The Nomad From Morwood

Big news!

I'm dropping the new Nomad II in 2020.

Order emails have gone out to those who are next in line on the wait list. I only sent out about 25 emails, as always, the Nomads are crafted in small batches.

I see this as a continuation in the Nomad saga, not a replacement of the Nomad I, but a compliment. The Nomad II heaters are backwards compatible with the Nomad I, so any future design improvements can be used by Nomad I owners.

The Nomad I, like the Okin, will be a limited run vaporizer. I'm going to cease production after this batch goes out. While I'd love to keep making the Nomad I, I can only focus on one at a time.

The Nomad II is all about the wood, and I'll have plenty of custom species to pick from for a huge array of looks.

Here's some photos!

The bottom plate is now magnetic. Large rare earth magnets are squeezed into the design for a very hardy click and super secure hold. The magnets and matching steel pins are mechanically held into their holes, no adhesives here.

The inset bottom perfectly fits the bottom plate so there's no play between the parts.

The connector between the heater module pin and the battery terminal is inset into the wooden bottom plate, and automatically adjusts to varying battery heights. It's spring loaded.

To lock the device, all that's needed is to take the bottom plate off, turn it 180 degrees, and click it back into place. Super quick and easy.

Side pulls for easy bottom plate removal. Even with thick Canadian mitts on!

The battery is fully enclosed in wood, no way for the shell to ever touch metal.

So there you have it.

I've got a soft case design that will also be available. The soft case will be small pocket friendly for added protection on the go.

And, as always, I'll be continuing development of new/better heater modules to go along with the Nomad lineup. I've got some things in the pipe.

Congrats @Dan Morrison!

Much of the attention is placed on the stunning aesthetics (and for good reason) but for those who may not have had a chance to try a Nomad, they are truly a pleasure to use. I genuinely feel lucky to have one and I use mine daily. It's a fantastic mirco-doser (but can also handle larger loads) that can pack a punch while still preserving flavor.

It is unregulated so it does take a little technique but once dialed in, its an absolute joy for those who enjoy that experience. I also think the Nomad is worthy of try for those who may have been turned off by prior unregulated experiences simply due to the low heater. The high heater reminds me of the Milaana while the low heater isn't anything that I've experienced in another vape. Very versatile with the heater options and IMO the low heater specifically provides a lot of flexibility in how you use the Nomad.

Truly beautiful pieces of functional art. I can't wait to see what comes out of the first batch of the Nomad II!

For some reason the low heater reminds me more the Zion, and yes indeed the high heater reminds me the Milaana, albeit a hot-tuned one on top of that!

The low heater is forgiving and preserves the taste so long. It's a slower extraction (although don't equate that to wispy hits, it's not the case, they feel really satisfying and fulfilling) but you don't have to feather the button, so it's just a draw/breath technique, whereas with the high power heater you have to juggle both the button and the correct draw.

Thats good to hear. I think I made the right choice in the low heater.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Not sure if i should be mad I didnt make it to get a original. But holy moly the mockups for the 2 are breathtaking. Will the balance people on the original list get transfered to the 2 list. Excited and excited for you. Hoping w this making production more mainstreamed you'll be able to get these pieces of art in more peoples hands. As I said i may not have been fortunate enough to get an original in my hands but ive had the pleasure of living vicariously through other members and some of the gorgeous pictures. Only sad not is now I gotta pic a whole new scheme for when I do get one. I did love that craft paper

Just a dude
As much as I would have loved owning a Nomad I, it’s completely cool with me simply because the Nomad II is a huge evolutionary leap forward. As beautiful and unique the sleeves are, if the new design allows Dan to create a batch faster then we’ve got more happy owners here and the artist is being rewarded more fairly. Just looking at everybody’s sleeves, I always marvelled at how much time must’ve gone into each one.

Each sleeve is an additional piece of art on top of the over-the-top detailed work of the vape itself, so it’s easy for me to understand why Dan is excited about focusing on making the vapes and leaving the paper crafting behind. Not sure about y’all but I’ve gone back and looked at the Nomad II images probably a dozen times since Dan posted them! I’m more excited about owning this vape than I was before and I didn’t think that was possible.

Just did an early morning walkabout / photo shoot with my doggo and the Nomad this AM. Now that it's colder out (36F), I am finding the high heater perfect. I don't have the low heater yet, but I think for my usage indoor/summer I'll use the low, and climbing / colder outdoor use the high one. Love the modularity to easily switch the entire heating element out so quickly.

Cheers ya'll!

Also performance, is there any difference in performance from 1 to 2?

Or only ascetic and ergonomic differences?

Also Also, you should make it so the sleeve can work for the Nomad 1 too.

Also Also Also, and on a different note entirely does anyone know if you can soak the heater modules in ISO to clean them?

Damn I like the new shape man more round and kinda skinny. Also the Bronze back plate looks sick.

Not sure how to feel about my incoming nomad 1.

Cheers, best thread on this website.

Manufacturer
@lookhigh , Ooph, so much focus on the thing itself I forgot that part. Price increase of $75. Base model still has plenty of wood choice combinations at no extra charge. Some exotics and burls are extra, depending on species. I price the wood options based on the cost of the raw materials, and the extra time needed to process more difficult woods.

The price increase comes from my experience with the Nomad, which I've now learned should have been priced higher..oh well, live and learn!

@namasteIII , Same performance, all heater module advancements will be backwards compatible with the og Nomad. I've got improvements coming sometime in 2020.

You can soak the heater modules no problem. ISO or acetone.

I know this has been discussed before, but the search feature won’t pull up 3 character terms like iso, so just to refresh our memories do you think the few heaters with wood insulators need any different treatment?

Anyone who has one probably knows because PEEK is the default and cheaper option, and there’s no noticeable difference between them so no need to worry which you have except *maybe* for cleaning?

...and yeah, getting just a glimpse of how much time and effort you put into these, the price has been amazingly low. I hope the Nomad II’s price vs work balance will be at least evened out a bit for you, and I hope there will be less work overall on a lot of Nomad IIs so more of them will get into more people’s hands! :D
