The hookah style sounds very interesting. It could be ideal for groups for simultaneous inhalations. I think once that exists it's going to be the way to go for small parties. More and faster vaping go rounds and quicker ABV collection for future brownies.

My main concern is whether the unit will be able to maintain ideal temps with x amount of ppl hitting it at the same time. It better have some pretty damn good heat retention or smart temp controller, or both. I mean, a dbv/ssv heating element can be dimmed by one person hitting them, i imagine multiple simultaneous hitting could be a problem.

my thoughts exactly. that's why it is just an idea for now. I was contacted to do a vape like that and will try and see what the results are. My guesses are that my lower wattage heating element will not keep up to three people drawing on it.

I've also been considering doing a larger sized vaporizer if someone wanted a showpiece similar to a hookah-style setup. I would probably have 2-3 ports for vapor-tube connections, would employ tubing for simultaneous vaporizing of more than 1 persons, but this is just an idea! - don't throw just stones yet...

Something similar to this I made...

LOL This reminded me of the Kremlin at first glance.
Awesome designs! Keep em comin!

It came in and its a beauty!!!! Also Wes thanks for throwing in the little glass pick, it looks so cool I am afraid of breaking it!!

Ok Wes, ??? time

So I didn't see any instructions, what do you recommend I set this to to warm it up? Full blast? And how long should I let it run since it is the first time? Lastly, do you pull vapor from all the units to ensure they are working optimally?

A full review will be up later today after I figure it out

Thanks again you were a pleasure to work with!

Wow that was quick, the full instructions will be up on the site (tentatively: new years). I wasn't planning on sending so many out before the site is up but I can send you a document with some "pointers" or I could just post them up.

Don't worry if you think that the vapor tubes may be a tighter fit, it takes a few uses to get them worn together to get a nice seal...

I tested the units twice before they leave my shop, to extend the life of the heater the manufacturer recomends that you run them at half power for just a few minutes to burn out an possible moisture that may be present during its dormancy whether its in shipping or sitting on your desk. after a minute or two I usually crank it up and start enjoying in 20 +/- minutes.

I have dropped several of my picks from the desk and they haven't given me a problem, they are made from borosilicate glass and annealed in my kiln to reduce all the stress in the glass... I had fun making them, hope you have fun using them...

first time use? no big differences, I find that as time goes on my vaporizer is more responsive to the temperature control. I'll check back frequently today to see if you have any more questions...

Vaporizer / Diffuser Operating Instructions ;

:peace: Overall adjustment: The OCD vaporizer is fully adjustable, on the front of the unit is the adjuster or rheostat that controls the temperature of the unit as well as serving as an on/off function by turning it all the ways counter-clockwise until you hear and feel a slight click. The full range of the adjuster spans 320 degrees on the dial.

:peace: The OCD vaporizer will reach full heating range within 17-25 minutes depending on climate/ambient room temperature; you can turn the vaporizer on full power at first to reach your required heat temperature more quickly. (For reference our vaporizer hits 392F in 22 minutes at an ambient temperature of 78F in high humidity that is with our dial set at the 5 o'clock setting). If you leave your vaporizer on the fullest power for an extended period of time, which would be all the way clockwise, you may exceed 400F which is a temperature that you may notice significant combustion/burning of any plant material. If this happens, take note of the position and dial it back a few degrees for further reference.

:peace: Once the optimal temperature has been reached for your herbal blends, you can dial back the power a little; this may take one or two trials in order to achieve maximum efficiency of your blends but will result in the overall effectiveness of your blends to increase; If you find that your blends are becoming burnt, dial it down, and on the other hand if you think that you are not achieving the maximum from your herbs, simply dial it up a little. You will generally be able to see a change in color as well as an overall dryness in your herbs but will differ greatly from herb to herb.

:peace: We do recommend that you use only dry finely ground herbal blends, leave them out overnight slightly uncovered or set them aside till that achieve a dryer state. Dryer herbs will be easier to grind but will differ from herb to herb.

:peace: Only turn the vaporizer on when in use. It is a device that creates heat, treat it like an iron. Never leave a vaporizer on and unattended.

:peace: To use the vapor tube properly: dry and grind your herbs (to ensure maximum efficiency and transfer) and use the vapor-tube to suck up the dry herbs like you would a straw. We do not recommend trying to forcibly pack herbs in the tube, it should be lightly packed, usually the vacuum created by your breathe while sucking the herbs in the end of the tube is enough to fully pack the entire vapor tube.

:peace: Insert the vapor-tube into the hole in the OCD vaporizer that is about 4/5's of the way up the unit. It is not crucial to try to insert the tube all the way into the hole in the unit, as long as proficient seal has been made, that is all that is necessary.

:peace: We recommend taking long draws from the vapor-tube, which would be longer more consistent and stable in contrast to "hitting it"; it which would be a more powerful, short, and abrupt withdrawal from the unit. Long consistent draws allow air entering the top of the unit to absorb more heat from the (heating) element creating a more sustainable temperature when reaching your herbal blends at the beginning of your vapor-tube.

:peace: Do note: these are just my preferences, if you feel as though you have found your harmony between your herbal blends and the vaporizer, go with it. I personally like to mix up the blends with my herbal pick; in between draws, allowing the maximum heat transfer to all of the particles in the blend to take place, while this might be overkill for some (I can generally get 1 or 2 more hits after a quick stir with the tool). I do advocate efficiency in proactive ideas to conserve herbal blends, if you have any that you think might work for the OCD, just shoot me and email

Quick impressions:

OH MY.

I have never had a hit like that with that small amount of weed!! (for reference I dumped a full MZ bowl into a 4 inch vapor tube as a test hit) That really felt more like I ripped from my DBV, honest. Wes you have completely outdone yourself, this has shattered some pretty high expectations! I want to stop using exclamations but it is getting tough!

I set the temp to about 5:30 (right about max) and let it sit about 30 min. I hit it like I would my zap nice and slow, taking a good 10 second drag. Then it hit me. I blew out a massive vapor cloud, choked, and could only smile afterward. It felt kinda hot so I dialed back to 3:00 for maybe 4 more quick hits as I was in a hurry. ABV was a nice even brown, and I still had a ways to with crushing and increasing temp. Detailed reveiw upcoming when I get a chance.

Oh yeah both my tubes (4 and 6 inch) fit very nicely into a 14 mm gong joint. so I guess no whip for me!!

Wes holy shit man get ready for a tidal wave of business in the next few months! You rocked it

Wow, that's pretty excellent. That's a beautiful touch to trick out the base like that and I'd have gladly paid more (*seriously*) if I knew it was an option. :o

Is that sort of working going to be an available option later?

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear and I had a hunch just by how this thread started out that I was seeing something special appear. Had to leap on it. Now I'm hella excited about my order.

After those pics and the review, I think I found my next vape. Any way to see what's available for purchase, or is it still in the pre-production/review stages? Thanks in advance!

I also have just came back from traveling up north and was able to pick up some beautiful FSC certified IPE (super tough, wonderfully dark wood).

That is some really cool wood, IPE or Brazilian walnut, also known as Ironwood because it is so strong you can't drive a nail through it, has the same fire rating as concrete and steel. Ipe has a janka hardness of 3680; in comparison to California Redwood at 420, this hardwood is 8 times the hardness. It's negative though is its dust that can cause a number of respiratory and contact dermatitis allergic reactions in humans.

Ooo, nice find. Unless that was something you already knew. in which case, congrats on the encyclopedic wood knowledge you've amassed  This could be cause for concern for our intended uses of the wood i'm guessing? Unfortunate, because i like everything else i'm hearing about it lol.
