I have so say Ed that I think the heater upgrade will make this the undisputed King of Log Vapes, in looks and in performance! Although maybe look at draw restriction while you're at it ;) I've had some burning questions since you announced the planned upgrade:

What's the change within the heater itself that allows it to reach such high temperatures where the current one cannot do so safely using a VVPS?

Will there be any option to have an older Woodscents (I own a 2018 model) sent in to have the heater upgraded?

Good evening,

@Ramahs never hurts to put back some dough, way I figure it you better expect to put back a bunch for the raffle/fundraiser.

@JEMSKU thing is I am stepping up the wattage of the heater itself. I am not going to say it will eliminate the use of a VVPS as some like the ability to dial in their specific temp setting more accurately. The higher output heater gives it a bit more range through the entire scale with a higher top out temp. I have also been thinking about retrofitting earlier units and shouldnt be a problem. Will be a fee for doing so and a bit of turn around time as well.

Good to hear that you're considering
I think we are past that stage it sounded like a done deal and a surefire promise to me ;).

But I will let you thoroughly guinea pig the new heater and share your verdict to help me decide if my own unit warrants an under-hood boost.

Although I am a bit perplexed, I never run my WS at 10 any longer, taste suffers too much and the vapor can have a yellow tint. Black ABV as well.

Im around the 9 mark, depending on the dryness of the material sometimes just a notch over 9 and the Vapour will be a little harsh and less Pleasant with really dark ABV from the first draw.

At other times I'm bumping just over 9 to get satisfactory extraction but I never really feel the need to go to even 9.5 now I will get more complete and faster extraction that way but at the expense of better quality vapor.

And unlike torching the vapcap where there is usually very little active remaining after I am done, the WS at less than full power does leave some actives behind and for edibles.

So I dont see how the new heater would add to my Woodscents experience, unless I'm missing something?

Of course it may well change the vape signature bringing about some surprise performance differences.

The only reason I could see for a bigger heater is a bibber bowl to match, I could combust with my VVPS if I wanted too, maybe good for a concentrate model but my second WS at 13.5v seems like plenty for rosin too (some people go to 14v+ for trates):myday:

I would say if you only own one WS, just get the new one for temperature stepping and trates and if you have 2 WS already, try to wear one of the old heaters out by running it at higher volts for whatever reason you think you need more power for first.

When I had my underdog I loved tossing in a couple crumbs of weed and doing one or two-hit extractions. I'd session like that with one micro-load after another, I liked getting consistent rips every time.

With the woodscents I have been finding that I need to pack the bowl to get it to extract fully. With a couple crumbs, if the screen isn't covered, I can't seem to be able to get it dark at all.

Good evening everybody. Nice n high here in UK tonight. I've not used my Woodscents so far today. I went for the Elev8r.

But my Elev8r use has been only occasional since the DDave Ti screens really improved my WS experience and enjoyment and it has been almost a daily driver, in rotation.

As you all say, one of it's greatest attributes is the tiny amounts of flower it takes for such huge clouds. It gives me extra peace of mind when it comes to really enjoying my mum and I's hard work and rewards.

Just 6 WS loads yesterday. 3 early evening, 3 before bed. Along with my edible digestive aid. So little herb used for 2 nice little sessions.

But hear me now- to all prospective Woodscsents owners- my only actual gripe with my WS.
It does have a dark side and like a ruthless thug he has a tendency to lure me down a dark alley, trick me into removing my cap, entertain and distract me with a spectacular light show and fun and games....

Which is all very well and good, until several hours after I'm back home and it dawns on me that he never gave me back my wallet....I mean, Cap!

The cunning swine. Haha, thankfully each time I have managed to relocate my misplaced cap, but it has been a few days on occasion.

Looking forward to some WS action later on. Warmest vibes all your ways tonight guys. :)

Good morning,

@Ramahs Yes sir its certainly something I have to consider as I knew I would be asked if it were possible. So yes atm I am going to offer it as an option.

@Alexis Tbh if you are already enjoying your WS as it is and are able to use it with all the stem options with success then I dont really see the need for the upgraded heater. I myself use my same ole same sole redwood burl 17 model just as I always have. But there are some that feel they just need that little bit extra and the new heater provides that.

@LesPlenty I know you have enjoyed using both your WS specifically for this reason. Would 3 make it better?

@triskelion WoodScents makes sense.

@JEMSKU you have yours on its way back to me right? I wanna say thats so. I am anxious to go over it and through it.

