Dabpress Rosin Plates

What is the benefit of having 2 separate plate temp controls? Do you lesson the top plate temp to even out heat better?
I guess the top plate might get hotter then the bottom so a separate controller would cut off power to only the top plate till it’s equal to the bottom plate. My 3x3 only has one controller for the top plate and I think I’m fine as it works great for me.

My unit arrived.

Smaller and heavier than expected. I had to collect it from a couple of streets away, went by foot - bad idea! My arms where killing afterwards.

Very well built, packaging was good. Not tried it yet.

Do the cables not disconnect from the PID box? I unscrewed the silver connectors but they seem hard wired in, so i screwed them back up. Would be a lot easier to store if the cables could be disconnected. Not a biggy but i dont like this.

Hey Guys,

Let's talk about dabpress filter bags for a moment, namely is there a particular size that you've either settled on or maybe just find yourself reaching for consistently? I certainly want to get everything that I need but I don't want to buy things I won't use. Right now, my list has 160, 90 & 37 on it. It did have the 120s instead of 90s but psycho suggested the 90s since there won't be much difference between 160 & 120 microns, he's right but I hadn't thought of it like that. He told me that he's a 160 man but said it might be fun to experiment with the 90s, and that's what got me to thinking on my current path. I definitely will want 37s to play with :brow: but if there's a general consensus on a size that pretty much everyone here likes for flower, I would really like to know. I could get 2 of those rather than a size I never really use. So my friends, what size filter bags do you use?

In the past, I'd often get all the accessories for a vape but these days I'm trying to turn over a new leaf! I also plan to go naked using no bags as well, particularly with smaller quantities as Im learning of course.

Here's another one: should a beginning rosineer go ahead and get the PID sauce plate to decarb and try jartek eventually? Or will developing my pressing skills be enough to deal with?
What are the real world benefit to jartek anyway? Is it worth the extra time/effort?

@gunmetalshark uses a lab hotplate with magnetic stirrer for thinning in his rosin cartridge experiments and they're much cheaper but after asking what my goal was, Gunny pointed out I could just use the bottom plate to decarb, the main reason for a hot/sauce plate is the longer, slower heat needed for these other post-processing techniques. Again, I'm happy to buy it now but not if it's going to be a dust collector for several months. Beyond squishing medicine, the big thing I'm excited about is decarbing some and following the caramel recipe from dear @Hackerman . Besides the chronic diseases I've had since age 20, I developed Crohn's later in life, it messed with my ability to absorb the goodies in edibles.

Once I was able to try some commercial edibles from CO, ate a lot and got nothing perceptible but I honestly think I might have better luck with caramels, especially if I dose them Hackerman style! :freak: :rockon::rockon:

That's it I think, think I'm good with everything else on my shopping list. Thank YOU for taking the time to read this and give me your thoughts and experience with this shit!

I am glad it made it there, and yes it is a beefy unit, definitely requires a little muscle to move it! Please give it a try when you are able, I am eager to hear your results.

The cables are indeed hardwired. We had experimented when we first started, using plug and play cables and we had rosineers dropping their box and breaking it, so the solution was a stainless grommet to house the cabling so it wont get pinched or broken. The downside is it takes about 15 minutes to replace a heater coil the way it's wired, versus seconds. Since we made that change we have no longer had issues but the inconvenience remains.

One note, the heater rod has a lengthy working life so you shouldn't have to replace it for a long time.

Ah ^ this brings up something else I forgot to ask. What components make a 220v unit different to a 110v unit?

I've always thought it would just require switching out the heater rods since PIDs are usually (always?) 110v-220v. Like I can take my Auber anywhere with the appropriate coil. Doesn't Dabpress use the same power supply for everything and the power cord of the customer's country? I honestly don't mind the extra time/effort required to switch out the heater rods as it would be a once in a lifetime deal; I like that hardwired means solid performance and prefer it over the ease of plug&play.

Hey @oddjobold Congratulations! What unit did you decide to go with? Good luck on your maiden voyage!

