Daaaang, looks super terpy! :mmmm:

 this one came out much better than the fresh frozen dry ice attempt a few weeks back! Still want to just try cold sifting some frozen trim and see how that comes out.

Looks great @invertedisdead ! Love the lemon yellow color as well  Making me wanna break out the water hash bags again :D:leaf::science:

Cheers my friend!

I attempted some fresh frozen white widow water hash recently too but had some issues, didn't pull much at all, but the bubble has a really nice nose to it! :p Wasn't enough to press though, definitely want to give it another go, seems like something that just takes practice and experience to really get it down.

Any ideas on how to "clean up" super dirty hash to this purity?

With the dry sift i make and sift my self (100% control) i can achieve the same results as pictured-

However, with the imported "hash" in europe ( which is mostly maroc ) I never am able to achieve this purity?

Ive tried with 90mircon, 37 micron and 25 micron filters in different combinations and with double filter and also alot of different temps.
most of it seems to yield the same dark oil that dosnt melt properly in a quartz bangers, very weird- It does produces decent amount of vapor and get you a good stone , oil bubbles but not for long and then leaves a good amount of useless reclaim in the banger that wont produce anymore vapor-

Im beginning to wonder if the hash around here may be tainted with something that would help make it feel more sticky, but its hard to really draw any conclusions...

That reminds me of some of the best "tartelettes aux citrons" fillings I ever ate. That looks so tasty.
The strain name matches pretty much.:D

@invertedisdead looks great your bubble rosin...

I am also planning to press bubble... last time I had problems with blowout... my bubble is not like dust it is more like instant coffee... I also used two bags one first 160 micron then wrapped this in 37 micron... will also try with 150 F but have problems to figure out how much pressure I need so I do not have a blowout again... I am happy for any tips...

@SickVape Thanks for posting the promo! It's should help a lot of rosineers save money during the holidays!

---------------

When double bagging and pressing hash you want the 25-37u filter placed inside a larger filter like 120-160 microns. Press it slow and be gentle when applying pressure.

Is double packing recommended? did read and saw videos where they are recommending... @LesPlenty if you apply slowly pressure you do not need it and how much pressure should I apply have the 10 ton press it would be nice if dabpress could provide a calculator for pressure... or how is the formula?

I do not want to waste my material because of blowouts again...

First timer dry sifting. I got 11g of the most excellent sift from 60g of flower, it must be good as it sticks to itself at -10c in my garage!!

Question is what's the best method to press?

I have 90u and 37u bags and the 3 ton press so no gauge.

It sounds like you're starting with the right material!

I'd just pack up your smallest filter bag and give it the low n' slow treatment.
Remember when pressing hash, most of the work is already done, you're just melting the oil through the filter bag.

IMO the best tip to prevent blowouts is to pay attention to how little pressure it actually takes for rosin to start flowing, once you get to that point where the bag wets out you wont need a whole lot more pressure for the duration of the press.
Once you make that connection it's easy to just be nice and gentle with the whole squish process.

@btka for the 10-ton unit you have to figure out your puck size surface area, then determine the PSI you want on the material itself. Then all you gotta do is take the total pressure needed / 2.25 = pressure required on gauge.

Ex. 2x2" puck is 4 sq/in, if we are pressing hash and want 500 PSI as the maximum pressure on the material, you need about 2000 lbs in total (1 ton). So 2000/2.25 = 888 PSI reading on gauge

Smaller pucks than that I dont think I would bother trying to get the pressure right just go by feel and follow @invertedisdead recommendation, you cant go wrong that way.

thank you...

but how do I know how much psi I want on the material ... or is 500 psi on material recommended for (bubble) hash? and BTW then how much psi on material is recommended for flower...

There's an effective range, so being precise is not as crucial.

I recommend 1000 PSI at the material for flower, and 500 PSI at the material for hash. The higher the quality, the less pressure you need for hash. With hash it really ends up being the pressure reading you get at the very end of the extraction as it's not going to build up much pressure while the oil is flowing and losing pressure.

When working with hash, the amount of pressure I apply doesn't even register on the gauge until about the last 10-20 seconds of the press (and then I max out at ~500 psi). I allow the plates to barely make contact with the bag in the beginning and let it come to temp without additional pressure for around 20 seconds. Then, very slowly apply pressure throughout the remainder.

It helped me to try to mentally visualize the hash melting into a thick oil, then working its way into all the air pockets and corners of the bag before pressure is applied. All of that takes a decent amount of time when working with low temps. Someone told me a while back that pressing hash is more about the heat than pressure... but even then it took me a few blowouts to get it right.

It's another of those things that you can only really learn by doing and getting the feel for it. :2c:

So I have finally finished the Jul 2018 crop and pressed 10g in a 40mm puck of some Oct 2018 gear, this was a pretty poor crop (only 13 liter mason jars worth).
All the buds were pretty small compared to normal, this was the first of my stuff stored with all my tricks, mason jar, jar sealer, boveda and O2 scrubber packs,
Pressed at 2500psi last 45 sec for a total of 4.5 mins at 107C, (I usually finish at 2750psi) this stuff seems really runny, like oil at room temp, I had to refrigerate to collect the last of it off the parchment paper.

Only 1.58grams return but it was from crap buds but I am still well pleased.
