Cool - I’m kinda lazy. I toss the dynavap m into either isopropyl or equal parts hot water and isopropyl. Comes out sparkling after five minutes. I dry overnight. I apply the slightest bit of hemp oil to the rings.

Note my above cleaning instructions were for a wooden stem not metal. Not sure if it would be a good idea to soak a wooden piece in ISO. I wouldn't.

mine always have reclaim residue inside the stem... very little but it's still there. could be from removing the condenser as it's tip uh ... penetrates the bore of the uh tip which obviously has lots of reclaim in it.

Reclaim can be hard to get out of nooks and/or crannys. I recently tried to clean out my dynacoil in order to get a fresh start. I rinsed it out after an iso soak for several hours. Still had reclaim and was still producing vapor.

I ended up dropping it in some boiling water for 5 min and that instantly cleaned the bitch out.

The “bitch” will come out like a sparkling queen with a few drops of Dawn 3X to
lukewarm/hot water. & a gentle shake. Easy does it.

No need to boil the lobster. Or the wizard.

With my first IH arriving on Tuesday tentatively I've been meaning to clean out my dynacoil and any other other even slightly constricted vapcaps I own before the experimentation begins. My dynacoil has seen some hard use so I'll probably do a few hours of 99% ISO soaking, hot water rinse and then decide if I need to boil it.

I don't plan on removing it from inside the tip, did you ?

You don't need to, but if your clean the whole tip in iso there is the concern of soaking the o-rings. I did take my DC out to clean it. As stated earlier boiling water temps were not necessary, but it did work like a charm. In fact, I doubt I even needed to soak in iso as the super hot water cleared everything off the titanium.

There is, and that's where the vapor travels – as with the M or the Omni, the stem doesn't get in touch with the vapor at all.
Next time before you clean your M, disassemble it and take a look into the stem – I'm sure you'll find no residue or the like.
and this is why i avoid wood stems. ty @Xclerk

edit: granted it's not much but i have PTSD from not being able to clean out the MFLB which is also wood

Thanks for the shout out @Xclerk but @myke10 if you are looking for a strictly water tool I would go with the @DDave water wand.

My 2 cents on cleaning wood stems. IMO there is no need to clean a wood stem. If you use a condenser there should not be enough reclaim in it to need to clean. If you have no condenser my personal choice would be that the inside would be coated with resin to seal out any wood oils.

I guess I never heard that info so I've never had a problem removing them usually just with my thumbnail. They also go back on with no problems for me. I think that they are somewhat ISO resistant but I wouldn't press my luck by soaking them for more than a few minutes/hours......... Maybe, lol.

Yeah, just a few minutes. I’ve never found the need to go past that. Glass is a different story I believe.

I will go back to using equal parts hot water and isopropyl.

The o rings (at least the current generation = grey, not black like they used to be a few years ago) are iso resistant, even prolonged soaking will not hurt them. I personally recommend to leave the o rings on the tip as they are tiny and can get lost.

Silicone takes in water. With an IH, that could shorten the life of the o-rings.
However, they seem to be pretty stout as mine have seen a lot of abuse and they are still holding the VC perfectly.

I like to dry my vaporizers overnight - I’ll leave all the components in the tiniest mason jar overnight. Helps keep all the little rings and accessories in one place.

edit - how’s the dynacoil with kief?

I am just saying that silicone, rubber, and many plastics absorb water.

I was asking because you said silicone, while the o rings are made out of rubber. Rubber might absorb water, but unless there are hydrophilic impurities, the total amount will be about one part per mille. From personal experience I can say that IHs do not harm those o rings, haven't seen any reports on that yet too. Also has little to do with the question of soaking them in iso or not, has it?

Which rubber formulation are you assuming they use?

Post 48715 mentioned water. Ask any 3D printing aficionado about what that microscopic bit of moisture can do.

And the most common ISO available is rubbing alcohol. 70% ISO is 30% water with the agent to carry it into permeable materials.

Could look it up, but it's not important anyway. It's not silicone, that's for sure. And again: I speak from personal experience and have not seen any reports on IHs wearing out o rings yet. Wouldn't make much sense too, as when engaging the heater they sit safely way above the IHs coil. They won't get hotter than when using a torch or any other heating method, probably even less as heating times with an IH usually are quite a bit shorter.
