AVS m22

Lives up to the hype. I started at 25w and finished at 30w and boy does this thing rip. I got 2 big hits and two shmedium ones off of a little diamond sauce. I opened the top and didn't see any residue until I qtipper with iso and it was back to being clean. I'm surprised how ripped I am from the small amount of sauce that i used.

I'm more even hyped now for the glass attachment and mod.

I removed the zirconia cup and it works so much better. still need to get used to the pulsing though

Should we move this thread to e-cig based portables - or wait for the full kit?
Well, they aren’t doing regular production orders for even just the M22 yet, so I’d vote waiting till at least that point rather than “most pre-orders fulfilled, some folks still waiting, and everyone waiting on the final version.” And as long as what’s gonna be put in my mailbox, hopefully later this morning, is basically functional till the finalized version I’ll be happy with it, but without all final parts in hand on all the pre-orders and without production orders shipping off their website I’d say it’s still unreleased. Though I’m not sure what this site’s exact criteria are.

Mine is “out for delivery” and I’m horribly envious of y’all who have already gotten yours, I saw on reddit some folks were having trouble with crucibles breaking if dropped or even moved with inadequate gentleness and due to how some of the connectors are it being potentially easy to drop just the crucible so I’ll be watching out for those issues and being very careful with it to hopefully not run into those issues. Looking forward to putting some ~20% terpene ~50% pressed rosin through it and seeing how it compares to my quartz banger. Cause sure it’s competing with wax pens but based on what AVS has said in promoting it and what fans have said in response to that I’m hoping that the finished crucible will have me giving away or selling my enail.

Just arrived. Gotta say, it looks a little hasty. The ESCC is egg-shell thin and very rough-textured. There's a chip at the top - not surprising being so thin. The spring clips just fall off, and the resistance isn't steady. The thinness is obviously necessary for rapid heating, and the other issues are being addressed. Glad to have it in hand, even if it's still a little less than perfect.

What settings are you all using?

I just opened mine. I honestly just wanted to try "new tech". I've moved away from Sic dishes, and have been on sapphire or quartz dishes mainly, so coming back to SiC seems like going backwards for me but I'm always open to trying new things.

I don't fully understand how they made it, but is this a powerized SiC coating over some metal dish? I have scrapes on my escc that show the underlying material. So to me, it looks like a powerized SIC coating process? I dunno if it's possible or what but I've only used Sic Dishes that are thicker and seem to be complete SiC. Yes, this early dish is very thin and fragile like an eggshell it seems.

I haven't used mine, I'll try later.

I'll be looking forward to getting the revised items but am happy to be part of this preorder. I never tried the avs coils, so that'll be fun.

Good day guys!

Sadly, have nothing delicious to vape ATM - but the foul taste of this trim shatter comes through intensely. :puke:

First try at 35W didn't get the 20mg dab in one hit - took several. Might need more power.

Believe the dish is all SiC. Maybe you're seeing the deliberately grainy texture? The new version will be smoother. SiC is a semiconductor and current is applied to the gold-plated legs directly.

Wooo, so based on some reading on reddit I ended up using some of the spare clips and it stabilized the resistance issues substantially, based on reading the manual it said to use a substantially smaller amount than you usually do and I wish I’d heeded that suggestion better, as I’ve not been this high during the day in years.

It’s clear there are issues with this version and getting it set up so the resistance wasn’t spiking sooo significantly was a bit of a pain, but despite this being not quite a finished device imo I expect it to become potentially my daily driver as well as my on the go piece if I figure out loading a bit better, I still have to see how it holds up to cleaning cycles and how easy or annoying those are but the blast of flavor and efficiency of the impact of the meds is unprecedented in my experience.

Any tips for loading sticky sugary and/or gooey concentrate into the crucible is welcome, though I don’t expect I’ll need to until later this evening at the earliest, guess I’m not doing chores today and the work from home I was gonna do can wait a day.

Lastly the flavor damn, I’m gonna be having to find some terpy CBD only extracts to hit for the experience of hitting it. I’m struggling to exercise self control with how good this tasted, but probably am ok not getting too much higher this early in the afternoon

What is your current daily driver?
My current daily driver is an axial coil 25mm opaque banger hanger set up from 710 coils with a quartz pi cap. I’ve dialed in my use of it to be extremely satisfying and I think pretty efficient as well as quite tasty. It’s a wonderful device and I don’t think I’ll ever move wholly away from it.

