I'm looking for a new stealthy on demand vape

I already have a simrell stem an m and a crafty. And have had an edge I'm looking at the grasshopper but I'm afraid to pull the trigger for obvious reasons. As far as I can tell it's the only one that'll check all my boxes. But what other similar options are there?
I'm looking for stealth, efficiency, prefferably convection, fast heat up on demand sort of thing. Like a grasshopper but maybe more reliable.

For flower vaping IDK how much better you can do than an Edge or Fury for battery powered stealth. Vapcaps are small but you have the torch thing. I myself would not want to mess with a Grasshopper. I know Simrell reports that he really likes the Starry, but I don't think they are smaller than an Edge.

You could consider concentrates for times of stealth and go with a vape pen. I do like the Boundless Terp Pen for stealth and efficiency. I've been staying away from cartridge pens lately, but they were wicked stealthy and effective.

I liked it a lot but sold it for money towards the crafty. And I'd get a new edge but I want a new experience.

I think the Mistvape Impcognito with a wood dosing stem + capsules is the stealthiest dry herb vaporizer you can get. It really looks like an e-cig atomiser.
It checks all your boxes plus it's very good looking and handcrafted :cool:

If performance is there, the upcoming Herbie 510 attachment will be great for stealth because it really looks like an e-cig atomizer. There’s a thread about it in the Upcoming portables sub-section.

The Impcognito’s a great choice right now, Firewood 6 is another if you can wait a little, or if you can wait a long time the Nomad is my top choice. :)

I hear the Grasshopper is great when it works, and it is still quite possibly the most stealthy vaporizer around, but reliability issues have plagued it since release. Unless new buyers and people with recent repairs are saying they’re pretty reliable now I’d be concerned about buying one.

I don't see how anyone can rate the grasshopper even if the woeful reliability was completely rectified. It costs $225 to $265 and doesn't offer any cooling at all, right? It's not stealthy if you need to carry a little bubbler.

I like the Imp suggestion or possibly a Splinter V1/2 for $80 on a P80 with a wooden capsule stem worked in for some portability. Ryan and Cole had been including free short wooden stems from a wonky first production run. Not dosing capsule ready but at least making the Splinter a bit more portable without the added expense of a $40 hand turned stem.

This. I've used about 15 different vapes and guess which was the worst? The GH dry. It's so hot it's not a pleasant experience. Totally takes out the fun of vaping.

I find ghost MV1 is an extremely stealthy way to get a few very potent rips quickly while on the go.

Granted, my hands are large enough that I can cover that crazy lightshow while heating.

The grasshopper seems small by itself, but the battery life is so poor, I wouldn't dare tote one without carrying extra cells, and at that point much of the ultra slim form factor goes out the window. This is fairly common in portable vapes, I call them "pseudo-portables" - it's a phenomenon where a vaporizer design gives the illusion of being very portable, while simultaneously sacrificing features which directly affect its portability. The GH is so small it basically relies on spare batteries. Battery capacity tends to be the predominant issue in convection portables. Said it years ago the GH should have been designed around an 18650. I think you can still count on one hand how many bowls most of these convection portables can pump out from a single 18650.


The FW6 looks pretty nice for a convection portable, handles the issue of needing to carry herb vials.

IMO pressing nugs into rosin and using a concentrate atomizer is still the way to go for stealth.

The Grasshopper gets hot, but it doesn't take much to deal with, if that's a problem. If stealth is a priority the MFLB stem does an amazing job in a tiny form. It fits into the silicone mouthpiece, which also does a reasonable job for medium usage. Really though, it only needs to be cooled down if it's running hot or if huge smooth hits are desired. It can be dialled back in temp, but it is a direct draw device. It is simple to deal with in that regard and actually makes one of the best whip vaporisers I've tried. Totally portable too, and stealthy. It doesn't include a vape maze like a crafty/mighty but nothing is stopping anyone from adding one if they want, and it doesn't need to be big.

Often times I've shared my GH with smokers and they've preferred to use it direct instead of paired with the bubbler I was using anyway. By design it's going to get hot if you dial it up, but it's not going to burn you unless you really try, which is quite hard to do. All portable vapes have a high temp oven, near your face there is no mistake, it needs to be cooled down. You can take your dimpled glass cooling 510 vape mouth piece and plug it on your hopper.

In my opinion the GH is by far the best choice for a stealthy on-demand vape. 510 vapes are the only other way to go for flower and in my experience, it's a step down compared to a working hopper. In terms of ease of use, stealth and effect, power efficiency, the hopper takes the cake.

