My AVB is still quite green after multiple hits on maximum. Bowl does not look properley spent even after a dozen hits. I get tired of doing the cigar pulls after more that a dozen hits. Overall i am not that impressed to be honest. I am doing the cigar pulls, taking long 10-15sec drags. I dont think i have the technique wrong.

I filled the bowl to capacity and then tamped down a little bit. Draw resistance is like sucking on a mc donalds milk shake. Performance with a load like this is quite a bit better. AVB is getting darker. However still not totally impressed. This vape would be good for someone who likes sipping.

If it’s any help or consolation your experience sounds just like what I was seeing. I ended up sending mine back in for a look last week.

My two FW5's definitely vape differently. I wonder if there is some unavoidable variance in performance? Maybe the heater or parts' performance vary or have variable tolerances? That require each unit to be calibrated? Or adjusted?

Weird - my draw resistance is minimal - so much so, it was tough for me to do the cigar puffs without a little practice.

I am definitely getting the hang of my FW6 - I am enjoying it more and more. I have not been messing with the temps and have basically been using it at 410F. A little higher than I usually go, but I just haven’t had the patience to really figure out the temp settings.
I used it with CBD late last night and was getting really nice hits and even good vapor (rare for CBD).

For first hit or two I use the cigar puff technique, but once the heater is warm, I just draw and can get good hits.

Do you remember the Flowermate Swift Pro? This may be a similar situation in that with the Swift Pro we had to set the temp at around 405 degrees Fahrenheit and pull really hard for about 8-10 seconds. It was pretty much pure convection as I recall and therefore required some considerable effort to pull the heat up and through the bowl.
Ugg. I definitely remember the Swift Pro. To this day, it is the only vape I ever returned. I just could not get that thing to work for me. The draw needed to make that work would give me a headache - the FW6 does not need that excessive speed.
The FW6 draw is basically the same I use for F2/Edge.

To be continued....

Me too (think I'm being invoiced next week ?) but I'm sure Marc is on the case.....I have faith these are easy to rectify issues.
this is the very first round that's made it out in the wild, and being the first I would call it a tiny batch of beta test units. I would even guess that Marc may have expected a couple or few of them to come back for adjustments, so he kept the first batch to a handful, instead of dozens.
And maybe he kept the temps in this round for a reason?
I'm sure he'll be here eventually to help us understand. :\

Compared to what? Like what temp? Higher temps will result with more bowls extracted, lower temps have more battery waste. Like sub 390F.

compared to lower temps? I’m not sure what you’re asking but if you’re starting at 400 to get vapor, that means you’re going even higher to finish the bowl. I can start at 350 on the firewood 5 and take it pretty far. I’m not saying it will be dramatic but it’s going to affect it. Hopefully I’m taking out of my ass and it’s negligible, but how hot can it get?

I'm saying if I'm at 440F I'm getting 12 bowls because it's less heating and hits, but if I'm at 370F I'm getting 6 to 8 bowls because it's more hits and more overall heating.

Ahhhh I gotcha. That makes sense. I was thinking of it from a perspective of getting the flavorful hits from low temps and then bumping up to finish it out. Thanks for clarifying that.

So you’re pretty good with where you’re at now with the 6?

I got my fw6 in the mail Saturday and I'm completely blown away by the woodwork and craftsmanship.

Seriously WTF. This thing took alot of thought, care and effort in design and building. The little details and design features are truly impressive. Im glad I got a finished unit. I would think finishing it myself would be alot of work.

Anyways, I quickly changed my temps to the levels i prefer....360 to 370 for 2 clicks.... 390 to 400 for 3 clicks and 440 to 450 for 4 clicks

As far as usage the unit performs really well. I'm getting nice even, brown abv.

I have been doing 2 small puffs before each hit to get the bowl warm and then taking my draw. I've played with some different draw speeds and found that it's not that picky.

The glass does get warm during use.

I haven't used the herb storage section but it is bigger than i imagined it would be.

I was worried about the slider being a weak point but I don't think it'll be a problem.

Any questions I can answer for anyone? Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Unless I misunderstood the chart in the manual, I do wish that I had 3 functional temp ranges to choose from. 2 clicks at 300 to 310 degrees is not very useful in my opinion/usage and that is the highest temperature of that section in the chart.

In a perfect world I'd love to have 3 temps....360-370....390-400....440-450. This is not possible, correct?

Thanks for your report.

I agree about the temp selection. I prefer low temperatures, but realistically 360°F is low imho. I mean we're vaping marijuana, right?

No, you can set any of the three temp levels to whatever 10 degree range you want between 250 and 450. For instance I had mine at 360-370 for level 2 and maxed out level 4 to 440-450. You could literally set all to 440 if you wanted to.

Thank you I'm for replying. I'm glad that I've misread the chart. Thanks for confirming that this is possible.

I thought the chart showed the ranges that each click needed to be within. Good to know I can program it how I'd like. I edited my write up to take that part out.
