Ed's WoodScents Log Vape - Ed's TnT

How many of y’all use the WS with water exclusively? Wouldn’t it be really enjoyable without a cap restricting airflow??
Since owning my WS from May 2017, I have barely used it dry at all, virtually exclusively through water but I have used it dry in a number of configurations.

I'm just very sensitive to vapor, and tend to vaporize at home the vast majority of the time and I appreciate that water cooling which allows you to use a higher temperature for a faster extraction but also I like the visual feedback, to see what sort of extraction and hit you have coming and when the actives are declining.

But also on my initial trials and I'm sure I just didn't get anything dialled in right I was using my Omnivap as a stem and I didn't seem to be able to get much vapor flowing. I expect I will begin more frequent experimentation with dry usage now though if I am going to be able to use my Woodscents in the car.

Im sure you would appreciate using it dry. When Ed first released the Woodscents, at the stsrt of the thread, it seemed dry usage with various stems was the go-to for most. But I think water tool usage for higher heat, visible dense milk quickly grew in popularity.

Sure! That'll work for your WS too. The Herborizer just draws a few more amps, than the Woodscents is all. That's why you have the bigger fuse there.

Thanks very much again for the confirmation. So I'm all set! I never realised. Looking really forward now to taking the WS on the road. :)

I have question regarding a spare titanium tip i just received from my french shop :

this new ti tip doesn't have that "famous dancing stem fit" on the heater WS is known for, it fit tighter & almost doesn't dance on the heater. Does anyone had a similar experience with tips like that ? Is it normal ? i want my tip to kiss the heater like the Ed stock one :(
tLLhcyj

I have another Ti tip from my Omnivap, and it doesn't fit like the one from Ed. It's normal. I would assume if you order an extra from Ed, it will fit properly.

@Stone as Emma warm welcome here. Wishing you you the utmost enjoyment and excitement from participating in this forum thanks for sharing your initial experiences so positively.

Yes, ironically, I never actually used my ti tip from Ed until just recently when I couldn't be bothered to clean my omnivap tip which I had been switching between Ed's blackwood carbed Vong and stock wooden wpa.

But actually it was the tip from edge Direct which is a much tighter fit and has to really be forced into the wooden wpa.

It's just the Way of the world there are tolerances and minute variations. with these specific parts and many others I'm sure.

It will probably loosen up,, but as long as it can be made to work that's all that matters really, hopefully without doing any damage along the way.

I would like it if I could use my WS in the car when I go out. The Vapcap is my only option.
The dc VVPS lets me use my WS with any battery between 12 and 30 volts (even my Makita 18v drill battery),

It comes with a DC cable but I recommend these as they are already assembled and come in handy for making spare outlets,

you could also use the 12v aux power plug shown earlier or here a bit cheaper,

Does anyone had a similar experience with tips like that

Yep, they are all over the shop size wise, I purchased a few gen 4 tips like the one I had that fit well and none did, even the spare I puchased with my original unit is a sloppy fit, the only frustrating aspect I have had with owning a WS, I now have 9 different tips and only 1 fits well.

Just searched “Bocote” hoping to see some pics in this thread but there’s only two results :(

VapeNorth (Sneaky Pete) has an exclusive wood - Mexican Bocote. Such a sensual wood...even the way it sounds...no?

@LesPlenty @Alexis Thank you very much brothers in wood :p

Ed told me that the problem is known & depends on some minor batch variations :/ The best way to avoid that is to make sure beforehand that your tip supplier could test it with a WS before sending it to you. You can sand it too.

Guess i’ll keep this one for vapcap usage only & i’ll buy another one from Ed to fit my WS like the original stock one :)

Loving my new aezhenn stem with spiked glass Charlie tube :D It makes huge WS dry hit so smooth i love it !

@grogazola just go for it

Cheers

Hello gentlemen!

I have had the woodscents for 2 weeks now. Wanted to share my experience with you:

First of all the treat from Ed was excellent and he is such a nice guy, he answered all my questions and made sure i was satisfied, i appreciate man!!