Battery life is about half a gram or less. Vaping on the go is a bit different to seshing on the go. You can take a lot of kit to use with the GH if you please, but the batteries are tiny so maybe taking a small pouch of them for a full day of exploring is a good choice, but it isn't required for a night out or trip to the shops, a movie, a meal out, whatever. The hopper and a single chamber might be enough. It's quite a potent little thing. People with no tolerance are amazing to see after a tiny hit off the hopper. Such red eyes don't lie.

If you already have a collection of reputable equipment you're only missing out by avoiding the grasshopper, especially if you want a stealthy ultra portable vape (because it's the only one).

but I think there are probably way more hoppers in drawers compared to healthy hoppers because they don’t function well and the hopper warranty process is lengthy, costly, and temporary.

things may have changed recently and I may be speaking out of school, but after warrantying my hopper three or so times I couldn’t justify sending it back more. I feel like I was renting “ideal operation time” and just hesitant to use it like I would like to because seeing the performance drop so starkly was very frustrating.

Definitely worth approaching with some caution, but I haven’t had any issues with HLs latest in-house printed heaters. It’s been almost a couple of years since I got my first one and nearly just a single year with two returned from warranty with the newer design, so far.

A stark contrast to the couple of RMAs I got before, back in 2017.

It did take a long time for service, but that shouldn’t be the case going forward. It might be lengthy still, but it wasn’t really costly or temporary for me, now, it was before. The horror stories are real, but also not that horrible. Get your unit fixed and use it! It might as well be in HLs drawer for the time being, it’s more of a wait otherwise.. how long has it been sitting around already?

Wondering what OP decided on? I’m trying to fig out same thing for myself. Either the Impcognito on something like an Aster RT mod (if can still find one) or a Fury Edge. Wondering though how much differently those 2 might perform compared to one another? Any thoughts there?

Hey I just happened to see this, don’t know what the op decided on but I just got a fury edge today and I have an Imp. I would say either one would be great for on the go. The edge is surprisingly great. Better than the fury2 IMO. The flavor seems cleaner and the buzz is strong. I’m honestly a little shocked how high this one is getting me, I’m only on my second bowl tho so we will see. The imp is amazing, one of the top 510 vapes forsure. It hits hard and has near perfect tc. Honestly it uses the same amount of weed or less than the edge and probably gets a bit more out of it because of it being full convection but the edge keeps up. I would say get the imp if you want a full confection vape with long draws and a completely on demand experience where your herb only roasts during your draw. If you are more down with a short session that’s effortless also if you want something easy to share get the edge. I would say overall the imp is a better vape.. it’s like a portable desktop just with a small bowl. With some tinkering on a mod you can get near perfect tc and it is one of the most conservative vapes I’ve used. On the other hand the edge is getting me higher than my mighty, with taste that matches it and clouds that beat it. It’s incredibly efficient for a hybrid vape. I’m happy I added one to my collection and it will serve as my true on the go vape because I prefer an effortless experience when I’m on the go. The imp will still come with me to work and friends houses over the edge though. I’m glad I have them both. Either one is a great addition to any collection.

I’m pretty new to vaping, but the VAS is already kicking in hard. I’ve got a plug in, whip style desktop for home, but have other use cases to address. The simplicity and pocket-ability of the Edge to use while out (esp with dosing caps) along with some easy to use and portable attachments (bubbler, 3D stem) seems like a no brainer for what I’m looking for. My only hesitations have been with regards to how good the vapor production is as well as how conservatively it uses the flower, but sounds like it does pretty well there too. Doesn’t sound like much to not like about it. Knowing myself, I will prob end up getting both an Edge and an Impcognito as it seems each has its own unique attributes that would justify having them both. What mod are you running your Imp on? The Impcognito paired with the discontinued Aster RT is the stealthiest 510 setup I’ve come across.

I run an OG imp on a sinuous P80 mod and I love it. The size and form factor are perfect and I’ve had countless people comment on what a nice “tank” or nicotine vape it is when I’m out with it. The aster RT with an impcognito seems like another level of stealth, but it’s not necessary for me. I think that the edge and the imp would be an amazing combo. If I had to keep one 510 and one electric portable, right now those might be the two I chose. That’s a tough one but I wouldn’t be missing much with an imp and an edge. Honestly add a nice desktop to those two and you have all the vapes anyone will ever realistically need.. but then there is VAS and it’s very real lol. Good luck man I hope you enjoy whatever you end up getting.
