My Solo 1s still work. They help me learn patience in heat up: very Taoist. "Ommmmm...I want to hit it Now." is my Mantra.

My solo ll is awesome but with the great deals on now I am getting a mighty for a backup.

You should always have backup for mission critical gear. Resorting to blazing while you work something out should be avoided at all costs. IMO it should be something dependable, well respected, and different. Low cost is a plus. With Solo say a VG (or a personal favorite if you can find one, VM). Or MFLB? Something that'll be fun to use from time to time?

I've got the aroma tube (had two, but broke one - DOH!) Like it a lot, but more importantly, wife likes it. I also wanna pick up some of the straight two-tone guys. My solo is on charge right now, he had a big day yesterday - Argo is on duty. I try and charge while on my laptop and then pull off at 90%.

I don't find the Solo hot, but I do find all vaping can be *dry*, from conduction to convection to hybrid. I wish I enjoyed, or rather, had patience for, water devices. It's on my list of things to do...
My List of Things to Do
1. master water devices

I have a scope bubbler, and only tried it once. I keep putting it off. I'm sure its got tons of potential. I just love simple and practical, but even the level of work it takes to get this working puts me off. Damn am I lazy? On the other hand, I can work all day, building, designing, but when it comes to vaping, I want to do it all from my arm chair. Thankfully, I've found many ways to keep things smooth and cool without water thanks to the many awesome products and technology out there.

"Hot" is awfully subjective, you should expect almost any answer with little useful information if you've no way to correct for perspectives.

Dry is to be expected. All water is removed by 300F, no matter how you got there (conduction/convection make no difference, 'hybrid' doesn't really exist but if it did it too would have this trait). You can replace the moisture to get to reasonable RH levels with moisture in your mouth, throat and lungs be default. Or use a bubbler or other scheme (like wet pipe cleaners) after the heated vapor/air mix has cooled some.

Many guys sip at juice or water as they vape and find it enough. Some just ignore it (after all smoking (either tobacco or herb) has the same properties).

If you go with the bubbler idea, remember this is only effective on the inside surface of the bubbles. Lots of very small bubbles is more effective than fewer, bigger ones.

Holiday best wishers to all.

Hi everyone,

I saw on the Arizer website the Solo II is now being advertised as completely isolated air and vapor path. Is that true? I know in the PIU disassembly it was shown not to be 100% isolated in the air path. Did something change?

Also, what does the path from herb to mouth look like? Stainless steel to what and then through glass?

I'm sensitive to chemicals and have an autoimmune disease so I am trying to be as careful as possible about what I put into my body. Any help you can give would be super awesome.

Thanks!

If you pack your glass tube 1mm below the top the herb does not touch stainless.
I can’t speak on the air path.

Arizer portables, including (maybe especially) Solo 2 put out some very pure vapor. It tastes great, pure, smooth, cool, but ALL vapor can be dry, unless you use with water. I feel this is the vape that should be readily available at dispensaries, for it's purity and ease of use / maintenance.

How do we combat the dryness of vapor? even with the use of a water tool vapor does seem to take a toll on the body due to this dryness?

Not all WTs are created equal. The only chance, and it's brief, comes from that part of the hot air/vapor that actually touches water. So small bubbles work much better than large. And very short 'bubble distances' work against you as does rapid draws.

Best results I've found come from sipping with wet cotton fabric (think tee shirt material) or better still 'all cotton' pipe cleaners (yes, they have wire), also soaked in the stem. You need to keep them wet, a 'dripper bottle' of water is handy here.

You can also get benefit from sipping water or juice (better) as you vape so your very own mouth and throat can contribute.

But the basic problem is the air/vapor is by definition dry as it comes out of the load. All the moisture that ever was in the load has evaporated off long before the vapor starts.

