I’m considering buying the DCup. For those of you who own one and use it daily tell me what iou like and dislike about it. I want a dedicated dab rig. I have a VRod and like it a lot.

i have a press and make my own rosin quite a bit. Rather than use the VRod for both I’d like to specifically use it for flower.l and add a DCup for concentrates.

Man, that's the path I went down and as much as I love the VRod, I wholeheartedly endorse separate rigs for flower and concentrates these days. The VRod is one of those things that does pretty well at two tasks... But there really isn't anything like having a dedicated dab rig.

If I could recommend something to my past self, it'd probably be a Weedeater and separate dab setup. I personally prefer a quartz banger/axial coil but it's a very subjective thing and the DCup has its own pros/cons in comparison.

Currently, I dab off of the Sic dish on my Flowerpot. I do smaller sized dabs and don't typically do large amounts in a session. Does the Dcup perform well with small amounts or does i require large amounts?

Small dabs work great, as do large dabs.

Sapphire dish is well worth the extra cost.

Dam, a few weeks after I sold my Dcup and weedeater in favor of the Vrod, something clicked with me and concentrates, rosin in particular. In fact I have only vaped flower 2-3 times in the last few weeks. Maybe next sale I’ll pick up another one and just share the pid with the Vrod as it’s my king vape for flower.

I think I was hitting them too cold and too hot, never really getting a proper temp hit for my needs. Dialed my Carta in and effects were like new again. Then hit the Vrod a little hotter and longer and same thing. Then I picked up a second hand Rio and wow all over again, now torch and banger. Basically been playing with new toys not flower related. The few times I did flower it was great again so I’ll have to find a balance.

If you do go back to the DCup, I'd recommend no terp pearls and only a one hole carb cap, def helped me find those specific temps I think. And keeps those hits nice n thick. Less air dilution.

I was going to go with the two hole cap. Why do you like the single hole better? Are tern pearls a necessity?

Yea, I remember wanting to try plugging one of the holes when using the Dcup, didn’t know they came in a one hole. Same with Vrod, two hole for flower but might try plugging one of my two hole cap for concentrates. I use one pearl on the Vrod to spread the oil but my dabs weren’t big enough for pearls to do anything in the Dcup as I placed the dab in the middle and it spread pretty evenly in that big dish on its own.

I feel like the pearls just become a distraction. I end up trying too hard to get them spinning and my hit gets hot and dry. Thing is they do help get everything off the scoop dabber.

Edit: nevermind, I was high and thought I was responding to a different thread. The below applies to bangers, but not the DCup due to its large diameter.

Apologies!

You definitely don't need to get the pearls spinning for them to be effective. In fact, I think spinning them is more detrimental to the process...but it does look good for videos!

You only need the pearls to move around the dish to get their full benefit imo. If they start spinning fast, they just create a mess, slinging oil around where it won't be vaporized efficiently. Plus, like you mentioned, it affects your breathing as well.

With a bubblecap, you should be able to move the pearls around the dish without too much issue.

Will a bubble cap fit the DCup?

You're right, I forget the DCup has a larger OD than a 30mm banger. I know some blowers make extra large bubblecaps, but they're definitely going to be much more difficult to find/more expensive. So possible to obtain, but likely not worth it.

I was reading the sapphire insert thread at the same time and forgot I was responding in the DCup thread. My mistake!

If you get them terp pearls spinning, you have so much more chance of getting oil spilling over the side of the dish and under the dish, then getting a stick dish. Also, if they're spinning, as others have pointed out, they throw oil all over the place.

Personally, paying for a sapphire dish and all that extra flavour it provides and then having your oil/concentrates hitting Ti and having that be part of your vaping experience? Nuh uh! Not in my house, sister!

The dish is so large that needing to have any oil move around is a bit pointless as it will move of its own accord just by turning the carb cap for instance. Also, the dish maintains temperature so well that having the oil move about isnt that necessary.

I just woke up so I'll be back to disagree with myself after coffee and dabs :)

EDIT: I blocked one of the holes in my 2 hole carb cap, I did not buy a one hole carb cap direct from NV. I've suggested to NV to start doing a one hole carb cap for the DCup.

It would seem that NV only makes the dcup carb cap with two holes now.

Am I missing something here?

How does the DCup differ from a traditional axial coil and banger setup? I’d debating between a DCup and a coil & banger setup.

any info you can share about why you like one versus the other would be appreciated. I just need some insights and feedback before I pull the trigger.

I’m in the same boat. 30mm 710 coil setup, Cross tech 30mm micro nail setup, or Back to a Dcup. I’m interested in a quartz banger enail because of possible different insert surface options. Or Dcup and sapphire insert. I’m getting in over my head again, lol.
