Discontinued Hopper io

EXCELSIOR!
Just personal preference, but I would far rather not rely on an auto feature to turn it on. To me, its unneeded added complexity and I turn my GH off and continue to draw for a second to cool the heater.

Can't do that with auto-draw.

A good bit of my view on this is also informed by an autodraw small mod for carts I have. Cart plugs, you can't turn the heater on to unclog it....because it ONLY has autodraw.

That's why I gave up on my auto draw ccell pen years ago, couldn't do
a cool down draw to stop oik creep.
I agree, it is what is clicker & all it would cost major delays & cost.
I've gone from 5 tp 3 with no water on my new "J" hook home Cool
cooling unit. You can take it out as a portable, but not very stealthy. :>)
I use a 18 to 14 adapter in my football lazy boy vape station.

Using the Hybrid Cano like this is a super upgrade to the
plenty type whip puller. This is just so smoother & easy to
get new again, iso. Smoothest GH hits at 3.

As long as the clicker button isn't removed. That click is so satisfying :)

It's definitely a must to be able to turn it off mid draw with the current hopper, and I bet even more so with a 65W and new geometry heater powering it.

But it would be really neat if on the second click it entered a draw detection mode

Old & In the Way
Works great on the Boundless Terp Pen, just remove the body and draw to activate and clean the coil.:2c:
True, but you still can't clear the airpath of vapor with a cleansing draw after the pen is off. It do get sticky in there...

My wife's hopper was not releasing a spent chamber like mine, it would be stickier, and for a while I thought she was getting hopper dirtier by lingering and taking too many hits per chamber, but it has been corrected since I reminded her to be taking that post power-down draw each time.

@Hopper Labs I have been trying to reply to John via the warranty portal to answer his question but there is no new message button.

I think someone has fixed this for you already. If not please let me know via PM and I will get it corrected today.

This is in line with our thoughts on a draw-detection-on feature for the Hopper. We do use draw-detection sensing to control some other aspects but not on-off of the device.

Thank you for pressing your advantage, the gh has changed my usage habits, always with the caveat of 'when it works..' currently have all three of my bodies out for repair. regardless, thanks.. with that said, one thing i would change is the design of the clip; i would change it to a wire clip, where the pivot point is the top of the back end (not the button) if it's a wire type the temperature select is "highlighted" by the clip. secondly it allows you to keep your gh deeper into your pocket lowering the potential of breaking the exposed backend. And obviously the gauge would be significant more so than I could animate here.

The 'hole' would extend up and over to create the temperature select window:

But in the current version; can you either make it more solid or flat, the 'walls' on the underside of the clip belie the thought that went into engineering it, however much went into it though the contact points are smaller than it would be if it were flat, losing clamping force so it feels out of place, its not as 'solid' so to speak even though the material choice was for shape retention. /rant

So no external upgrades that I can see.

No PFE as standard. Instead, sticking to the default mouthpiece that concentrates all the heat to the users lips. At the very least PFE or standard mouthpiece should be selectable at checkout.
Same cheap clip that scratches the body of the vape as the backend is taken on and off.
Both of these being the same as the old hopper is very disappointing to me.

Will my GHB2's work on the IO?

We have been explaining the differences in the last few pages of this thread. Please look back if you are interested. The standard mouthpiece remains with minor tweaks. The PFE will still be offered, the threading on the io also will remain compatible with the Grasshopper accessories so if you have a PFE already, you are ready to go. The io is a huge upgrade on the Grasshopper.

Now all that's left is a video and a comprehensive list of all additions with the io :)

I spy some black injection moulding on the back end? Does it extend to close the gap between dial and body?

White LEDs and better visibility looks neat.

I just enjoyed the second half of a chamber left for over 24 hours. Still had plenty of go. Got to love on demand convection.

Your eyes must be good (mine suck). Care to elaborate what you’re seeing in their admittedly poor phone pic (which looks ok, not great, to me)? I just see the standard gap between the dial and body. Not a big deal but curious. TGIF! :peace:

A crappy phone pic of the hopper io I have been hauling around. :)

io.a033a3b8e73f.jpg
Looks like a pretty good pic to me.

As I have stated (ad nauseam), I have two GH's of which one is perfect (yeah, after a few RMAs) and I'm back to using the GH regularly. I got this back from RMA not too long before the fire and I believe it has the new in-house heater. Just frakin love it and on that basis was going to buy another but the fire cut that off short.

Question: my other GH has been back a couple of times...I believe...and I think we even exchanged bodies at one point, and just runs far too cool to be usable. When will you be up and running stably in order to receive and process RMAs. I would like it fixed though I do plan on buying an IO when they are GA.

But, I do agree with the member above....I'm fine with the form factor EXCEPT I agree that you should lose the pen pocket clip. Who the heck is walking around with one in their shirt pocket (or pocket protector for you very old school geeks haha) except maybe just show off that you can get away with it. It does indeed scratch the body. Now, if you have a bunch of back end outer enclosures with the pen clip already on them...ok, i get it, they need to be used. But please do consider dumping the clip as a feature request for future production.

Oh...and how goes repair to your perm facility or are you going to stay where you are at.

Cheers

It just looks extra black, the plus and the ticks

Hopper io --- io = instant on
  • Zero heat-up time. Click it, and it is ready to use right away
  • Temp high end is now 430f/221c
  • Complete redesign of the backend (50% reduction in contact surfaces, gold plating on existing surfaces, black plastic molded into machined tick marks for better visibility, smoother dial action, increased battery contact pressure, and self-cleaning battery contact.)
  • Completely new internal heater topology allowing 65-watts of power, greater efficiency, cooler operation per-unit extraction.
  • Many many other changes which I will get into as we roll out more info online.

Ah, ok. Perhaps. Not that big of a deal to me. I thought you were referring to the gap between the dial and the body.

As for the clip, yes it does scratch but I like having it and can use it, gently, as leverage to unscrew the backend. I know it’s a weak reason (literally & figuratively) and I’ve also used it to stir the chamber on occasion when I didn’t have anything else at hand. I also like that it rests better in my leather case from Delta3DStudios by @Ratchett - the best accessory I’ve purchased for my Hopper. After 3.5 years it still looks new and functions perfectly and suits my needs all too well. TGIF to all - and now to use my wonderful pre-order Ti... :leaf::peace:

As much as I love my Grasshopper, and wanting to love the io, proprietary battery remains too much a concern for me.
I'm looking at my seven GHB2 in my drawer, and knowing only one of them can hold more than one bowl is not admissible for me, environmentally speaking it's just an additional waste I cannot participate to.
It's THE perfect device for outside and yet lack of autonomy and too hot mouthpiece have not been addressed. Sorry about the negativity, I'm just sad truly.

Yes, maxvapor kit sounds like the solution for usage at home. Really cool Option.
The batteries used to garbage surounds us but maybe the eco friendly batterie is near.
If the gh ain't that tasty and milky, well, a lot of our vaping related concerns would be little. So many good devices out there. I like the Look and feel of the hopper but the same more or less with other vapes.
The way it produces vapor, tons of it and delicious even at high temp with that little herb... I do not name the big desktops cause we all know them for sure. Big heaters, big stuff at all but they cannot deliver this type of vapor.
Some magic happens when the gh works as it should.
That's why I love my gh and the reason why I keep waiting.
