Volcano Hybrid

I check the filter every so often and it always looks the same, which is to say exactly like the backup filters that came with the unit oh so long ago that are still in the baggie in the box. Short of someone operating the unit literally on dirt or in a very very dirty/heavy particulate environment, the filter should last a pretty extended period.

It’s a night and day difference after a filter change. The vapour was extremely harsh after two months. After a filter change, the vapour is much less dry, it feels like the vapour is perfect.

My old filter looks the same, until you hold it up to a flashlight, it becomes clear at that point that the air filter was spent.

Was interested in the Obsidian, but instead I’ll be changing my filters regularly. I feel like fresh filters are much more gentle on my throat. Your mileage may vary.

Are you in a really particulate environment? Tons and tons of pollen? Pet dander? I honestly just cannot see how it would be possible to clog that filter, let alone that fast, otherwise. Im not in any way doubting what you're saying is true, just trying to figure out the root cause as its so contrary to my very extended experiences.

Why is everything in this thread an argument?

Some days I go through twenty or more bags, I’ve easily gone through five hundred bags in two months. Possibly a thousand. Seems reasonable to check the filter...

The filter was slightly clogged and putting in a new one made a world of difference to me. My throat felt inflamed, when I changed the filter my throat could immediately notice the difference.

To be clear, I posted a pic a few posts back. The used filter is clearly more yellow than the new one.

Totally not arguing with you in anyway. Again, not at all doubting anything that youre saying in anyway whatsoever. I feel checking the filter is perfectly reasonable, however, as stated above, unless you're in a very particulate environment, I just cannot see how it could get so clogged, BUT, I want to, hence my questioning.

I am presenting my anecdotal experience and in comparing it to what you're going through (as most folks on this board do), trying to get more details to figure out exactly what the issue/difference is, that is all. Im the kind of cat that likes to know the why of things and I see value to the rest of the board in figuring things out, I view this as a primary function of this board. I saw your picture but it doesn't really add much as to the why.

The only weird thing I do is placing my volcano on its own tray. That tray is always perfectly clean whereas my desk has tons of trim and abv on it.

volcano is on the right - on an OCB tray...

I'd feel right at home in there...thanks for the pic. I like your style!

I regularly get that Volcano harshness, and never change my filters. I'll give it a try - thanks!

I only just found out you can turn off the bluetooth by pressing minus (-) and 'AIR' at the same time. Useful for anyone who doesn't want their neighbours seeing the oh so subtle, "S&B VOLCANO H" in the nearby devices

I had just noticed the bluetooth logo was missing and was like huh? How did that happen? Looked through the manual and saw; I must've accidentally triggered it previously. The more you know!

After another week of Hybrid use my tolerance has sure climbed . I can't get enough of the bag system, it's so easy to get so extremely medicated. Still not happy about the recent issues and less happy that I last heard anything Jan. 21 after back and forth emails about replacing multiple chamber filling housings. S&B needs to sort their stuff out, it's unnerving wiping shiny black stuff off the ring everytime I go to use it :uhoh:.

But fuck does it ever medicate me!

Hello everyone, I can honestly say the new valve I ordered from S&B is made to handle high temps now. I do not see any char marks or the plastic chipping. Still looks brand new and the clips are holding on after a week of using it like I normally would. The clips fell off the original valve that came with the Hybrid after a week of usage. I also notice the teeth line up when you screw the valve together and when you put it on the Hybrid. No more wondering if the valve is to tight. I will report back after another week of extended use with a Gelatti strain I just received.

I had gotten the volcano to medicate for insomnia. When i had mine, my tolerance got the highest it has ever been. it could definitely medicate.

tbh i think my tolerance is just starting to come down again.

I was 99% certain they had updated the design, good to know others are noticing too; I wasn't just going mad! Good spot with the new thread, I hadn't spotted that before but now I'm using it, it does have a definite end to the movement instead of just constantly tightening, neat! I'll see how well the clips hold out over the next weeks...

You can criticize a company but you must keep it respectful. Warning point issued.
Anyone got their rings yet?

Never seen such a shitshow with such an expensive product.

It's like when video game dev's go silent when something is fucked up at launch. Except it's not a video game, it was a huge investment for most people.

I'm going to start processing for a refund, this company or "umbrella" company are scum.

Just sitting here chilling without my volcano for months on end, like as if that's acceptable, fucking thievery.

Anyone who starts moaning about me bashing the company can either give me my money or stfu.

little update:
S & B gone hiding and is trying to further postpone my refund. there is no communication at all from them, they say they will call but no one calls, they say they will send mails, no emails at all. basically they say a and they are doing b.

i am just laughing at this point, this company is not what it used to be for sure.

so much for a "satisfying solution", trying to get a refund is basically a lottery if you don´t have a lawyer.

and no ring and inlay at all so far, in 5 days it is a month since they´ve sent the mail.
