The Nomad From Morwood

I’m in the low 40s and I’m in the same boat. I am in no big rush. I want it to be something Dan can have some fun with. We’ve discussed some really cool ideas for the sleeve and his mockups have been incredible!

I’m there with you guys except I’m a bit more anxious to get mine since I don’t have anything else to fill the convection portable void in my life...

Still, I want him to finish it when he’s inspired and ready to do it, so I’ll wait until he is. I know it’ll be worth it in the end!

No idea which number or batch I am. Kinda adds to the excitement. Had shown my mockup on a Seshin w Troy vid. I look real dumb live and in combination w my phone and internet was crappy that day I was glitching out, but my Nomad mockup looked real nice lol. I'm assuming I'm somewhere on the tail of Batch 3 or somewhere in 4. I asked to be put on the tail of the Nomad 2 list to give me time to recoop some funds and really enjoy the one stand alone. Thinkin Maybe After Xmas or new years sooner would be nice tho. Also noticing a few diffrent pretty nice stem options other people been making. Oh man the money ima be spending

Posts like this make me lament not being in line to get a nomad I
The sleeves are just SO beautiful.
I agree. I was so excited for my build but when I heard the sleeve was going away I lost a lot of my love for this vape. Don't get me wrong it's still nice, but it lost its magic. A unicorn without a horn is just a horse. No offense or anything Dan. I still am blown away by your skill and craftsmanship. Much respect. I hope the next version has a compromise...

I think this is a shame as might ignore some other factors. The Nomad performs extremely well. The flavor is top notch and lasts longer through a bowl compared to others. It is capable of producing very whispy terpy hit as well as produce massive clouds. Its also very easy to clean and maintain.

Putting aside performance, the build quality is insane. No wires or circuit boards. All mechanical connections with an extremely clean air path. For those who are very particular about materials used due to potential health concerns, this is your dream device. All of the materials are high quality and the wood is premium in nature to say the least. I can't see anything going wrong with this device that couldn't easily be fixed and even then, I can't actually imagine this breaking to begin with. I love the simple but elegant design of this device. It is the perfect form factor. Small enough to easily fit in jeans pocket but large enough that it doesn't get swallowed by your hand.

And as others have already mentioned, working with Dan is a really cool experience. You can tell that he wants you to be happy with what he makes as every device is still a custom device, sleeve or not. So as to avoid sounding like a sycophant, I won't go further but I'm positive that those who have worked with him before know exactly what I'm talking about.

The Nomad 2 will be sleeveless and just slightly taller but nothing else has changed. From what I understand its overall an improvement over the Nomad 1. Now it has the opportunity to showcase the stunning wood that is used. I know some folks in the first batch and there are gonna be some insanely gorgeous Nomad 2s coming out of it. I'd reserve final judgement until those are in the wild. For me, this is device either takes the pole position in my collection or a very close second.

Hey how do we know when to stop inserting the stem? Is there something in the body that stops it at the right spot?

PS the custom build possess is pretty cool, Dans awesome.

There is hard stop that prevents the glass stem from going too far and touching the heater below it. This said, be careful in using a capsule at the end of the stem. The capsule lid will protrude from the bottom of the stem and can potentially touch the metal heater. I would not want that to happen while the heater is engaged. So while you can use a capsule, you should not rely on the Nomad's hard stop for the stem.

When I first heard read the email detailing the change to the Nomad 2 I was really disappointed. I really really REALLY love the sleeves that were coming out and I was beyond excited to start my design process. I've since come back around as my lust for wood has continued to grow and after looking at every scrap of info Dan has released on the Nomad his attention to detail in his work fuels my excitement. Plus those exotic species. Wow! Burls and Spalted woods fire me up . I love the Curly varieties as well as the Afzelia Xylay.

If Dan offered the option for a sleeve for the Nomad 2 or charged more for Nomad 1 I would jump on it in a heartbeat. I imagine his change to the 2 and eliminating the sleeves will speed up his creation process and I can respect that.

Thanks, I won't use capsules was mostly thinking aftermarket stems.

And I think I'll have Dan install the screen above the heater, so I can load it solo style with just the one screen in the back.

@flammy @SquirrelMaster I don't really want another vape in this form. I already have a MI2, TM and FireWood. I wanted a piece of art. The art was going to mean something to me too. :myday: We already had it worked out.

But I was a day late and a dollar short.
Again, I am not putting this vape down. If there was a sleeve option I would have paid extra. It's OK, we should all be used to missing out on things. This world is transient and I didn't try to order one until it's was too late. My loss. :bang::cry:

Totally understand and I don't want you to miunderstand me here. I don't think that you're putting this vape down at all. I get the disappointment and I truly empathize. Sorry if my reply came off the wrong way. I just really enjoy mine and as such I really want others to enjoy it too. I use mine pretty much every day.

I also have vapes that would seem to serve the same purpose...Mi2, FW5, FW6, LB, LBE (no TM for now and most likely for a long time)....but what I'm saying is that the Nomad is different and good enough (better IMO) to be worthy of ownership despite having other options. But again, I totally get why you'd be disappointed especially if you've already worked out a design. FWIW, I believe there might be some things in the works that will allow further customization in other aspects but I don't want to speak out of turn on that.

Maybe the batch 1 Nomad 2s will wow you enough to pull you off the fence!

I’m very glad to be getting what will be an awesome looking sleeve, but at the same time I love the Nomad II’s design and hope to have both eventually.

For those who missed out on the sleeves though, while speeding up the build process was a major factor in the Nomad II’s design changes, I think for the right price Dan would be willing to do some custom work on Nomad IIs as long as he has time.

I’m not sure exactly what he would be willing and able to do, but I think it’s worth at least asking him about it if you were really looking forward to designing a sleeve!

Just buy the paper, and the Nomad II, then grab a pair of scissors and some glue.

Sorted :)

Ive considered making a sleeve sleeve for mine but thats just me wanting to protect it. Who am I kidding this nomad isn't traveling anywhere. Mine may need a name change. Like the Dan Morrison "Precious". Seriously velour lined devoted shelf for this one. Well that's till I get further up on the 2 list. Lol. Would like to see more sleeves but maybe getting a leather guy to do a sexy little pouch would be sick. Oh I want it so bad I'm filling the void w shenanigans
