Onsen Labs Desktop Pro Vaporizer

I feel drawn to take their defense somehow, as I feel the tone of this whole thread has been very negative from the very start, and for no overly obvious apparent reason... apart that their product doesn't appear ground breaking at first glance and without even testing it.

I agree completely...the guy didn't hardly get a chance to metaphorically open his mouth before he was slammed pretty good.

And like yourself, its not because I want one of these...I'm not a whip guy nor am I a combined flower/trates on the same device kind of guy. Just not my cup of tea.

Look forward to @stickstones report on the device, its function and use.

@OnsenLabs, in light of your earlier acknowledgement that there is no such thing as “lab grade” for this kind of equipment, why are you claiming on your site that you’ve “engineered the only Laboratory grade vaporizer for ground herbs”? Using a non-existent “standard” to criticize your competitors seems like an extremely dishonest thing for any company to do; and when it’s one of the first and most prominent claims you’re making it’s enough for me to just write off the company and product entirely. Life’s too short for that sort of low-rent hucksterism.

@OnsenLabs - staying out of the rest of the discussion but here is my first impression;
"Clinical" looking lab-ware

Second impression;
Is that a rheostat as a temp selector? That brings me back to all my 60's audio equipment. Nothing 'fresh' about this poor visual design element. Actually makes it look cheap. Needs a gimmick here.

Third Impression;
Great products sell themselves. I wish you luck and I look forward to hearing of sales beyond manufacturing capacity. Such a good problem to have.

Final thought; The more a salesman talks, the more I want to walk the other way. I can glean BS as easily as real tech. Just sayin' - no need for reply. I want to hear from users and watch the company's response to user input. I am obviously in no hurry to redecorate my tabletop.

I have a feeling the term "Laboratory Grade" cannot be trademarked.

I'm intrigued by this vape. I'm curious how the vape responds to different draw rates. Design is interesting. Will there be different color options?

You'll have to do better than a one year warranty if I'm spending $399 on a new vape and company. Is there some wiggle room with this?

When can we see usage videos? Of the 5 videos you have on YT there was only one that said demo but turned out to be a tease? Building anticipation maybe? ;)

Looking forward to some updates.

@OnsenLabs I am tinkering on my own vaporizer designs/prototypes for some time,and also have gone trough the glowing ceramic elements back in the days when DIY hakko vape was cool.. also have owned DaBuddha which was my very first vaporizer and while it worked great ,there is something that always have bugged me. Why those vaporizers dont have a filter on the intake air ? Air is not always great in a room,and when there is environmental dust,hairs,dirts it immediatly combusts when it hits the glowing element. At least for my standart almost every vaporizer has to have somekind of filter on the intake ,at the very least it would keep it cleaner which is healtier.

8 days till they go live. Quantities are limited!

I don't know, for 3 bills, the Ditanium seems like a way better option for a similar price point & a more "fully realized" product.

- Ti or Glass Bowls
- End of the whip connects to a water piece
- Can dab or twax w/ a quartz nail option
- And IMO, it passes the "it doesn't look like a stoner device" feel that OL said it wants with the Desktop Pro's aesthetic. Like a log whip vape. :lol:

The Desktop Pro to me it looks like the type of vaporizer they would of used on the Discovery One. I can dig that. :borg:

Even the smell proof bag has a picture of Hal 9000 on it!

https://onsenlabs.com/collections/products/products/carbon-smell-proof-bag

Both only have 1 year warranty though :rolleyes: , and the accessories seem a bit pricey as well. $60 for the heater cover & $25 for a extra whip for example.

If you don't care about dabbing, from a value standpoint, you'd be hard pressed to beat a cosmetic second Da Buddha from 7th Floor for $125 with a 3 year warranty.

Almost there...
this feed was an entertaining sunday afternoon read.

Says that shipping starts tomorrow!
Let's see how many people will buy one and report back in this thread.
Looking at the pictures on the website it is almost an exact clone of the 7th Floor vapes, LSV, Silver, Super and Da Buddha. Glass surround and an upright ceramic heat rod set it apart.
Oh and the decals look super cool for a $400 vape... Printed would have been a lot better than peeling decals in a few months.

