Ed's WoodScents Log Vape - Ed's TnT

Hello fello FC'rs ! I'm looking for some advice. I grabbed a wood scents log for a friend of mine who was trying to Fuck combustion about a yr ago. He never really got into it and I chalked it up to the fact that he didn't really want to learn how to use a vape. It's now back in my hands and I seem to be having the same issues he was.

It just doesn't get hot enough. I have it set on 10 , it's been plugged in for about 45mins now and from 15-20second draws I'm getting wispy vapour. Extremely unsatisfying to say the least. The log itself is warm to the touch on the outside and if I blow into it I get a pile of hot air coming back at me. After 3-4 long draws it gets going. Extraction seems like my temp is in the 350-375F range.

I've bypassed the LED dimmer and wired it straight to see if the dimmer was the issue but no change in max temp.

Anyone experience anything like this?

For my purposes, to squeeze the last little bit out of these fucking expensive and hard to obtain stuff () the original power adapter gave me to less power. But if it's fully turnd on, your material is dry and not complete rubish, there should be some vape for sure.
Otherwise either your power adapter or the WoodScent seems to be broken :(

Good morning everyone, hope all is well out there. Been slammed over the last few weeks setting up the 3rd annual MAW Fundraiser/Raffle coordinating it and launching it where you can get info at my blog at edstnt.com if you want to participate is a great cause.

Have also been gearing up working in more WS and a new offering I am close to releasing. I feel you all will really like what I have done and look forward to announcing it.

Want to also say I have gotten in a load of the new upgraded heater cores and am ready for retrofits in older units. I have settled on a $75 flat fee for this process. This will include tear down tear out and reinstall with cleaning and service/repair/replacement of any minor issues if needed. A return shipping fee will also need to be paid being $10 US or $20 international. Turn around time will be 1-2 weeks.

@Verax Bro I gotta say that is a beautiful set you have and am interested in hearing how you are enjoying it after its arrival that and how you are enjoying that BE debowler. Great shot of it and am feeling @Alexis post of if you have have opened better packages I wanna hear about those too for real.

@Alexis Yeah thats what I am thinking bro.

@Ramahs I know right. Yes sir I will.

@TheThriftDrifter Thanks much bro.

@Easywider Yes sir I look to get that thing in and go over it for you. If you havent sent it maybe give what @flammy mentioned trying a different outlet in your home. I have had a user or two experience this issue and found that they were getting better results from a different outlet in another area of their home. May sound crazy but was the case and cant hurt to try if you like. As @letter never sent mentioned also how is your load pack? I give my material a good finger grind into one hand and with the tip in the wood stem or tip in the glass stem I use it as a straw and suck the load into the tip giving it a light tamp. I place it over the heat port and raw long slow ans steady. Some of my draws may last 30 seconds or more.

@letter never sent Thanks for stepping in with advice bro, appreciate it.

@Alex3oe Am going ot get to the bottom of this for our guy for sure. Hope all is well for you.

@flammy You are right it sure cant hurt, thanks for posting up.

Hope everyone is doing well and will be back alot sooner with some great info and new stuff coming. Wish all the best.

Thanks Guys! Really do appreciate all the support and suggestions.

Hoping to get this guy off to the post today. @Ed's TnT I will send tracking your way when it's off.

I've tried multiple outlets, even multiple homes. I'm grinding with a BCG medium plate, straw style, light tamp, just enough to keep the herb in place. My best results where with longer 30 second draws through a water piece. But at level 10 with a really long heat soak. It still takes 6-8 draws like this to get my ABV to a light brown. Results I would expect from around 375F. Im not producing vapour on the lower settings. :myday:

Had a slightly different experience with the woodscents this morning.

I was running it on a VVPS with the wood wpa, condenser and ti tip+screen. I was using my usual settings if 13.1v with a verrrry slow draw. Slow enough that bubbles only come from the top perc hole. Got a nice dark brown roast on my avb. I was taking what I thought was my last draw so I finished it by trying to clear the piece without removing the wpa or woodscents, since it wasn't producing any more vapor anyways.

I was surprised when I had a good amount of vapor come out at the top of my exhale, followed by what was the very whispy vapor produced by the first part of my inhale.

