AVS m22

Just got mine. Threw it on my beat up old Evic Basic which has been having resistance issues for a while, had to check it out. Mine was reading 1.5 ohms, threw it into 30w with a bit of sauce coating the bottom. Just kinda hammered it the whole time on the heat, got two hits off it, went to swab the bowl and I just can't get it to read resistance that low anymore. Probably set this one aside until the new spring clips, just not making a solid connection.

You guys are removing the zirconia housing and using the uninstalled clips right? If your escc isnt phyiscally broken that it.

From Brent re @buckhakeesah's question:

@Herbie Hancock - if you still have your SiC pieces maybe you can reassure the others?

Thank you for sharing Brent's response. I appreciate that. Well I had my first go with it. Its really nice. I like it. My escc is sitting nice and snug in the zirconia. I'm at 20W. Probably could go higher to finish it quicker but its quite efficient and I feel I can get the most of what I want without charring compared to my quartz atomizers. Great job AVS!

Thank you for sharing Brent's response. I appreciate that.

No problem -glad to help!

Has anyone tried the ESCC sans zirconia housing? Got it mounted this way, and it seems much more stable at ~1.5 Ohms. Haven't dabbed yet - need to work on spreadsheets today. If you try, be very careful - took a lot of force. Sure the legs would snap, but got lucky.

Yea my ESCC is stable with no zirconia but Brent stated that the zirconia also provides some shorting prevention wheb installed so I'm trying to get it stable. But without zirconia I get upwards of 1.2-1.5, with about 1.8-2.0

I also removed the zirconia housing after about two tries yesterday. Mine is making a much more tight and stable connection without the zirconia housing.

I was pushing down on it to put it into the post holes with the zirconia installed and because there was some dab in there and I have large fingers I had been using the dab tool to put pressure and push down on the post hole area. Well it gave in this time around, I wasn't putting a ton of pressure at the time but I remember the first time trying to put the secondary clips that I heard a crack and I was trying to be careful since then.

That Chinese holiday next week throws a wrench in things now :(

Tried without the housing. Not heating up very fast. Loaded a 20mg dab, set to 60W. Took a 10 second hit, almost nothing. In frustration, cranked it up to 150W (Brent said 60W is the max) - still not much. Disassembled - lots of oil on the bottom of the ESCC. Finally, just stood on the power button at 150W and watched. Took about 20 more seconds to burn off. Seemed to be working - just took as long or longer than other vape pens, like the DT4.

Pretty torn between waiting for the AVS m22 and just buying a Sai and a new box mod. Am I write in thinking the m22 will need "wiring" when the coil burns out or am I missing something? Fancy the m22 for the Sic dish but I never found a great difference between that and the Quartz dish when I had a enail.

Any ideas on general release for the m22? Seems like it's been kicked back a few times now?

ive been running mine with out the zirc housing since Thursday with out any problems. I even took it to a comedy show last night. I used new clips and sometimes if i want a really low resistance one post is pushed in a little further than the other

Nope there is no wiring unless you use the included coils, however the bucket is supposed to last a very very long time. There is a big difference between quartz and sic but you might not notice it but i do. Just maintenance alone SIC is much more forgiving when it comes to clean up. You can always get the SAI as a back up then get the m22 when it arrives. I can literally rip this thing till there isn't anything left to clean up.

Yea the SiC bucket is really all it's claimed up to be. I just set up the Oct core coils and it really rips through dabs too. It's still a coiled setup and now that I have tried the SiC I hate having to go back. But oh well, new better SiC and spring clips coming in a few weeks.

I had to unwrap a coil to get it to not be pressing against the ceramic. But it rips really well.

I actually found one coil that fit i gotta compare it to the others that dont fit.

Thanks @Grifo for the info, I'd still sooner have the sic as it's just more durable long term over Quartz. I have the motar, with a upgrade longmada crystal incoming too. So the m22 is more of a plug an play device that's more my cup of tea anyway. I've had a few different dishes in the past, sapphire being my personal fave over the sic but Quartz and sic came close.

What mod are you using on the m22 mate? Any suggestions for the m22 and/or Sai?

Wismec reuleaux dual is what I'm using. I'm not that happy with it but it might be my inexperience with mods. And I like the m22 more compared to the sai but if u dont want to wait get the sai then the m22 if funds allow. You will atleast have a back up if you need one.

I actually prefer the taste of quartz over Sic but the Sic is easier to keep clean and is more robust in taking knocks and bumps(DNail Halo), the Sic in these early m22 units looks way too thin to handle any sort of a bump or even a hard press with a qtip. I hope the new version will be a bit beefier.:2c:

I dropped my mod from the kitchen counter and it hit the tile floor today. My batteries popped out and there is a small dent on the knurled top part. ESCC is still intact lol YMMV since people broke theres very easily. I know i know i sound like a fan boy but im not this is actually my first AVS product other than coils and a dish.

You were very lucky! I bet your eyes widened as it was falling.

I have dropped a quartz dish on the carpet and it broke.:disgust:

Sic in Dnail form is quite robust compared. :2c:

yeah i had the m22 in one hand and something in my other hand and set it down and instead of just opening one hand i opened both of them like the dummy i am. SMH i seriously cant have anything nice. What brand of dish? most of the dishes i broke was were the joint meets the bucket because they were not "worked" so its naturally a weak point. oh I also broke 2 ruby inserts.

What brand of dish?
DNail style donut dish (but not DNail), the middle part that the nut tightens onto, it just popped off when it hit the very thick, soft carpet, Chinese shit.

I also avoid nice bongs as I believe all glass is a consumable, it is a matter of when not if breakage occurs.:haw:

I am looking forward to the final product becoming available, I am just glad I did not stumble onto this thread earlier as it would mean even longer waiting and you poor buggers that got one and it broke so soon would be such a tease.:myday:

Ok ... so first uses of the M22 with the ESCC weren't great ... wattage kept dropping and mod kept going into ohms too high. I disassembled and reassembled a few times, and tried with and without the zirconia housing, and either way I wasn't getting a good steady resistance.

Finally, I figured out that if you don't put the clips all the way onto the legs of the ESCC (you make sure the "clips" are still on the ridges on the legs of the bucket so the legs of the bucket aren't quite bottomed out, and then you install in the base; doing it this way, I got a steady resistance of 1.1-1.4 ohms and it didn't cut out at all. I then did this but with the zirconia housing, and it's still working great! Just had a wonderful session @ 28W and it never cut out, and I even q-tipped it clean and did a burn off, and an ISO wipe down, and resistance is still good. When installing with the zirconia housing, after seating into the base, I pushed down above the legs with a q-tip (firm enough, but also light enough :) ) to seat it down properly. Very little wobble to my zirconia housing now, and the resistance seems to be holding steady :)

Haven't had much luck with trying to improve the connection. The lowest resistance was 1.4 Ohms. Didn't get to try it and haven't been able to get it that low again. Have you noticed that the gold "plating" wears off very quickly? It seems to be more of a dusting. It might only be able to take a little fussing before it gets even worse.

@Accept ... for the gold plating are you referring to that on the legs of the SiC cup? I hadn't noticed, but I also hadn't paid attention to that really ...

My resistance now seems to be mostly >2 :( .... still working pretty good, but I feel it was a lot better when it was staying <1.8

Edit: I wonder if there is some oxidizing or something occurring on the legs interfering with the connection?