About the vaporizer itself it is a hawaian koa unit with the new heater and it goes upwards from gorgeous, you can tell Ed puts a lot of effort in those little pieces!!

I have found both performance and taste to be excellent, I can´t think of a negative aspect of it. Once gotten used to temperatures you can set it to kill one micro load in one hit with massive flavour and vapor which is my preferred method. You can also dial it for having a session but it´s not my style. I just leave it at 8 all day and micro dose one hit extractions at will. I can take 10/15 microdoses with 0,20 gr!! Enough for a long day!.

Accesory wise the selection is complete. Glass and wood stems and wpa gives you absolute flexibility. I like the glass stem with the Vapcap tip and the wooden wpa with a little bubbler I have.

Until here the vape seems perfect but there are 2 aspects that need a little refinement:

-Airflow is too restricted if you use the stock vapcap screens because they tend to clog very quickly. I have tweaked it inserting a dome screen at the bottom of the tip. Used one of the screens of my Argo and it fits perfect and works wonder, much less manteinance required. I did not replace the unit´s screen. With this tweak I can produce negative pressure in the herb chamber and it increases vapor production by a good margin.

-The included Ti tip does not fit snuggly enough in the Woodscents and it wobbles making it inconfortable to use. I was lucky to have one Ti woody and one vapcap M and I tried both. The M tip is the only one tight fitting so I have sacrificed an all ti airpath but I have increased usability and it adds some heat retention that is great for big hits.

Overall I give this unit a 9/10 and will use it as my main vape for many years as long as it still rocks. Ed´s work deserves all my respect and I am very happy with it but it is also frustrating to have something so damn near perfection because my mind focuses on those little things.

Luckily I have been able to make it perfect using some spare parts but other people wont have those resources and will not experience this unit at its full potential, and thats a shame!

The woodsencts is based on dynavap tip & mid section to be used as a stem :)

@jardri 100% words ! But just one funny thing : i was just asking why my new ti tip does fit too tightly on the WS heater compared to the Ed's stock one  It's supposed to fit wobbly for more even extraction & better airflow while spinning the tip around the heater :brow: But it seems you prefer the tighter fit so again to each his own & that's what makes the WS so versatile in the end :luv::science:

How many of you all use a VVPS? Literally discovered what a VVPS is less than two weeks ago haha!

Is a VVPS for precision or is it get up to higher temperatures for maximum extraction?

IMO with the new heater you doesn't need to go past 8.5 on the stock dial for dark brown/ black ABV :)

8.5 on the stock dial is like 10.2V on the VVPs judging by vapor/AVB results. So no real need for a VVPS & if you really want one you can always buy one for almost nada on amazon. I bought the VVPS that Ed sells for the WS & ended never really using it :2c:

Damn just hit some Papa's OG with tip glass stem tastyyyyyy creaaaammmyyyy gasssyyyyyy
The vapour quality/signature on the WS is just phenomenal !
Dry hits for the win you dirty american waterhead fuckers :lol: I'm fucked sorry guys

You can sand it too.
All but one of my tips are too loose on both my WS.:2c:
The amount of money (and time) I have spent should get @Ed's TnT to hand pick a tight one and send me for free as it is the only complaint I have had.:haw:

Is a VVPS for precision or is it get up to higher temperatures for maximum extraction?
Both, but hitting concentrates make the VVPS shine, can't hit 13.8v with the standard power supply.:myday:

the only one tight fitting
Me too, I feel your pain.

tend to clog very quickly.
@DDave sells Ti and S/S screens for a buck a pack to help free up air resistance and an 8mm wad punch is great for making your own(a coarse S&B screen is also good)

you prefer the tighter fit
I do not like having a sloppy fit, who wants extra pesky air in with their vapor, it is also a pain when running 2x WS at once having a loose fit.:2c:

Well my SS tip doesnt stay really fit, wobbles a little bit. The original ti tip was too much for me. Also the glass stem seems too loose for me and having to put the oring is a big no no for me. Just make some changes in the design so we can have it in the woodscents when using the vapcap tip too because if I want a quick change its a pita.

