Vaping unground flowers

Andreaerdna

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
I am trying to get rid of grinding and looking for good performers in this category in terms of evenness of the roast, easy to use and to the lungs (i do not want to suck too much hot air)

From my experience:

Vapcap works very good, almost as with grinding (the core of the nug stll a little clear but minimal)

Less good but acceptable are Heat island with stainless microdosing tip and apollo too if i break in little nugs and cover the screen (bowl is huge)

On demand convection not at all good performers with unground flowers IMO (instant heat, IMp,..), they work if you need a little flavor puff but performance loss is more important

Also my vapmans (which are not convection) need grinding to perform well (very thin bowl, not easy to fill with raw nugs)

What about PAX and Davinci? Something else?

The supreme vaporizer doesn’t require your herb to be ground, you can just squish it in or tear it up a little if loading into a stock stem, but if you use a 14f/18m adapter as a makeshift bowl you can load larger nugs.

This seems soooo... fruitless?

Seems you are eliminating potentially TONS of excellent vaporizers because of laziness?
For just a little effort in grinding, you will have so many more options.

What you call laziness for me is simplicity and purity. Also you risk less to inhale organic dust if you use ungrounds material, but that is just me

thank you for the contribution, it was fruitless indeed

When my throat is irritated, I try to reduce the amount of vaping by switching over to concentrates. One small rosin hit is equivilent to several flower hits. I am about 90% concentrates these days for effectiveness and ease of use.

I like the occasional vapcap session too, but the hits can be harsh.

Concentrate looks very interesting

have been discouraged by rising tolerance risk but it does look the best way to go

It's been discussed that you can build a tolerance for a particular strain or style of vaping. I believe this, as I noticed it myself. I had built quite a tolerance for vaping rosin. When I started experimenting with the vapcap again I started using flower after a long hiatus. One bowl of flower through the VC was getting me higher than a rosin hit, or at least that's what my brain was telling me. By mixing up the vaping experiences; different strains, different styles of vaping, I believe you get better results overall. IMHO.

I try nuggets in all my vapes and it always works if you adjust your expectations. The path of the session is different, but the destination of the same. I rarely grind for conduction or hybrid vapes anymore.

I agree with @stickstones  You guys are rocking the Modern Cannabists! Thanks for the great and thoughtful content!

Making and vaping / dabbing rosin as the only means of inhaltion for a few year almost turned me off to cannabis in general right now im on a complete break from all inhaltions due to this, and only use edibles.

100% I had a better relationship with cannabis before rosin and dabbing,

However, this is not true for everyone, I def have some crazy prone-to-addiction traits not to blame anyone els than myself, but i can see this on my fathers side of the family with drinking and drug abuse etc. - But maybe im lucky i found out i had some addictive traits thru rosin and not had to learn it from something worse, like heroin.

that was first uveiled to me when i started making my own rosin, lol xP

First vaporizer that comes to mind: the Vaponic, a butane powered vaporizer that is ideal for microdosing. Hits are very cool and the taste is top notch. Downsides: it doesn't have a temperature indicator (like the Vapcap click) and therefore it takes a few bowls to get the desired results. And it's fragile, because it consists of mostly glass parts.

I love my Supreme 3v2 and my jcat mod. But vaping whole nugs on it has the obvious downside that some cannabinoids remain stuck on the flower. I do nugs as well on Mighty and Fierce but only when I have plenty of cannabis. I’d like to try an herbalaire that is said to be able to extract everything but whole nugs means wasting cannabinoids. And collecting Abv for later use is not for me anymore.

Solo 2 (and 1 I suppose) actually works well with unground nugs. I break them up enough to remove the stems and then just cram them in there. Flavor is excellent. Session takes longer, but I like it. Maybe not the most efficient use of flower, but its a change of pace

I think multiple smaller hits can have their own efficiency? I like to blow massive clouds too but I have to figure that there is a limit to how much my lungs can absorb in a single hit

I rarely grind my buds.
Like @stickstones said, fine if you adjust your expectations.... and your technique.

I start with 3 or4 individual calyxes in just about any model of vape. I use a lab grade Vetus tweezers to gently twist offf each calyx and keep all the goodies intact.

Low temps for those first pure tasting hits—- hits which are less intense vs ground buds with all their exposed surface area. But very flavorful

Then, open the chamber and a gentle squeeze with the tweezers and the now super dry bud easily falls apart to expose maximum surface area. The next hits are then big full bodied, at higher temps to cache the load.

If my flowers see a grinder, they yell to me, “Noooo, not the grinder, we want the tweezer!”

No grind = the gentle approach but still with full extraction
