More low-temp adventures with the Weedeater: Continuing to experiment with gentle, slow DRY hits. Using the Mobius Nuc dry, I now have the temp set at just 575. It's awesome. Almost no coughing. With a super gentle and super slow draw the weed still gets nice and browned and I get just as stoned as faster draws with higher temps and more coughing. YMMV, but I'm super impressed with these low temp hits.

I can’t say that I enjoy it when I combust, but I will say that it gets me higher than no regular bong rip ever could. I’m accidentally combusting uncapped at 613 with just a slow draw. 630 is as high as I’ll go right now. I’m using a very restricted piece with a big volume so that might have something to do with it.

Wow, thats possibly the lowest temp I've heard anyone combusting at. Personally, with my FP usage, I never found any need to go over 630f.

Agreed, I wonder if the bowl is being over packed? Sounds crazy low to get combustion. One time my buddy almost smoked one when I brought my FP over cause he packed the bowl to the brim like one of his burn bowls.

We all know I ripped mine at 777F with no combustion.

I didn’t think I’d overpacked it, but I may have tamped it just a little. Two bowls did that in a row earlier so it might be that plus drawing too slowly

Are you filling the bowl to the brim? Maybe the flower is too close to the heater?

Blocked screen maybe?

I never tamp my bowl at all and I get great results, am I doing it wrong? Lol. I usually only put about 0.1 in at a time.

Its funny this came up, I am doing flower only, in the older carb cap design with one hole. Quartz dish and latest rev V-Rod, no water in my china mobius sidecar. (now mind you I have a sic dish and I have the newer carb cap design with two holes) but found this works really great for dry with the restricted airflow.

I do a pretty fine grind or a little less than fine, fill the bowl up halfway and then tamp it down. Using a glass bowl at 590f with screen.

Heat soak everything for 30 seconds, then a 3-second quick draw just to pull some heat through the herb. Then a five or six second long slow draw to fill the can and take that vapor. Then a couple more can fillings and emptyings (just great rips) then one stir and a final awesome rip. I tried many variations of things and this I have say is the very best for me. No irritation, amazing taste. Just great.

Edit: I have to emphasize how big, tasty and smooth the rips are.

I'm going to have to do a video of just covering the screen and a fine grind tamped

Here's a video from a few months ago where I was just doing my regular technique that I've been doing for a while..I'll do a video with no water and the tamped bowl soon.

Post a pick or link of your rig. It's got to be the main reason you're combusting based on the numbers you're vaping at, so I'm interested to see this thing!

So I'm ready to pull the trigger on a flowerpot. I've been told to go vrod over showerhead (agree?). I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to make the package a little cheaper. Do I need to get their enail, or would one like this work?

Does anyone have any reccomendations for enails that are compatible with the vrod? Thanks!

Would that also work for the carb cap? Thanks!

I broke the handle off mine, totally my fault, I was picking up another glass piece sitting next to one with the glass bowl in it and clipped the handle with the base of the one I was picking up. I initially tossed it but went through the garbage two days later and found both pieces hoping to glue back together but haven’t yet. Anyone have any adhesive suggestions? It’s not in the air path so I don’t see a reason other then how hot it might get not to try.
Well I bought some loctite glass glue and it appeared to work great...until I tried to remove the bowl from the glass while it was hot, glue melted and handle came off in my hand. Can Gorilla glass glue handle heat? And, do they make glue specifically for glass or is it just their clear gorilla glue? At this rate I just may spend more on glue then a new bowl, haha.

VRod if you're going to be doing concentrates, is a better option. Showerhead if you're mainly flower. Flower performance differences between the two are negligible. The decision mainly depends on what surface you want to dab off.

The controller is the brains of the outfit. Cheaper, alternative controllers may well work perfectly, but its a minimal cost trade off for a whole lot of potential headaches if the controller fails.

Carb cap is a different story. If you want all the options and to dab, carb cap is essential, but a makeshift carb cap will do. Hell, I was using the underside of a glass jar for a while :)

That helps a ton! Thank you! I will do mostly flower, but CS from newvape reccommended the vrod (even though they do 98% flower)- that's why I was leaning that way. Concentrates for the showerhead would just go on top of the flower, inside the bowl, right? How is flower performance different between the two? Thanks!

The Menovo is a great controller but it uses a proprietary pinout, so it won't work by default with most coils aside from the one it comes with. I've been down that road and dealt with re-soldering connectors for a while, until I just got tired of it. It's not difficult but does get tedious. So, the money saved may or may not be worth it in the long run.

Flower performance really isnt different enough to bother talking about unless its getting into tiny details.

Showerhead is a Ti dabbing surface. The Weedeater is concentrates on top of flower (no dab surface).

I'd personally agree with NV CS and go VRod. Dabbing on that is far superior to using Ti.
