Sorry, I forgot to add I have nothing against the company either. It is brutal working these gigs.
Good you know the temps around your vapecap. Epoxies typically start outgassing in the range of 160-200F
Here is a broad overview of CF w/epoxy; http://www.matweb.com/search/datasheet.aspx?matguid=39e40851fc164b6c9bda29d798bf3726&ckck=1
Generally available CF materials run on the low end of the specifications. Low end meaning undesirable. UV treatments and fire retardants raise some of these numbers also adding to the chemistry that outgasses.
I just think people should be informed. If the company is not willing to provide specifications proving suitability and show material certification, just say no!

Any reviews from someone other than Vapecritic, who seems to shill Airvape a bit too much? Also i find his style just really fucking irritating, he speaks like a 14 year old wanna-be gangster swaggering around the suburbs.
You are free to disagree with VapeCritic and/or dislike his style, but he is a member here and as such deserves to be given the same respect as any other member. Personal attacks or insults will be met with warning points going forward, so please remain respectful to all members.

Thank you.

I don't really see most vape companies providing material certification.
No of course not. But if I inquire, I would expect the information freely including the source and specification so I may confirm the material ratings.
Inquiring as to certification of material brought into the warehouse is the only way to know they are actually using what they say they use.

Bottom line, these inquiries is the only way to have a semblance of confidence epoxies are not getting mixed in with your vape.
The fact that they have CF right next to the heated bowl is what is bothering me to no end.
I won't be hitting on one of these on a daily basis for that reason alone. Even with the data, there is no guarantee that a substandard stock wasn't used.

CF doesn't seem to be in the airpath tho. and i assume they would have noticed any degradation is testing.

It looks pretty close to the air intake if you ask me,but i had the same feelings about dynavap o-rings. Otherwise cool looking product !

I think it looks interesting. I have certainly had times where a visual indicator for my vapcap is what I wanted, but I am not sure I can do without the audio indicator. A device the used both audio and visual indicators for temp would be ideal. I'm keeping my eye on the product because I am interested in it, but I desire more feedback from users before I buy anything. I'm not keen on being an early adopter for anything anymore. lol

A couple of thoughts I had after watching Bud's video where he used the hippie: It worked with an induction heater, but it requires constant checking to use properly. The indicator is obscured by the induction heater. I can't remember what the other thought was.
Edit: Now I remember! It looks unintuitive to load. Having a sideways bowl means I can't just stab downward into the grinder to load it. That is how my most widely used vapes are loaded, and it is my preference. But perhaps my opinion would change after use?

i completely understand those feelings and generally share them. ideally it would be all glass airpath.
the device seems interesting ... looks like intake is on the tip? that window is just the "ready" indicator?
hopefully the "real carbon" they are using is safe

I just watched Bud's video, and I'm now much more interested. Though, I'm not too worried about the carbon fiber for health reasons...I just have never liked the look of it. I wish there was another option for that. I assume it's mainly just an insulator to protect the wood, but there should be other options (especially if they are user-interchangeable options, where one can change the look with a different material).

My IH is not my preferred way to use my Dynavap vaporizers, so I don't mind the difference there. I imagine I'd prefer to use this with a torch.

Yeah, about early adopting...I remember being an early adopter of the Vivant Alternate...not a good experience. I haven't been an early adopter since then (except for the Nomad. Because, of course. But that's a special case). So, I'm hesitant as well. Looks promising though.

Mine arrived this morning. Nice lil box.

Cleaned it thoroughly because it had a really bad taste of oil or something.
ISO and water were not successful. Dish soap was used; Meyer's. Much better.

Feels solid. Nice build quality.

The indicator is a band that expands and "changes" color from black to shiny. Just seeing the shiny was not enough. I had to wait until I had applied enough heat for the metal band to expand enough to kinda block that window, which is also an airport. Vapor production was alright the first round and then i had to wait a couple minutes before trying again. Production was off following rounds.

I tried several loads. I am not impressed so far, but there are no instructions so I guess I need to figure out a technique of my own.

worse case: with a bit of Dremel love I have a nice shorty wood piece for my vapcap.

*Update*

The visual indicator is now stuck at shiny, but does expand and retract.

The funky, intolerable taste/odor is back.

3 baths so far today and I think it's the wood itself. I'm going to leave the wood off of it overnight and see how the pieces smell in the morning.

has anyone else gotten theirs? I'm curious if this is an isolated issue with the odor and functionality

that bad?

I only used it for a couple of days. the wood has a weird odor that leeches out to the rest of the vape making it a terrible experience for me. I thought i did a poor job of cleaning it the first time but it turned out to be the wood.

They are replacing it with a black unit but that's just the same wood, but colored black from the looks of it.

I STILL haven't sent it back yet...honestly not in any rush and that's mostly because I keep forgetting about it.

They made this claim on their website: "COVID-19 will not spread in vape clouds, only in user coughs."

Who wants to support a manufacturer that spreads unverified nonsense that could put peoples' lives at risk?

Ps. The reason I came to this thread... anyone got a discount coupon code? Would like to try this vape. Looks a lot better than vapcap.
