The Runt from SBL

Got a runt recently to round out my collection (LMAO!?).

I'm blown away by it tbh. I used it dry with the included mouthpiece for the first bowl and it was a good experience.

But that sticky brick bubbler?... (insert Ric flair) wooooooooooooooooo. Holy shit. What a great little add on.

If you've got a runt or Jr and vas hits.... Grab that bubbler instead of a new unit.

Did I mention how well it's made? Or how I can take the bottom brick bowl off, and leave the bubbler attached and it still stands on it's own without tipping?

I seriously love this vape. The hits are so satisfying and i know I'm not even close to honing in my technique yet.

Nice @caseball2051! I've always had my eye on it, but haven't pulled the trigger. I haven't seen a video of anyone using one!

I accidentally combusted in the flip brick the other day, so I went back to the runt while I was cleaning the flip. The runt is damn near perfect all around. Much more "casual" feel, like you can ride out a bowl a little more. The runt hasn't been getting as much love lately cause I'm trying to get a real good idea about what the flip is.

My first brick was the original flipbrick. The runt is so much easier to use.

With the flip i prefer a bigger flame and then back it off. If you have the older version buy the new flame intake, it does make it easier to control. But i don't wanna get off topic!

I have the Hydro-brick, which is fantastic, but the Runt is one Ive had in my shopping cart several times.
I'm sure I will pick one up at some point. I often use the hydro-brick just like a portable so I figured it would just be the same thing. I still want a Runt though. Glad to see so many positive experiences with it.

I've had either a Maxx or Hydro in my cart each time SBL has a sale. Same thing, I'm sure one day I'll snatch up a Maxx.

Here is the latest video I've shot with the runt. Notice I don't have to break down anything besides the herb brick when I'm done with the hit. I can stir, empty, reload, all without breaking down my glass setup. Fun to use, easy to handle.

First time using and covered the carb. After a while I could feel the heat coming out. Is that what the corks are for or am I doing something wrong?

What's crackin homie.

Some people prefer to "feather" the carb, meaning remove and replace their finger over the carb quickly. This feathering can increase the temp in the intake brick very quick. Others will keep a finger over their brick and use the carb once to clear a hit. Some have even said they only use the cork when they use their runt through water.

Personally, I never take the cork out, and from experience, I would leave it in when first learning. When you try and manipulate the carb by feathering, it's another variable that you have to have an understanding about before you get consistent results. When first learning, setup the brick one way and stick with it until results are consistent, even if consistently bad. Some frustration is inevitable, but I believe more frustration comes from changing several variables (carb, draw speed, flame power, flame angle, bowl tamp, disk in/out, material moisture) at a time expecting to magically achieve results.

Again, I leave the carb corked. The great thing about the runt, is that when I want to clear my hit, I simply break off the bowl chamber from the rest of the runt. I can check the bowl before I'm even finishing my inhale, so I'm getting that visual feedback almost instantly. Also, I'm gonna stir the bowl for another hit, so breaking off the bowl allows me to stir right away. It's so quick of a ritual, definitely one of the things about the runt that keeps it in the rotation.

Thanks will try at it again.

Its frustrating but that also sets up the excitement when you get progress.

Has anyone tried covering the 'air intake' hole when drawing? I just received my Runt and I seem to be getting thicker vapour, but curious if it's all in my head or negatively affects the performance.

Just handed my Runt to a friend who has hit it without problem a good amount before just combined an entire bowl. I immediately got some hot water and cotton swabs and began cleaning. Let it dry and 3 bowls of vaping later there is still the lingering taste. I’m pretty salty about it because it tasted soooo amazing before. Any way I can get trust taste back so I don’t stay a little upset? Cleaned for a half hour with warm water and lots of cotton swabs. Been through about 3 bowls of vaping and there is still a lingering taste with low temp hits. I didn’t take out the screen at the bottom of the bowl because it looked so perfectly installed and wasn’t sure if I should take it out. Any further cleaning recommendations? I Posted this to the sticky brick forum but thought I’d submit it here too. Thanks for any tips and tricks.

I popped out my screen and put a dry q-tip through the smaller connecting hole. Came out pretty black the first few times.

Just dumped the glass into a container of iso last night. Will see.

Hoping the burnt flavor will eventually subside.

How was it getting the screen back in? Is it concave again and does it look like it did when you got it?

I will check tonight. I will probably form it with fingers a bit then just push it back in.

Per @nonamekevin (glad you still around brother), this might fit, or you can find something similar.

Anyone know the diameter of the mouthpiece? I'm trying to get some custom glass made for my runt

He said in a 420vapezone video that they’re 3/4 inch holes. Just factor in for the gasket I guess. Sorry if that’s not too helpful.

I meant combusted* not combined just seeing this. My spelling mixed with autocorrect is atrocious.

Anyone know if there is a WPA similar to this for the Runt? Looking to use a small generic bubbler with it.

Is it a bad idea for a first-timer to take the restrictor disc out and not use it EVER? I am interested in less powerful hits and consuming less butane fluid. With a single-flame small torch. I green out too easily so want to avoid any Dragon Clouds.

Hello friend,

My opinion, leave it in. You determine the size of the hit, not the restrictor disc. The disc makes the whole process less of a hassle, which means a more enjoyable experience. Whatever you choose to do, stick with one setup for an entire torch-full so you can get a feel for it. When it's time to refill the torch, change ONE variable only (disk in/out, carb in/out, tamp or don't tamp, etc). Consistency is important.

Thanks. I was under the impression that you had to use a bigger flame when using the restrictor disc and I thought that it sounds like it would waste more butane. I was thinking about learning the technique without the restrictor disc at all from day 1. Using a single flame torch that is even weaker than the Honest torch that comes with the Runt.

I saw one of your videos on YouTube. Do you primarily use your runt with water or just straight up? I hope it is not too harsh on the throat, but we shall see...... it is still IN TRANSIT. I wish I had ordered on Monday but I couldnt decide between the Flip Brick or the Runt and kept going back and forth. So It probably wont arrive before Thanksgiving because I took too long to decide.

This will be my first StickyBrick, I already own 2 Dynavaps. And an E-Nano log vape that is my primary daily driver (with a small bong). Thanks alot for your past posts I have been reading everything as I wait impatiently and will probably read the entire forum of all models of StickyBrick

Awesome, I'm glad that my old video has helped you out.

I primarily use the runt with water, simply so I can take even bigger hits, but the runt is great dry as well. For small hits, it won't be harsh at all.

I would also recommend a bigger torch with the disc, but you could use the single flame torch as well. It will take longer to develop vapor, and you would have to inhale very slow. But, if you want a smaller hit, that technique might be a good starting point.

You have the Flip Brick also? I ordered that one first but then cancelled the order before it shipped out and then placed a new order for the Runt. I have a few other torch lighters that I use with Dynavap. One is a 3 flame in a triangle and then also........ the vertical 3 flame that came with the old fashioned glass OG Vapcap. Then I ordered a 5 pack of Eagle small torch with a limp single flame and I think that one may be the most suitable but I dont want to fill the free Honest lighter with fuel in case I decide that I want to return the StickyBrick for a refund.

But I have never had to return any vape before so that is a low probability of happening.
