Firewood Vaporizer

I was trying to decide between the FW6 and the Ghost. Ghost is on sale for $146 on PIU. Isbit still best to stick with the FW6?

I had an MV1 but never really got along with it, when it worked it was great but I couldn't get consistent results. I didn’t get the FW5 but I have an FW4 and love that little thing.

I’m on the invoice list for the FW6 hopefully next week. Personally if I had to choose between the two I’d go with the Firewood, just the craftsmanship alone does it for me. I’m sure both vapes would give great results once dialled in but it’s got to be the Firewood if I had to choose.

The look of the vape definitely goes to the FW6. Love it! I also never had a wood vape so I'm really curious about it.

Thanks for the reply

I am doing a little better with my FW6 thanks to all of the great advice here (esp @flammy )
I find I was actually drawing too slow - I was using same draw as I use for Milaana and Lil Bud - but that is way too slow.
Giving it the heat up and a few cigar puffs definitely helped.
I am still not quite there yet, but I am willing to give this some extra time because I really love the form factor.

Here are a few pics:

I asked for contrasting walnut.

Marc did not disappoint with the contrast!

Where are you seeing the Ghost for that cheap on PIU? I see it for 224.99, which is the new standard price, and then their puffedup coupon takes it to ~$190 before tax. Is there a better coupon you’re using?

That’s a crazy deal. But with all the price drops and sales and Ghost hinting at something new, this does feel like they’re clearing out stock before announcing an MV2.io

Anyway, I’m off topic, my apologies!
I think it's this AND that big price scares away lots of potential customers. Maybe early to mid 2020 will see a new one and that will still be less then what Ghost used to cost.

I'm really glad to hear you're getting better results. One thing that I have found out and I didn't emphasis in my earlier post is that the FW6 seems to operate better with a tight pack. Try really tamping down the load next time.

That's a good looking wood collection you got going there. Really pretty walnut LB. Did Alan turn that stem that's sitting on it? What type of wood is that? Again, please feel free to DM me if you think I can be of help.

Yes, I have been packing it quite a bit. I have kept it to about half full, but maybe I will try a fully packed bowl to see how it goes.
Yup, that beautiful stem is one of @Alan ’s. If I remember correctly, it is Purple Heartwood.

Ok. I haven't tried a fully packed bowl. I was just more speaking of tamping it down well which it seems like you're already doing. Have you tried adjusting your temp settings?

What "scared" me away was that I asked and they just ignored me. Ehh, screw Ghost buy American made by Mark.

Ghost's marketing gimmicks are a bit much for me. That's just me, though.

Do you remember the Flowermate Swift Pro? This may be a similar situation in that with the Swift Pro we had to set the temp at around 405 degrees Fahrenheit and pull really hard for about 8-10 seconds. It was pretty much pure convection as I recall and therefore required some considerable effort to pull the heat up and through the bowl.

Also, I have to wonder about the heating dynamics of the ceramic components. It's plausible, I suppose, that as most of us are not accustomed to a ceramic bowl, we may find that we have to adapt our usual vaping techniques, and, that it may be that the FW6 requires a higher heat setting and stronger pull then many of our other vapes due to the ceramic components. Just a theory.

Good luck and keep us posted! :sherlock:

Vape swap shop
Mine arrived last wednesday. Customs charge for the full value of the vape, ouch. Same with FW5 so was expected. Other vendors have been more inventive with there customs forms in the past.

I am still getting to know my FW6. I was not getting great results at first but have now adjusted all the heat settings. Not easy to get it to register 7 clicks sometimes. Have been using on 4 set to max, and getting good hits. Bit of a shame i have to max it out to get good hits, but this might just be my lack of technique. I am still in the "getting to know you phase". It seems this vape gives a really nice clean high. The size and craftmanship are next level.

I am a bit scared to use the onboard herb storage. I have to be very stealthy at home, and cant have it stinking the place up. Does it smell a lot once loaded? I was going to load it, when out and about to see how bad it was before bringing it home.

I too am in the UK and received my shipping yesterday. How long from shipped to delivered did yours take? Also what were the total customs charges?
Can’t wait to get to ‘grips’ with this micro beast! Feeling bad for my 5 though, he’s occupied the dog walking daily driver spot for so long now.