@muunch No sir not just yet, I have a half dozen out there already and am anxious to hear back from those with the upgrade. They will release the first part of september as I am waiting on Ti airpaths that should be here by end of the month. I will let you all know here when they are available.

@Alexis These DD screens you mention, pls tell me more. Are these used in the stem, the unit itself?

@letter never sent Wow thats very little, sounds like you have it all figured out.

That must be the tiniest amount, it is pretty easy to cover the screen with a small pinch, I do not know how to help, maybe cover your load with a Fury2 concentrate pad to keep things in place?:\

Yes :haw: I am lightweight AF. I just like keeping things functional, using micro loads ensured I never packed more than I was up for!

Good morning,

@JEMSKU you have yours on its way back to me right? I wanna say thats so. I am anxious to go over it and through it.

Nope? Afaik mine is running to spec. Gives result in line with testing @LesPlenty showed off on the vapor asylum forums, I've been satisfied using my VVPS (although it is a little clumsy having that block out on my couch).

@Ed's TnT hello brother, thanks for always paying attention to everyone individually in this thread. I have seen you always taking interest in every person's situation and it's so nice how you really put your mind and heart into replying thoughtfully and considerately to every one of us every time without fail.

Do you have a jotpad?
Haha, seriously though! Anyway, just handing out credit of late, so many good good guys/girls out there and in here who really help to lift my spirits just by being themselves and caring.

So yes what you say on the woodscents upgrading and Necessity for it in my own case I don't feel much need because like I say I never go near maximum power because for me vapor and taste suffers too much.

But I also wonder and I think there was some suggestion in the thread a while ago that there may be some variation to how different units run?

If this is the case maybe my unit runs slightly hotter than some others.

What I am curious about they and I really do buy into this whole vape signature phenomenon- it may be the case that at the heater upgrade enables a different extraction and flow of vapor at lower temperatures.

@Ramahs I'm counting on you here mate you are my man in position to to thoroughly test this out for me when the time comes please, I know I can trust your appraisal on that. All in good time.

These DD screens you mention, pls tell me more. Are these used in the stem, the unit itself?

Well we were discussing it briefly quite some pages back it was actually the inventive @LesPlenty who put me on to the existence of the fantastic little Ti @DDave vapcap screens.

https://www.ddavemods.com/store/p86/VapCap_Mesh_Screen_Replacements.html

I'm glad you asked Ed because I just saw on Dave's site that's his legal situation may be looking more promising after all which is great news (only because I want to get some more of those handy little screens of course lol).

Wishing you a speedy and full resolution there @DDave .

So yeah, @Ed's TnT these ti screens really have improved my woodscents experience because the thing I struggled with most of all was the restricted airflow.

The DDave screens have improved my woodscents and vapcap experience immeasurably.
I def recommend.

Good morning,

@JEMSKU No biggie nothing wrong with being a LW, to each his own. Got confused on your earlier post, my bad. Glad you are finding your way and thanks for letting me know.

@Alexis Appreciate the kind words and you know I have said it many times that when someone takes their time to stop by here and post I dang well better recognize that and them for doing so. Its respect and showing that. My old man told me long ago you show respect you get respect, if you do and they dont wish em well and walk away. I feel there is most certainly a difference in vape signature due to wood species. The density and structure of the grain affects the overall temp and how it holds and retains heat within the unit. Ahhh would be great to see these clearer in a larger image. I zoomed in through my browser but gets grainy the more I zoom. Looks like they have a more open mesh and can see how they would increase air flow, way to go @DDave . @LesPlenty has made great efforts in his use with the SS mesh screens and appreciate his insight and posts with this. Thanks for sharing this. I hope all is well.

@LesPlenty That oughta do it there.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well out there. I have been so slammed with many new great things going on that I feel I have not shared as much as I should have here. So let me get right to it.

I know I have made mention of the WS heater upgrade but dont think I have nailed anything down as for when what and how all that so will try and do my best to do that now.

I have a bunch of new units turned, new heaters installed, 24 hour bench time done and am buttoning up at the moment. New heaters have a 40% increased performance output providing a wider range of temps across the entire scale as well as an extra 100F at top end max temp. I strongly recommend not running the units at max for extended periods of time, there is just no need for it. Every unit has had a 24 hour bench time at max temp to ensure quality performance and stability. I wanted to give the WS a little more pedal to the floor for those that feel it just needed a little more hence the 40% its just enough to get there without getting ignorant and causing problems. I dont recommend running it at max temp for extended periods of time cause there is no need for it. The heater will react and adjust to change quickly. If you have to do what you do at max go for it then roll it back. I say this to prolong the units lifespan and performance. Its like running a sports car with the pedal to floor the entire time, its not a good idea. Below is the temperature range scale

WS-Temp-scale-copy.png

I suggest starting slow and low on the temp control to get to where you feel comfortable then adjust accordingly as needed.