Lightbulb moment. I went back for another draw, and decided to HAUL on it. Niiiice big cloud, noticeable effects. And then I got one more.

Pressure. Negative pressure improves extraction. This is well explored in dabbing but in dry herb vaping I thought that pulling faster would only decrease temps and that this would negate the benefits of a low-pressure hit. Seems I was wrong!

The avb came out looking much more deeply cooked, like I vaped it in my dynavap, without the various shades of brown convection usually produces.

Going to experiment with this more. It might be important to start slow so the herb reaches temps before trying to suck the extracts right out of the herb. But I thought i would share this with the thread! Maybe the tight draw on the woodscents isn't a disadvantage after all.

That said, @Ed's TnT, have you been able to try the DDave mesh screens yet? Have any thoughts on their performance? I had plan on picking some up at some point - I still will most likely - but being in Canada I am not in a big hurry to make another international purchase.

Also, thanks for giving a price for the heater refit. It seems reasonable, but personally I don't think I can justify the costs when my VVPS is doing the job. It's a shame, because I thought I might use the chance to send down the wpa that was included in my woodscents, as the 14mm fit isn't quite right. Again, being international, sending it in on its own feels like more trouble than it's worth.

I like @DDave screens for stem use but they are still a bit more restrictive than a cut-down S&B coarse screen of my fav the 100 for a dollar cheap wide mesh 20mm, punched out with a hole punch, bong use only with medium grind sprinkle filled bowls for 1 or 2 great hits. I like to pull on mine pretty well for15 to 20+ seconds at 11.6v with my Huon Pine sometimes I will finish with my walnut set at 12.3v, always huge clouds

Oooo just a standard good punch is needed? Do the screens fit snugly?

I feel like this thread needs more action shots. Woodscents session currently in progress. It's time to say it - this is my favorite vape of all time.

Good morning everyone,

@Easywider Thats cool will look for the tracking and will go through it and go from there. Appreciate all your troubleshooting info updates. Hope all is well otherwise and wish you a great day.

@JEMSKU Ahh great findings and post, really like what I am hearing. As for the DD screens I have not yet, tbh I have had my hands full working up inventory and new offerings soon to be released that and fam time and such I more than have my hands full. Gosh I was speaking to someone on the phone yesterday in the shop was supposed to write something down as I told them I would but got sidetracked after we hung up and totally forgot had to text em back asking wth I was supposed to write down lol. I need an assistant or inturn heck I need a couple more of me tbh lol. Am here for ya anytime if you wanna do a heater retrofit or wanna send back the wong whatever whenever. Maybe when you see these new offerings they might justify the desire then.

@LesPlenty Want to say you were the first to do this screen mod werent you? I know you have been at it for a while using it this way and have had great success. Thanks for posting up all your advise and helping out @JEMSKU

@letter never sent Bro I feel you and appreciate you posting up and love what I am hearing from ya. Rock it brother, take care.

@Ramahs Aint it.

Yeah this doesn't spind right at all. Ive used a few heavy hitters. Currently using the WS as DD mostly. Even on 8.5, any size load and not too tight a pack, and it is dense clouds from inhalation one effortlessly and a very fast extraction with any higher temperature than that.

Like thick milk instantly.
So try Ed's suggestion of different power outlet. If that doesn't change it there must be a problem with the heater.

Yes. Your description has my mouth watering. This is exactly what I’m looking forward to. My WS is now on route for a check up.

Which vvps? Is it smaller or easier to manager then the one through ed's or other sites?

So embarrassed that I posted this, my phone's keyboard doesn't work well on this forum :uhoh: Too scared is what I meant!

Anyways, regarding my previous post about hard draws, I am finding that this may not make the difference I thought and that my improved vapor production may have come from simply taking back-to-back hits towards the end of my bowl and building up the temp a bit more. Normally I wait at least a minute between hits, but stacking them has let me stretch my herb more that I thought I ever could with the woodscents.

Always experimenting!

For those of you with a VVPS, do you ever get freaked out that you’re just a little turn of the dial away from going up over 14v and potentially destroying the heater? Am I just being paranoid? How sensitive is the dial?
