I received my firewood a couple of weeks ago. Gave the og settings a go straight out of the box but wasn't succesful. Tried a few more times in the following days with no luck. Today was my first chance to revisit the situation. I carefully went through the temp settings and put 2 and 3 at max and 4 at the 420-430 setting. First two tries, nothing. Then I decided ok one last time before I send you in. Four clicks for setting four. Click and hold, but for a decent while this time. Lo and behold, my first hit! Didn't have to pull noteably slow or too long. Tried a second time and got a second hit. I may have simply been starting my draw too soon, making it hard for the heater to get to temp by the end of my draw. If I can keep it rolling I'm going to enjoy fw6. Wanna get through this first bowl successfully then try setting 3 and see what happens there.

I've been getting the best terp hits I've ever had when drawing on fw6 just before visible vapor appears. I mean, it is an OUTSTANDING flavor.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I feel like this is the perfect vape for flavor chasers, as long as you have time to chill with it. It is slower to heat and extract than my other current portables, so I've had to readjust expectations. I have vapes that serve their purpose of being fast. This thing is for sipping. It is totally worth the small wait to prime the heater. I just love the clean flavor this thing delivers. A+

I will agree it's not super fast, and super powerful like some other convection vapes, but I could definitely kill a full bowl in like 3~ hits - would probably be like 2~3 minutes including loading/debowling, if I was going for "as quickly as possible"

I haven't weighed exactly, but I feel the bowl is around 0.3g~ - I have a milligram scale and will weigh a full load later tonight.

My main worry before I purchased (besides getting possible defective unit) was that it would not be "hard hitting" enough to justify. I am definitely satisfied. I can get a nicer/darker roast with much more ease than I could on the FW4.

I also agree with the flavor being top-notch... Kinda feel bad all the flack this vape is receiving... It's not even like he shipped a ton of bad units lol... people are just creating some hysteria when they haven't even tried it. :haw:

I can’t imagine fitting .3g in the bowl. I packed .1g lightly tamped and it was already pretty full.

I’ve tried .05g and it still worked pretty well. Clouds weren’t quite as thick. Still needs way more testing.

@firewood I think you were right about the clicks...I probably wasn’t waiting long enough between actions. Has worked perfectly since I started giving it a few seconds.

@firewood could you explain how the FW6 either extends the heat cycle or terminates it?

I'm assuming it's the draw senser that keeps the heater going past, what? 5 seconds?

At times, especially with a dirty screen, but not always , my FW6 shuts the heater down in mid draw.

Is that something I can improve on in my technique, assuming a clean screen, and no air leaks?

Pack the load looser? Draw harder? Senser problem?

And so to continue this, today I couldn't get the heater to work at all. I tried at least 3 times without success.

Cleaned everything, tried different loads, and packs. Made sure the glass was in the bowl, batteries charged. Everything I could think of.

Then I tried blowing in the heater, thinking it might help if the draw senser was stuck or something. It wasn't hot since it wasn't working.

Anyway it worked, and my vape works again. Not sure what I did or if it was coincidence, but it works now, lol.

You're right - I could only fit 202mg (0.2g) with a decent tamp (what I would... and in fact AM using) and medium grind plate BCG.

Still a good bit though! Definitely more than a Vapcap, and the high and flavor it delivers are certainly worthy enough of a spot in my lineup :science:

My experience supports this. I was not enamored with the FW6 but have found that delaying is a benefit. The previous FW's seemed less dependent on a delay but it isn't a long delay and the results are worth it.

I keep buying the FW series because nothing else compares in terms of flavor. My neighbor across the street is a grower (but not a generous grower...I don't know the quality of his goods). He only smokes his stuff. I had him try his weed in the FW (can't remember which one) and he was blown away by the flavor of his own product (not sure if I would be blown away because he killed it and then left.). It's sad to me how many people are cannabis fans but have no idea there are dimensions beyond just smoking their stuff. My son had no idea what weed tasted like until I let him try it in the FW. He is using my SS GH but you only get one hit of intense flavor (probably more intense than the FW series) and then it is gone. In my opinion, if you want flavor, the FW is the way to go.

I am now at the point where I can get the ABV on the FW6 as dark as I can the FW5. This is NOT nearly as dark as I can get the capsules on the FW3 and FW4.

Got my device 2 days ago! I'm so impressed! Had low expectations after reading some reviews here.. Compared to the fw5 there are no green edges left, so imo no stirring needed at all! The flavor is even better than the fw5 had. A really really small downside ist that the glass tube gets a little bit hotter on the fw6 but no problem because it works very good with shorter draws when it's a bit warm! It has s much smaller ceramic part than the fw5 so it's logic that cooling is a bit weaker but better than expected.

For the price it's unbelievable!

Sent my unit back in. The last time i tried using it, it wouldnt produce any cloud beyond a whisp. Mark paid for return shipping, so he's living up to his warranty and I have no qualms.

Will report when I get it back. Confident all will be sorted.

Sounds like a big difference between FW5 and FW6 is more even vaping without stirring. The airflow from the heater has been changed with a new bowl, which is angled and has intake holes in different places.

To give you some hope if needed, Marc sent me one back this week and it’s working much better, and much more consistently . I think the firmware updates have helped a lot. I remain really happy with Firewood’s CS. As a handmade device, :shit: can happen, but Marc has always gotten it straight for me. Hoping you have the same experience!

My new unit is in and it works as expected. I can load about half full and get full extraction in one long hit at max temp. The previous unit wouldn't even get that yellow.
Waiting for mine too ( Marc @firewood contact me before you send it or check your mails). @paytonpenn didn't you report you could get a half load black a few weeks back ? What happened , did it go off ?