That said I think the AVS M22 when it’s a complete finished product, it’s not there yet, is likely to live up to the hype it has received in some places and will be better than any other portable currently on or near to market for concentrates. I think it may even also outclass many plug in enails.
Maybe not for folks using inserts idk

Even more disappointed with the coils. Can't get them to fire evenly. Taking a break because the mod's too hot. Probably worked out hot spots from thousands of coils at this point, this almost never happens. Sure, you can wrap your own coils that fit better, but disappointed AVS sent these out like this.

I haven't tried using mine, but my reaction is similar to yours- my escc is extremely thin, particularly near the top edges. It looks/feels like it could very easily crumble or chip.

I will prob sit this one out until they have a final product and hopefully some confirmation on the quality of the SiC..

Brent replied immediately on reddit PM. He agreed that this first production run had significant flaws and is confidant they'll be addressed in the next. The variation means that some of the preorder recipients will be suitably impressed, while others are likely to be disappointed.

He also agreed that the included coils are especially difficult to keep from pinching. For now, he suggested bending the legs closer to center. (In DIY experience, this concave bend has the concentrate flowing away from the hottest part of the coil - the opposite of what you want. Unwrapping one wrap also works.) But he's going to increase the inner diameter of the cup by a mm.

Regarding earlier post, let's call this a beta version and keep the thread in the "upcoming" sub for now.

PLEASE DO NOT REPOST THIS ELSEWHERE. Paraphrased Brent's reply because it quickly and adequately addressed complaints in earlier posts and should be read in that context. THANK YOU.

28 watts pulsed real nice hit

But both legs snapped off cup When I went to open the top and both cups popped out and bounced on concrete floor

Neither cup broke but legs were off the cup
Don’t know if it was heat or they broke when hit the floor

Only because the hit seemed to stop al of a sudden which is why I opened it

A little bummed but was expected and warned
Should have waited for AVS mod

I did get a coil going though
Had to strum a lot on 20 watts Pretty good red

18 watts @ 390 on stock Pico 100w
REAL nice hits
The wire JUST fits through the zirconia cup?(white)
Should help a lot with leaking
Going to try unwinding one wrap and Arctic Fox tomorrow

I see the grainy texture but I also see a couple areas that look like the sic grainy coating is scraped off exposing a shiny silver like material underneath. That is what makes me wonder if this is a power coating of some sort and not full SIC. Can SiC be silverfish in color? Here's a pic to share. Its brand new out of box unused.

I am at work now but when I get home I'll try and take a pic of mine I have the same thing a lil scrape which looks like silver material underneath

For those with loose assembly pieces causing the parts to come apart and fall off. Make sure your spring clip is on the escc posts correctly. I had mine on the wrong way and although it still worked it, everything was loose. I dropped everything while wiping up a melt shot, but luckily all survived. Now everything is nice and tight, no wiggle to escc or zirconia, after being seated correctly.

I definitely see promise once it we get the new parts.

I loved it for a very short time. And I know I will again... but back to the waiting game like most people anyway. So much for feeling special. That ESCC is FRAGILE.
ultimately because I couldn’t leave well enough alone. I had it working and for the most part fairly dialed in with My Dna75c. However I couldn’t get it to seat properly with the Zirconia dish. So even though last night everything worked fine, I just had to push it.
So I took it out and tried again with the Zirconia in place. And while pushing down... yup, it cracked, I would more so say shattered. And I was applying extremely even pressure with a silicone rod that fit in the Crucible perfectly. Oh well.
Tried the flat coil, but that’s just not for me. Even that is a GIGANTIC IMPROVEMENT OVER ANY EXPOSED COIL I HAVE EVER TRIED. Still though, I have a hard time going back to the coil when I know the potential.
On another note, does anyone think someone will come up with a custom coil material for the DNA mods that will adequately run in temperature mode?
Anyway. This thing has ridiculous potential. And I’d be using it right now instead of the peak. I just hope the new ESCCs are more durable OR lock in place easier (yes I am aware of the spring).

Thanks for listening to my rant...

From Brent re @buckhakeesah's question:

This is high purity SiC. We have the lab results of the material that were provided by the supplier. All SiC can look different based on the ratio of silicon to carbon. Silicon has a bluish silver luster, similar to metal. SiC has a crystalline structure also that makes it seem shiny. What you're seeing is just the internal structure.

@Herbie Hancock - if you still have your SiC pieces maybe you can reassure the others?
