Simrell Collection

I will be getting a Blackwood Vortex with intercooler as an early Christmas present. Austyn has been fun to work with, and I'm really looking forward to sitting around the game table over the holidaze puffing on my Blackwood Vortex.

The 'plain' Ti isn't getting kicked to the curb; it will be used for out and about. And I'm out and about a lot.

The Vortex has made me fall in love with the vapcap all over again.

Sorry for the back-to-back, but it was over a week ago.

My Blackwood Vortex with Intercooler arrived in today's mail. Man oh man. For me, Austyn has produced the perfect Dynavap after-market stem.

It's gorgeous, especially if you're into minimalism and clean lines, works better than the original, by a lot, and is ridiculously easy to maintain. Easier than the original.

It's the only way I'll use the vapcap natively ever again. It's fabulous with my J-Hooks when I choose, and it's at least 90% as good as my DDave Water Wands with my water pieces. You could easily make the case that a Simrell Collection Vortex is the only vapcap stem you'd ever need.

And I'll say it again. It's worth every penny.

As did I....mine is here and it is a gamechanger....best aftermarket stem for dynavap bar none!!!
Yeah I'm still getting a feel for it. My buddy has a 18M and it's completely different. A very nice experience. Great air flow and great form. It's so comfortable to hold and use. I am getting great hits off it and it feels very nice. I get toothy with some of my vapes and this shows NO scratches. I don't like cleaning it but again it's not that bad I just have to get the stem hot with water when it's clean to make sure everything evaporates at the end.
Because it is so light weight it doesn't feel expensive but it functions exactly how I had hoped. It's a very nice stem.

I got an induction heater coming tomorrow. cannot wait to spend the weekend playing with both. you are right that stem is very light. i wish i had gone custom and gotten one a little longer. i am still learning it as well.

Simrell vortex stem in combo with an induction heater is an unbelievable combo. i just need to add another omnivap to my collection. i put this stem thru the paces this weekend and she performed better than expected. getting more hits when i use the induction heater than when i use the lighter.

I just got my Vortex

I'm cleaning it right now - does the intercooler come out for cleaning or stay in?
Take some tweezers and pull it right out then you can use a brush and some alcohol and it's a straight shot down the stem and you can really get in the spiral of the intercooler too. It only takes me maybe 3 minutes with iso, a brush, and some hot water.

Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out how to remove it. Thanks!

Sounds like your intercooler stays in place and doesn't move around with the tip removed? Mine just falls right out when I hold it vertically with the tip removed. And it even rattles around inside with the tip on until a couple of bowls have gone through to leave some "glue" to hold it in place. I found it slightly annoying, but figured it was just the way it was. Every time I clean the Vortex the rattle resurfaces. Now I'm thinking the tolerance on my intercooler might be a little off.

Does anyone else's intercooler seem loose like mine?

Mine's tight too. Easy to remove with tweezers though but no rattle or slippage

Really been enjoying the Vortex. May consider an anodized one at some point. I like how it can just rip a load in like 2 hits.

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
what exactly makes this different then regular vapcap?

i am curious too.

Is it due to the stem being narrower on the end adding extra flow restriction and cooling effect given by the vortex ?

i love the shape of it

IMO, the air restriction is less and the intercooler really does a fantastic job of cooling the vapor. Besides that it's very light weight (I would like it to feel a little more substantial) and comfortable in the hand. There is something to the teardrop hole too. I really like the control you get as you open the port to lower that throat feel that might make you stop your draw.
It's not a must have stem imo but it's definitely a fantastic stem and it does what Austyn said it does. I am very happy that it's my only vapcap setup.

That would be my only complaint with this stem..i wish weighed just a bit more...dont know why i just wished it did. I will say this when paired with an induction heater its a win win situation!!

Vapes R Great
Had a SimRell vortex since BlackFriday. My only criticism right now it it gets a little warm compared to a omni and I kinda wish for a little texturing for spinning or grip.

A custom wood stem I have from him as well and is not a vortex stem. I can tell the difference with the intercoooler for sure. But vapor is more condensed of course in the inter cooler.

would recommend to all vapcap heads to get a SimRell stem or two in your life!

I even hit him up Austyn about a particular style, that he wasn’t making anymore at the moment but he offfered to sell me his personal one he had left in his collection. Now that’s a stand up guy.

Predordered today on lacentralevapeur.com (EU so no customs fees for me) can’t wait to try

Andreaerdna,
I’m in the process of buying a Simrell stem. Can anybody recommend the shorter version over the longer one? What are some pros and cons of both versions that you owners suggest??

I'm so interested in this. Reviews I've seen on reddit seem to say that the difference is very slight, but I've only found two reviews where the owners had both a long and short stem. I reckon that since it just came out, we'll need a month or more before we get a few more.

Less soul, more mind
I remember Austin himself saying on Modern Cannabists that the differences between the regular XL and the short Vortex is mainly the handling, not so much the quality of the vapor.