Had my 6 for just under 2 weeks now and after some back and forth with the man himself it seems I may have the draw sensor issue. Not phased by this at all as this is all just part of the process of a new handmade release. I love the 6 despite this and definitely think this is going to be my new dog walking DD. Has anyone had experience with posting something like this back to the US from the UK? I know there is a lot of crazy misinformation and hysteria around vaping at the moment so I’m unsure what to put on the customs declaration, as I don’t want to write the wrong thing and have issues. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

I am glad everyones units are being sorted out. Marc does seem like a great guy at CS.

My new years resolution for 2020, no more pre-orders - no more jumping on the band wagon first. Someone else can take my place at that rodeo.

I said that after the mv1... it's a hard promise to keep with yourself... but that's okay... step 1 is recognizing the mistake... step 2 of not making it again is just impossible:lol:

Feel free to remind me of this conversation, next time you see me lurking.

I'm ready for my first cleaning and I'm kinda intimidated by it for some reason.

Anyone taken theirs apart yet to clean the screen, bowl and glass? Is the disassembly and assembly easy? Any tips that may be helpful?

I'll report back tonight when I actually do it. I bet it's easier than im making it out to be in my head.

I've been using this vape exclusively the past couple of weeks and I've fallen in love with it. I'm so glad I ordered one.

Just be sure to pull the glass tube all the way out first. And then with the device open, use the stir/scoop tool in the little notch on the side to push the bowl out. I was a little apprehensive pushing on the bowl at first but it ended up coming out with a reasonable amount of force. Be careful not to push it out and onto the floor though! Cleaning from here was easy. Just be careful not to lose the little o-ring from the bowl. After cleaning, be sure to put the bowl back in, and make sure it’s all the way in before trying to slide the tube back in. Hope this helps.

Thank you. This was reassuring to read. I assumed it was easier than I was making it out.

Hopefully I'll remember to take some pics. I've really wanted to make videos but I've been hesitant. Maybe I'll try that instead

So I first received a functioning Firewood which ended up getting a sticky button. I sent it in and the return unit had an issue where it wasn't getting up to temp or something not sure. Sent that in and now we are looking good.

Just got my FW6 (Batch from the 9/30 two week email) and took it for a spin using a Samsung 30Q (use setting: 3/4 pack tamped, walking outside). First off I want to put it out there right away I believe this vape is a good vape and I would buy it again without hesitation. That being said, I started at setting 3 and got the typical no vape all flavor hit from convection vapes. After 2 pulls I bumped up to 4 right away, herb at this point was super green and I would recommend raising your 3 setting at least 1 click and maybe 2 clicks because IMO default 3 is not hot enough. At setting 4, I was now getting great vapor extremely smooth and tasty, decently T H I C C but nothing too crazy. After a few pulls (didn't count exact amount maybe 5?) I checked the AVB because the vapor was thinning a bit and it was starting to yellow/brown on the top and pretty green on bottom. At this point I bumped up to 4 and 1 click and stirred then took 2 more pulls, bumped it up to 4 and 2 clicks and got pretty full extraction after a decent amount of pulls to get to even darkISH brown with some yellowish brown still.

By this point you might notice this seems like a very unrealistic amount of hits, the reason for that is because I noticed the draw speed for the FW6 needs to be slightly slower than the FW5 and while you're walking it is pretty hard to keep up with draw speed and get a big hit, i'm sure that if you're sitting down or in a non active environment you'll get fewer but lager clouds. At this point I locked the vape, stuck it in my windbreakers pocket, and went into an establishment known for its pink and orange color scheme and both the first letters of the name is a D. I got a coffee and sandwich and in the time it took to leave the establishment, MY BUTTON GOT STUCK :bang:. Immediate depression set in but I would not accept that my brand new vape would break in 1 SESSION before I even got to fully finish (still felt there was 2-3 pull life in the AVB). So I put my little stoner brain into action to problem shoot why in the world my button would get stuck THE FIRST TIME I use the device and here is what I came up with.

I want to preface this with I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS THE ACTUAL CAUSE OF THE STUCK BUTTON but, there is a small gap on all 4 corners of the heater and I believe that avb from the bowl can jump up in there and get stuck in whatever is acting as the clicker. The reason I think this is because I fixed my stuck button :brow: The way I did this was I just blew into all 4 corners as hard as I could a few times to the point that my cheeks hurt. Then I got a small amount of click on the side closest to the battery and kinda just "worked" the clicker until it got progressively less stuck by pressing it in different places that would actually give some give. I think that eventually I just pulverized whatever was causing the stick (the theoretical AVB). Now the click works perfectly fine again. To avoid this problem I recommend you do not put this vape down after you start a bowl unless you know you wont jostle it at all and AS SOON AS YOU'RE DONE WITH THE BOWL, EMPTY IT!

TL;DR Good Vape that can perform what I would consider full extraction (But not at default settings), Move your setting 3 to 3 and 2 clicks, Move your setting 4 to AT LEAST 4 and 1 click. Requires a slightly slower draw that the FW5 IMO. Seems like it would be better with the HG2 instead of the 30Q. Prime your hit for 2-3 seconds before you pull (I.E. Click, buzz, 2-3 seconds, then pull) it doesn't seem like it would make a big difference but that slight pause really helps. Overall I would not get this a first vape because its seem nuanced but if you're an enthusiast this is a great one!

You should definitely email me at service@firewoodvapes.com if your fw6 button is getting stuck.

I tried removing the bowl once, but it was more difficult than I anticipated. I stopped trying because it wasn't budging even after applying a decent amount of pressure. I used the lid/tool as suggested in the instructions, but it felt like I was going to break it if I pushed any harder. Has anyone else had difficulty removing the bowl? Any tips?
