaning because it will scratch the outer surface anodization.

Just how delicate is the outer coating? Buying Ti over wood or glass, you would think that the metal stem would offer some durability. If I have to be constantly careful about scratching the finish on everything that would defeat a big reason for going titanium and spending $150 on a vapcap stem.

I hope they just took it for evidence so you can petition for their safe return after the hearing or conclusion of any charge.

@BabyFacedFinster - the oxide layer providing color is very thin but reasonably well 'adhered'. If you want an example of its toughness, take a torch to an old knife; and use steel wool to remove the discoloration.

An old trick for discolored motorcycle exhaust pipes was getting them hot and using vinegar to remove the discoloration from the chrome.

For me, I buy these stems to support the artist and because I think they are beautiful and unique. The upgrade in performance is a bonus.

Dont want to pry but did they come because of cannabis? What state do you live in?

I would not want to introduce metal into the vapor path with a vortex piece......it would kill taste for me.

I did not notice any difference in taste, but I'm also not super sensitive to subtle differences.

I have found that all Ti and metals in general can get scratched. Whats nice about an un-anodized stem is that you can take a little metal polish to it and make it look new again.

Now, just because I can and said I would!

They were accusing me of growing, so they were looking for grow gear and plants and anything weed related.

I'm in Australia, they are rather backwards here when it comes to weed.

I know I won't be seeing any of the items taken back. Wish they took one of my shittier stems

OZ will change their view about CANNABIS one day?
Liquor is acceptable?
Do you have a “M”?
