MaxVapor E-Nail - 2018 Version

received my controller last night and set it up and ran through its paces a bit. A few initial questions and observations...

It's small! Like really, really small. Could be a great portable option instead of a torch for when I dab while traveling.

no manual within the box but was able to get it online. Setup and wifi was pretty straightforward.

At first I was getting big fluctuations on temp. I set it to 620 and it was constantly swinging from a range of 580-650. As such I decided to run the auto tune feature. It took probably 30 minutes or so to complete (longer than I expected) but after that held temp quite steady. I am hopeful I dont have to re-run this any time I switch to other coils and back.
Anyone know?

It took forever for the coil to cool down when I turned the set temp to 0. I would say somewhere between 30-45 minutes to reach sub 100 degrees.
is this normal?

I turned auto timer off but I am thinking I need to turn it on. With it off the screen stayed constant. Interesting it said the temp of the coil was between 79-80 degrees. It never dipped below and kept changing fractions of a degree.
Is this what I should expect with the device in standby or when the set temperature is off?
Will the auto shutoff fix this?

Dashboard interface on my phone is clunky but works. Like it says 1 device connected but also zero on the same widget. But it was displaying temp and I could change the set temp and turn the coil off. tUrning the coil on and off wasn't totally clear either but it did work.

Overall, a good first experience that I feel has room to be maximized as I understand its capabilities more

What did you have hooked up? Quartz banger? Flowerpot?

Sounds normal to me, if you are using a banger you can slip the coil off for a faster cool down, but when paired together it definitely takes longer to cool with the nail acting as an insulator. I've also turned a fan on a couple times when I've needed to force a faster cooldown. Ambient temp seems to make the biggest difference here.

The thermocouple is still measuring the coils temperature which will be based on the ambient air temperature of your room, it won't ever read zero unless you're in a 0 degree room. The auto shutoff timer is only operating in regards to the coils power - auto shut off alone won't power down the controller completely, like an outlet on a timer would; but it will cease heating the coil from your set duration.

Yes, hooked up to a New Vape Weedeater. My auber cooled quite quickly so just making sure this made sense.

I assumed that on the reading of ambient. It just seemed to me that uses more energy than needed if left on 24/7. Some sort of standby or quasi-shutdown might reduce energy usage and also life of the controller

@MAbud the electronics should draw less than 3 watts with both WiFi and Bluetooth enabled (max power scenario), it is a very low power device when not heating a coil.

If you have any suggestions for improving the widgets, please send us an email and I am sure we can get it sorted out. The data shown in the widgets may be slightly behind realtime until we can finish our database upgrades over the next few days.

I will do that for sure. I will include some screenshots to make it easy to see what I am saying.

2nd usage/session last night was great! Came up to temp quickly and stayed rock solid. Sometimes with my auber I would see a 10 degree dip when removing the coil from my heat post, but the MV stayed solid.

Additionally, being able to monitor and control temps while putting my kids to bed was so awesome! Everything was exactly dialed in and waiting for me.

I am still figuring out how hard to push and for how long to get a control. Like sometimes I change the temp on the knob and press the button and it doesn't take and then I go back in and hold the press/click down longer and it does. Little nuances that I am still getting used to. But so far so good

what changes did you make here?

lol My bad I read your last post too fast/stoned, I thought you were looking to adjust the knobs sensitivity, I don't believe that setting changes anything regarding clicking the knob inward though.

Thanks. I will still play around with it and see. As the both turning the knob and clicking it is a bit clunky for me still.

Firmware 0.1.25 has been released:
  • [FEATURE] New Menu Setting for Button Press Sensitivity.
  • [CHANGE] Button Press Sensitivity.
  • [CHANGE] Knob Turn Sensitivity.
  • [BUGFIX] WiFi / Bluetooth Coexistance.

We have reworked the default button and knob sensitivity as well as how the knob adjustment setting works. There is also a new setting for button sensitivity. Setting these to lower values will cause them to be more sensitive and vice-versa.

Well dam I never would have thought a software change would fix my knob but since I did the update it is working great! Thanks.

Honestly, this is a HUGE improvement in day-to-day usage. The control over the knob is sooo much improved. Really nice job

@maxvapor710 happy holidays! I’ve come across a small thing I’d love updated...

so if I set the temp on the box itself and then tap the knob to turn it off the next time I press the knob it will remember the previous set temp and start there. However, if I am using the dashboard and turn the coil off then when I press the knob next it’s at 0.0 degrees. When you turn the coil off on the dashboard it’s almost like I have to create a fake set point and also turn the coil to off. Would be good to be able to turn the coil off remotely without it resetting the box to zero degrees. Thanks!

@maxvapor710 also when the unit loses WiFi connection there should be a way to trigger it back on. Right now I get to settings and disable WiFi and then enable WiFi. But would be nice to do it in one step like a reconnect

Thank you for your business as always. I believe your unit was shipped out late this afternoon. I am not sure if it made todays cutoff to get scanned in but you should have it early next week.

And since @MAbud declined the offer we have 1 refurbished unit available for $279, if anyone would like to claim it just send me a PM.

Refurbished units carry the same warranty as a new unit and contain all new electronics.
Luv my refurbished unit & thank you so much! You & Shane (710 Coils) = 100!

so refreshing to see how on it you guys are for your customer base!
They are the best

@710Coils is seriously the best if you want to have the proper experience with a @maxvapor710 unit. His Quartz Nails are perfectly made with his amazing Coils. And also a great bubble cap. All I can say is, MV & 710 Coils all day! By far the best in the business at their crafts!

Team NO SLEEP!
I've noticed the controller has been sold out for some time. Will you be releasing any more?

Thanks brother! Hope you are staying safe!

Very refreshing to hear!
I've been lusting for one of your units for SOOOO long, I think I gotta bite the bullet:tup:

It's the only thing I use anymore, even when I travel somewhere I still bring the MaxVapor if there's a power outlet around. Their carry case fits the controller, my 710coils banger setup, and my sapphire convection vaporizer setup - all in one small box. Crazy small truly, the level of vapor firepower I can pack in that little case.

If you want an American made controller that is super small and super sturdy, with updatable architecture the MV is a killer unit

@invertedisdead we are going to add the maxtronics to the tsunami. Spoke with dj yesterday. Wheels are in motion. All made in Florida USA. I'm glad to see your happy with yours. At this point I'm planning on sticking with the stock screen. Your wisdom is much appreciated. Stay safe.
I have a Peak and a Liger and a million dabbing devices already, but if you release a tsunami with the max vapor enail inside its a guaranteed purchase from me! I’ve already been considering getting one, and it seems ideal to get it in the tsunami.