I am working to make them available either tuesday but maybe wednesday. I have several species in this batch, a couple of one maybe a few of another. Burls and swirls domestics and exotics as well as a Honduras Rosewood Burl. I had no idea when I began turning it that it would be this slammed with burl and turn out to be such a masterpiece when done.

I have also gotten these really nice well made heavy glass bubblers that accept a 14mm male. Its two hole bubbler with bottom intake for maximum flavor. I really like the weight and feel of it in hand. The 14mm male seats snug and very secure in the female connection so no need to worry. I found it to perform really well and feel you will also. Each bubbler comes with its own wood stand to keep it safe and upright out of harms way. They are available at my site.

I am also working on a WS/DV workstation I am calling it. its bout 5x7 and will be available in 3 different species very soon. Has a magnet on either side of the center recess to keep your stem & cap in place. has an outer recess at either end to keep your material separated. Will also have a debowler spike in the center for easy ABV removal.

@bizwaxzion Am glad to hear you are still rocking it and appreciate the update. I hope you do so for a long time to come. Wish you well and all the best.

I am probably forgetting something but figure you all will have great questions and I will do my best to get back and answer up. I wish you all a great start to the week and all the best ahead.

Exciting stuff Ed well done on really using your incredible imagination to bring these developments. I'm thinking you must have combusted a few times test running those new heaters through their paces.

I will be watching with interest to see see how the general performance and vape signature might be altered in any way regardless of the temperature range.

So I was just going to drop in here actually and say how much I am really enjoying my woodscents recently more than I have since I owned it two and a half years ago.

Currently I'm running at about 8.6 on the dial. I am having my best overall WS experience this way. If I go to 9, abv darkens fast on top, i get instant dense vapor.

It only takes a couple seconds of that initial draw, once up to milk, to get enough of a lung full.

However, my biggest gripe with the higher temperatures and reason for going lower is I will get very dense instant vapor production from 9 and above but normally the second hit is nowhere near as dense and the load is on the decline in terms of flavour and actives remaining for subsequent hits.

I genuinely was feeling as though I was not getting an equal return on the medicine that way and I didn't like the experience of the first hit being by far the best and then going downhill.

What I have found is that by running the temperature at little lower between 8.5 and 9 I am getting so many more really worthwhile and still very substantial hits from each bowl.

I get perfectly dense vapour from the first hit and can still fill a lung in just a couple of seconds.
But the top of the load gradually tans this way, and keeps delivering great hit after great hit.

My previous load about 1 hour ago which is never even a full tips worth as with the vapcap, I must have got 7 or 8 really good big hits from it and I was thinking I'm getting more money's worth from this load then I would have from a full load torching the cap.

Just wanted to share this anyway because up until now I had not really settled on a particular temperature and usage routine. This is honestly the most I have enjoyed this device yet and I'm using it as my daily driver more than anything else.

Who knows I may even pick up a VVPS to help me be pinpoint with those specific temperatures.

Depends on your draw speed, methinks. I get perfectly roasted (lighter color than most of my other vapes), ABV at 9.5-10, with no dark spots. But I start drawing slow, and quickly ramp it up to where it takes very little time to fill my dirty lungs.

I wonder if our heaters run at slightly different temps. On 9.5 above my abv is pretty black after the first draw. The vapor can be a little yellow too. Taste suffers, it is less pleasant.

No way does my unit need an increase in available heat, and 9.5 is too hot for decent quality vapor.

But YMMV as they often say around here.

I have tried all draw speeds. Rapid, slow, medium. I still get the same result. I cant be sure faster drawspeed compensates for a higher temp, it almost seems to backfire sometimes and really ramp up the heat and vapor density.

Hello all, I'll get back an address posts above when I have a little more time.

Most all 2019 WS models are in stock available for purchase at my site with upgrade heater core. There is maybe a couple of one species and several of another. With so many varieties it's hard to have several of all.

Alot of great units and even a few new ones, Los have a look.

Thanks for the support and patience everyone.