Almost forgot...I especially love the glass mouthpiece at the end of the whip...Where have I seen those before... Also a bit old school for such a new vape imo.

It is different enough IMO. Back in the days people were calling 7thfloor products VaporBrothers ripoffs/knockoffs and worse.. look at them now, everyone loves them :))Vaporizing has been around long enough and also they use heating technology already avaiable for other appliances,so it is normal to share same technology with some variation ,like in hair dryers for example..Never seen soldering iron manufactures complain that someone ripped their tech and made a vaporizer,too :D..
What i dont dig about it is the price and its fragility, also no airfilter on the intake,which means environmental dust landing and combusting on the hot element ,overall i think i am done with vapes that run their heaters at combustion temps,also silicoen whips get old pretty quick,and are not tool for a purist.

@OnsenLabs

Any updates at all on your vaporizer?
Any reviews from new users?
Now shipping 1 April 2020, so we will need to wait a few more weeks.

Hey everyone,

I haven't forgotten about you all. I'm a one man show over here getting this business off the ground (even through this pandemic) and I'm happy to announce that we started shipping product last week! We should be caught up by weeks end and have limited inventory for new orders available by next week. I'll be back here in the next week or two and drop a more personal video response (Youtube) to all the questions and concerns that have built up. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop them here and I'll address in my video. Thanks all who've been patiently waiting and following!

And yes, you can purchase a printed instruction manual for $5, or we keep an updated, free digital version for our customers on the product page, here.

If you haven't seen yet, we put out a couple bad ass product use video's here and here. Be sure to follow our blog and our social media for the latest updates! (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube).

One other quick answer, there was a question here, I don't remember by who or where atm, on what exactly makes us a "Laboratory Grade" vaporizer; check out the following blog posts for a sample of the science and education we're bringing to the table. More to come if you'll decide to support us!

@OnsenLabs

Will wait for some user reviews to really see how the unit performs. We need to know how it performs at various temps, grind consistency and of course the ABV color.
It would have been great if some members on the forum were chosen to review your vape. I think it would have helped your release a lot...

The last 2 links you provided to give us more of the "science" behind your lab grade vape was to 2 articles explaining the use of ISO...
Think we all know how to use that to clean!
Anything else to really explain the actual vape and not a cleaning routine?

Its looks cool although yeah reminds me of those 7th floor vapes. Actually it looks medical rather than recreational and Im starting to wonder how much overlap they have or whether theyre different markets.

@jardri, I'm on my second beta unit since 2019 BC (before Covid).. first unit the heater ate it, sent it back and recieved a newer refined unit, reminds me I should bust it out of the box and rip on it.. Fwiw the whip style isn't for everyone, good for lazy vaporists or the sick. It reminds me of a mini Cuisinart appliance, or a, science tool. the fan is pretty quiet, depending on your settings, I have kept it running for well over 24 hours without issue.. The vapor is very smooth, abv gets brown and even, I like Steve took some of our ideas and ran with it,
Maybe Steve took a hiatus?? Yo Steve?

This is sounds good, it isn't so expensive although the design looks like a kitchen tool, it may be stealth if you are vaping in the kitchen! I'm joking and will probably take the plunge one of these days.

@PPN apologies for idiomatic expressions,
The heater dial or wiring in the unit either wasn't properly calibrated or it may have been a loose wiring concern causing heater malfunction..so it was sent back to the lab for further tinkering and recalibrating. Current unit while vaping pulls are effortless no draw concerns so far. He may be offering a micro dosing optional bowl if I'm not mistaken.

hahaha, it sits right next to my blender, ready for work!
I would regard OL price point sensible, not for everyone, again depending on what one values, definitely worth at least $250.00US For a DD.

I am a member and contribute to many diffetent forums, and I have to say... I am shocked at some of the attitudes on this forum. A "Stoner" peace and love Vaping forum, no less.

Since when did a whip vape come to be stereotypical for "sick" or "lazy" people?

Where is the support and patience to really make a difference.

Negative, stereotypical, elitist, and rude contributions do not make change for the better.

I feel the site is a little biased.

Sorry for stating something that may get me banned, but I can do better for myself.

I hope I am wrong and just having a bad day...but really?