I had some arizer ones that work wonders but for a lot of people it will be a great advice.

new toy on the way, thanks Ed! basically i vaped for several years without smoking because i was pretty secluded for awhile, starting my own business while working a regular job left me with little time to hang out with people sadly. i still saw them every week or so, but not like back in the day.

anyway i started seeing my friends much more regularly again now that the business is a bit more stable. my only vapes were basically made for solo vaping - e nano, firefly 2, and pax 3. the pax 3 was okay for groups but got extremely hot and had no replaceable battery(i live for efficiency and longevity), i never really liked it. so i started smoking again but only with friends, which quickly turned into all day, dammit. this was about a year ago, and i have found it near impossible to go back to vaping for whatever reason.

i decided i just needed a new toy to get me excited about it again ;D - queue VAS.

i have 3 e nanos - walnut 2x. and cherry. i also have a maple heat island, its lovely but i preer the e nano(sorry Alan!) one walnut is out on loan to an elderly friend of mine, about 85-90 years old. he cant stand smoking and cant afford a worthwhile vape, so i lent it to him without even thinking about it. needless to say he is thrilled with it. anyway i couldnt decide bwteen another e nano and a woodscents, mostly because of the enormous price difference. since i couldnt decide, hehe, i purchased BOTH!

a Buckeye Burl Woodscents and a stand, as well as 12 extra screens on the way! checked out just a few minutes ago. i also ordered a Maple Burl e nano, with 3 ice stems, walnut stand, and walnut dimmer(new model with wood base). next, i have a large 3 piece Rasta Santa Cruz Shredder*(OG was stolen months ago) incoming, a new d020(broke the first one) and one of these bad boys. EDIT: also a pax loading tool from newvape! https://www.dhgate.com/product/6-arm-percolator-honeycomb-ash-catcher-18mm/386972834.html. im... excited.. to say the least.

ill post detailed pictures of both units when they arrive :D

TLDR i spoiled the heck out of myself to get back into vaping. i ordered and have on the way -
Buckye Burl Woodscent with stand and extra screens.
Maple Burl E Nano with 3 ice stems, walnut stando, and walnut dimmer(With wood base) + more screens
LArge 3 piece Rastafarian Santa CRuz Shredder
D020 bubbler from DHGate
https://www.dhgate.com/product/6-arm-percolator-honeycomb-ash-catcher-18mm/386972834.html
pax loading tool from newvape(3x, i have people over often and we WILL be vaping from now on)

:cool::brow::tup::mental:

I wish there were more videos of people running this piece! I’ve seen Troy’s and VapelifeX’s videos and that’s it...I’m curious with people saying stems are wobbly, doesn’t that get annoying??

I’m curious how many of y’all high tolerance people run this at high temps? What’s the taste like on the higher end of the temperature spectrum? I understand that we’re talking very little amounts of medication at a time...

@Mako Kupo Damn VAS kickin' hard ! 2 logs at the same time xD

Looking forward to hear your thoughts ! I'd love to try an e nano & see how it compares to my WS.
All in all i think i'll end with a log vape collection, i just love this style of vaping/wood aesthetics too much

@grogazola I have an insanely high tolerance & be reassured the WS will deliver perfectly on high temps.

haha yeah, just a wee bit. itll be my 6th log, and i still own all of them even if two are out on loan. they are just so dang good. i dont look at it as having excess vapes, or "too many". i look at it as having some of the coolest most efficient vape for the rest of my life, with the possibility of passing them to my kids if they end up indulging. i plan to reach 10 logs, maybe one more WS, one more HI, and have not decided on others. maybe a new kind will come along! anyway, does anyone want to know anything specific for me to test? im going to try to go over as many things as possible, but there are so many theres no way ill remember them all.
