Volcano Hybrid

Random question - how can I clean the black “ring” on my volcano unit (the black washer ring at the top of the unit with the holes in it) https://imgur.com/a/FqUV9DB

I know it’s not filthy, but I’m curious is this isopropyl resistant? Or should I swab it lightly with water?

Are you able to compare this to ssv clear tubing. I just ordered the clear from ssv.

Ssv- stiffer but less dirty on the outside
Hybrid- more flexible, collects dirt on outside, gets yellow/brown.
SSV clear tubing are vinyl whips and this is why the whip is clear and stays cleaner on the outside. I would use silicone over vinyl due to the amount of heat going through the whip. Silicone whips get sticky on the outside if I try to clean them and reuse them. To extend the whips use, I clean the resin build up with a ss dabber before it travels down the whip. Clean glass attachments will also keep the whip clean. @grogazola use the brush and a damp q tip with a small amount of water to clean the plastic ring.

Thanks for the links but if I'm reading that right that stuff is $7/foot for the 3/8" ID? Thats even more than the OEM tubing. I was hoping to find something a little more economical

Try checking out home brewing supply sites. I prefer this for that purpose, though admittedly, I haven't compared it to what came with the hybrid.

High quality, soft enough to bend but not so much as to kink.

When it comes to products that involve my body, I personally have a much higher price tolerance. My choice of whip is primarily driven by safety, not cost. McMaster also has everything in one place and extremely fast shipping, so I’m willing to pay a little more for that convenience.

Anything cheaper than platinum-cured silicone and you’re likely dealing with silicone additives or a non-silicone material, each of which present their own problems. Besides questionable purity, vinyl is stiff, TPE isn’t as heat tolerant, etc.

It’s up to you what you use, the same website (McMaster) has other silicone products that are cheaper (and less pure) if you want to look at those.

If you do choose a cheaper silicone, the expandable sleeving will keep the outside from collecting lint, and keep the tube looking cleaner for longer.

There may very well be a safer material that’s cheaper than platinum-cured silicone, but given the chemistry I doubt it. If you do want to look for an alternative material I would suggest starting by looking at medical distributors to see what tubing they use, e.g. https://www.usplastic.com/catalog/default.aspx?catid=634

wow looks interesting.. any experiences with pairing it with a glass piece?
shouldnt be a biggie, right?
Very easy with either tubing to a regular piece, or you can check out the integrated glass pieces we make (which produce much more humid vapor than going through a standard bong). Feel free to stop by the thread in the accessory forum for more info, lots of helpful people :)

ive seen a video where some dude is vapebonging with his volcano classic.. can you give any advice on that?
I can get them pretty cheap sometimes on craigslist
We're the only ones that make bubblers specifically for the Volcano that integrate with the Easy Valve and the Hybrid Valve systems. Otherwise, you can use tubing to connect to any other standard glass pipe you have around.

also, i may be late to the party on this, but: did you guys notice that under 'SUPPORT' for the volcano hybrd, storz is now offering a different chamber/housing? or is this a second replacement part?

it doesn't say 'stainless steel' and it's black.

That's been the talk of the town for the last while. Originally it was shiny looking and labelled as stainless steel and now dark as you see it. The first option was maybe a place holder, it was never shipped out nor has this new version.

So, if I requested the part when it was first available via serial no. etc, I assume I'm getting whatever version is now on the site (darker one).

Or do I need to order again for the updated version?

That would be a good assumption but no one knows since storz and bickel are handling the situation so poorly with non existent communication. Its extremely frustrating. Who knows if we will get the part in 2020 even.

they call themselves JUHMAHNN but we all know the TRUE JUHMAHNN way is to stand behind your products with a signature defiant belief in the product's quality and reliability. for a long time it was true. since 2008 it seems like all of that has changed :(

Not to be harsh, but HTF would we know?....we are waiting, just like you, with no further info than you have received.

Cheers
It's a forum and I was only asking a simple question as a discussion point because no one had said anything in a while. I personally wasn't expecting anything until at least the summer and was curious if anyone else was more optimistic but apparently it's not worth even talking about because "how the fuck would we know."

Cheer up, you sound like you need to get high.

I mean he prefaced the comment with “not to be harsh”. It’s a valid response with how S&B has been handling things.

Gee, I guess that "Not to be harsh" part just slipped by you.

Have a great day.