My 0.02 - I got 160's with my press and added 37's to the order. I have yet to try the 37's. I also picked up some 160 sleeves (long bag with no bottom) and have been using those recently. I have only pressed flower to this point so the 37's will be chillin until I get my bubble game on. Initially I was fully wrapping pucks - getting two presses out of a bag after cutting off the bottom seam and then cutting the bag in half - but the last few months I've just been using just a sleeve around the puck (open top and bottom). I've only broken one sleeve so far and that was because I pushed the pressure a bit too far (I normally stay under 950psi at the puck). This tech allows 4 presses from a bag or a metric shit ton of presses from a single sleeve. In retrospect - getting 90's in place of the 37's would have probably been better for me personally. I've leveraged a few heat sources to warm up and whip rosin a couple times (coffee maker, lower plate in the press (not a very wide opening btw) but I'm dabbin on ruby not making carts so I don't find much need for jar tech at this point.

@gunmetalshark what kind of parchment paper are you using? Looks heavy duty :)
Wonderful squish, looks delicious.
What temperature and pressure? :D

I only squished flower up to now, with small (2x4?) 160u and 120u bags, mostly bottle tech. I did not really see a difference.

edit:
@oddjobold anything from 180°F up to 220°F/105°C should work to start. Hotter means more yield and a little lower quality, generally. Lower temperature give better qualities, but less yield. You can go below 180°F, but I think this is for the advanced rosineer artist. I have a hard time to press at lower temps, because I always fear too little yield. :D And I don't get to do repeated presses of similar material, lately.

What filter bags are you using over there @gunmetalshark ? The rosin in your videos always looks so good!

I am using those from amazon, 120 micron..pretty happy with them....but as always starting material is the key :)

@Sick Vape
I am using the pre-cut oil slick sheets, best from all those I've tried so far :)
220° and 5k psi for 2x 40mm round pucks, 10g each, packed in bags bottle tee style.

@pxl_jockey the heater rods are lower wattage on the 220v units, and the PIDS are configured standard as Celsius. Other than that they use the same PIDS and relays.

I use our 160s mostly as they're the most affordable in 40 packs. The 90s I've always liked for no debris guarantee. I'm not sure if there is a wrong choice but the 160s are strong and do the job.

Great yields @gunmetalshark ! Nice to see your press back in action :science:

We are in the process of restocking the global warehouses, 2 shipments were sent, waiting on the accessories to reach Belgium and they will be available.

Right now we are running 2 promos, Bundle for Savings which pairs our press kits with popular accessories to save you money 7-15% off depending on the bundle offered. Also we have coupon code DP5 running for rosineers who don't want the bundle items and want to customize their cart.

Send me a PM once you place your order

Thank you for your reply, psychonaut. Looking forward to the restocking of the warehouse in Belgium. And I'll certainly send you am PM after ordering.

My first attempt squishing 4g.

Probably twice the yields of using my DIY setup, thats still not great. I feel with better technique this can be improved, so i am happy. I had quite a few blowouts. This was due to the paper i am using, and positioning on the plates. Currently i am using 10cm raw paper, i need wider. Any suggestions for better paper in the UK?

Overall not a bad first run, but need to get those drips running down the paper like in the videos.

Hi guys
Hi Guys @psychonaut Do you know when the dp-bj3t33-pro will be back in stock ?
Also , what does the box that dabpress ships in look like ? Are they plain brown boxes or are do they have the contents pictured and/or described on the outer carton ?
Due to the area I live in , I would not be able to have a box that Screamed "Rosin Press!!" shipped to my door
Thank You
J.

Welcome @KhanAbyss ! What country are you located in?

All of our boxes shipped out from the China factory are plain boxes marked accordingly for this side up, etc.
Amazon USA does put their own SKU labels on boxes as you may know, those have a description of the product and a barcode, but they typically ship them out in their own amazon boxes. Refurbished and Used product on Ebay USA ships out discreet.

Unfortunately we had discontinued dp-bj3t33 pro as it wasn't selling over compared to dp-bj3t33. I inquired with the factory about any units and they said it's already sold out. Sorry about that! Our dp-bj3t33 is a single PID controller which heats both plates up to the same temperature.

Regarding the box, it's a plain brown carton usually packaged inside of an Amazon box, as we use Amazon warehousing for shipments in the US (even when purchased through www.dabpress.com)