Edit: The all cotton part is important I think, many pipe cleaners (made for crafts) are made from other materials with unknown dyes. This is my choice, a traditional 'real' pipe cleaner:

Would call it more "hot and harsh" than "dry", what irritates my throat and makes me caught. I'm quite sensitive here too. Never ever could use the original RBT stems for example. Using an as long as possible air path through glass helps me. Water does the job even better of course, but you're loosing too much taste imho.

For my Solo I need the long stem at least, but most I like it on my Orbiter :)

Yeah my issue is I was good for a while using my mighty with a bubbler but I think the constant long draws which the vapor is constantly hitting the back of throat causes irritation after a period of time (mouth pulls don't seem to work with vaping as the vapor isn't very dense and you kind of have to constantly pull to get vapor from just about any vape irregardless if conduction/convection). I've been using warm water in my bubbler and was good for about a month then I developed a throat irritation and some funny sensations in my chin as odd as that is!

I'm thinking of buying the solo but taking a break from vaping as I'm still on the fence about long term consequences of herb vaping and I was pretty much micro dosing but micro dosing on the daily adds up!

I can't take a vape hit without water as that dried the heck out of me. I play music and sing so any kind of irritation or negative side effects that affect my throat are not acceptable. I've went through about 1/2 dozen different vapes so far and I'm not sure where I stand on vaping and my future of vaping.

It's funny how vaping affects every person a bit differently, some people have no issues some people develop issues with it! I was ready to pull there trigger on the solo 2 (Black Friday) then this throat irritation hit me! pissed me off! lol

Okay, I've done the cotton pipe cleaner trick and while it worked, not a remarkable difference - until I made sure it was wet enough. I used a long straight glass stock stem. I cut a pipe cleaner to length. I saturated it, and my only concern was water dripping into the load. I had to add more water (via a small tincture eye drop jar) at first I'm still not sure how often to add / re-moisten. or just how wet it should / can be. I also left about a half inch dry (at load end). Not really cooler, but it never felt hot. I think I can do better though. I can feel the water, a hair less taste (that's okay if I get the benefits). Inside my stem is damp. Maybe a drop higher temps for the same result? If you have the specs down @OF, I'd love to hear how you approach this. I also ordered some of your cotton pipe cleaners.

No fixed technique, that would indicate I had a plan? First off, I generally don't bother unless my throat is 'acting up'. Then I'm not shy......

I've never cut one, never occurred to me I guess. Rather I fold them and insert them with a loop end up so I can hook them with a wire and haul them out easily. When dry I typically pull it most of the way out and put it under the faucet then shake or blot (on paper towels) before pushing it back. By leaving the bottom end in the stem I too avoid water at the bottom where it might get into the load.

If I don't have a sink handy (none in the garden.....yet) I fall back to the dripper bottles used by the e-cig guys "Gorilla" being my favorite brand. At first I used a conventional glass medicine bottle with an eye dropper built into the cap. Not a good call outside, as I quickly learned.

Early on I used a spiral wrapped cleaner (around a bamboo skewer) that hugged the inside walls and worked well. But the 'quick drink' technique didn't work since the soggy pipe cleaner didn't want to thread in again.

I can 'taste' when the water runs low but if I check carefully I can usually spot water condensing on the inside wall of the stem. The 'tide line' rises and I add more in before it gets too close to the top.

FWIW, cotton worked well but was very hard to keep in place and not blocking the passage, hence the pipe cleaner idea. Lots of surface area to hold lots of water (relatively) and with a wire frame to keep it in place.

The idea really hearkens back to to a minor accessory TV used to sell for some of their products. "Pure Flow", it was a fancy Nickle plated tube with a doughnut of porous ceramic (a specialty of theirs) you could detach, run under the faucet, and shake off before putting it back on. Id didn't hold much water, but did a worthwhile job until it ran dry. Pipe cleaners hold more, are cheaper, and work better when called on IMO.

Regards to all. Rain coming here, welcome rain. Must mean 'fire season' is over?

So true. And also the fact that it handles great also with uncured material.
