Buds look brownish black...as if they’re burnt. Has anyone seen this? Should I worry?

Not sure if this could be mould. I didn’t consume these flowers but did consume the other beautiful flowers in the bag.

A few sketchy gg4 flowers from a local MOM. Posted this on Reddit a few weeks ago no one knew what itwas.

Some of these flowers glow pink/purple in uv light. I thought it was weird that part of the stem waspink/purple. Is that normal???

I always thought I knew a lot about cannabis. but getting off combustionreally shows me how little about theplant/flower that I truly knew!!

it’s possible it was just turning a different colour

to be honest, the best way to describe it was like it was burnt but it wasn’t burnt...

or almost hashy?

does anything look sketchy there? my new volcano is here and I can’t deal with this sub par bud haha

will be stepping my game up next grab!!!

thank you! I think it may have been wet...that could definitely be a problem....mould?

would that explain the pink glow under light on the stems and bud?

there were some other buds mixed in with something that looked more like burned edges (almost hashy)

Edit - maybe my source did the orange peel trick! would this explain it?

for clarification, dry buds mixed with orange peel is supposed to rehydrate buds. I used to do it but I think it reduced the potency.

It's very hard to tell without taking a personal look – two ideas: 1. Weed can get burned by the light when lamps are too strong or too close, which would explain why your buds only partially look burned. 2. Some deficiency syndromes can make the bud look like that, same with some forms of overfertilization.

yes. I am worried about mold or mildew! I know nothing about mold or mildew tho lol

after researching, I see the mold on buds is typically known as Botrytis. do you (or anyone in this kind forum) know if other moulds would could be present on buds?

To me it doesn't really look moldy (again: from the distance), because its missing that cobweb-like or dusty look that is typical for mold.

I think it's been bruised by being manhandled too much during the dry process and probably sold on while it was still too wet.

Now I think if it - it’s definitely looks like it was wet.

I told my source - they haven’t replied and I don’t think they well. Another source bites the dust...

Do you think that these flowers are harmful? They’re so gross looking I don’t want them, but I vaped an O of the flower in the same bag!

If its bud rot, it starts on the inside. Take a bud and pull it apart. If its gooey inside its most likely bud rot. Mold on the outside will usually show as white dots with magnification. Good luck!

not gooey inside. very dry tho.

its definitely lighter inside but no signs of gooeyniess or webbing but it’s dry.

I really need a magnification glass - I’m more worried about the brown part

it almost looks bruised, wet, or burnt(?) by a grow light??

I do appreciate your concern and your reply!!

The buds definitely look like they were wet at some point. When I received them they were dry.

Would most assume the flowers were wet and/or bruised?

I avoided vaping the really gross looking flowers (3g out of 28)

Looks like bud rot to me. Caused by moisture and lack of proper air circulation. I wouldn't vape or us it myself. Google bud rot.

Has it been cold where that plant has been grown?? It looked like the buds turning blue/purple due to cold imo.
Impossible to be 100% from a pic. But it's not bud rot...

I’m up in Canada (southern Ontario), and it’s been pretty cold for the last month and a half...

Yes, it spreads by releasing spores. It thrives in damp cool conditions.

Would you mind describing what to look for regarding the dusty look? I've been nervous lately as I've gotten into the CBD hemp flowers and there's been some problems with mold last harvest. Then I noticed on a normal weed strain I've got that it's got tons of white frosting - I'm pretty sure it's just trichome-y as hell, but I can't shake the paranoia. I took a picture and zoomed in, looks just like trichomes, but could also be considered dusty perhaps. (can post if helpful but I'm just curious if there's an easy way to distinguish the dusty look - there's no cobweb appearance on any of my buds, and I think I'd be able to identify that as I've seen good photos of it)

@Slotheus – A good magnifying glass will make it easy to tell whether it's trichomes or mold. Once mold is visible, it will give off a distinctive smell as well.

Yes, I've been looking at images and reading about mold for a couple of days. I'm just still having trouble, probably just paranoia, but here's a picture of my bud that I'm curious about (sorry, not a great pic). I'm pretty sure it's fine, doesn't resemble the photos I've seen of mold, but would you mind glancing and see what you think?

As far as a smell, this strain has a really unique smell to it but it doesn't smell like what I would imagine mold to smell like. I'm thinking it's just dank with trichomes and I need to vape some and chill out...

I've torn apart some buds and there's no discernible difference within.
