MiniVAP Vaporizer

Goita, there is a method to getting great rips on MV. It SHINES with full chambers loaded and really big deep draws.

If you just pull from your mouth/cheeks when you inhale, I find it does not produce big rips.
BUT if you pull from your stomach and chest, breath DEEP, and inhale harder, you will find exactly what you are looking for. Mine starts producing really dense vapor after 6+ seconds draws, the longer and harder you pull, the better it gets.

Mine is an OG unit but I ride mine on red from start to finish.

I pack full, light tamp but not tight.

It is full BEAST.

Thanks for the advice. The family have just gone out so will give it a go

Thanks for the quick reply - I went with the glass core and used the silicone mouthpiece. Didn't really get any visible vapor. I do have an evo and a ghost mv1 and this came nowhere near in terms of clouds. Effects were great but it was slow to extract and I need it to be quicker.

Few more questions!

Are you using the long flexible straw that can with the unit?
Do you have a bong at home to use?
How long do you let it heat up for after it has reached its set temp?

My technique is this:
Turn on at RED and allow to heat up.
Grind your bud and load a basket and attach to your straw and lid.
Once MV is up to temp just take the empty MV and suck on the open end to draw hot air up through the core to heat the glass chamber fully.
Attach lid to MV and wait for light to go solid again.
Once solid, take long deep pulls to heat up the material and get vapor.
It should produce lots of vapor!

If you have a 14mm water tool(bong) use the basket and small flexicone.
Same tech as above but just place the loaded flexicone onto your 14mm joint and place the MV in top.
Add a bit of pressure to form a seal and rip that sucker!
This is my fave way to use the MV and it gets me super baked with crazy vapor!

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have just had a quick go with more success! Switched to the plastic mouthpiece but rather than attaching the basket and lid to the silicone - I just put the lid in it and let the basket sit in the chamber with a view it would add some more conduction - seemed to have done the trick.

I made an all glass vape path by adding a MFLB glass straw mouthpiece and an Arizer 18mm female glass joint balloon attachment. You can hit through a water piece with an 18mm male attachment or dry through the glass Arizer attachment. I also let the ground herb sit in the heating chamber for 10 seconds before hitting it on the green setting. I get huge smooth tasty vapor.

Just a quick video with some low quality material to start the day off!
With good quality material, this vape is dangerous!

Has anyone else ever experienced combustion? Second draw of my second session with a cone.

So, I did a session with a cone and large basket, maybe a 1/3 of it and turned it off. Came back about an hour later and turned it on to heat at red again. Came back a min later and it was cycling thru colors and wouldn't stop, so I unplugged it. Plugged it back in and turned it on to red and let it preheat.....

Came back a few min later and found it solid red and ready, took an inverted hit using a @Ratchett 18mm silicone adapter into a little cake bong, all good. Took a second hit and it went up instantly, and I mean the entire load burnt to ash, that fast. I know that I was honking on it good, but no different than normal.

I'm letting it air out for now, but afraid to try it again. I finally got this thing going properly and I've been all over it for the last month or so until tonight. It kinda feels like the next chapter in my problems......

Has anyone had this problem or seen the lights like that?

Teflon QC with decarb rings

Red temp with decarb ring puts you into "really pushing the limits" IMO.
The previous red temp was 440 or 445 F but new red temp is 455 F.
Combustion temp is generally regarded as 450/455 F, so red is right at the limit.

Until this instance I've never heard of one combustion instance.
New green is 430 F, also very high but a few degrees of safety.
Why not try green temp with decarb ring? That should still be gonzo strong effects.

With that being said, your lights cycling thru over and over is not right so you could have a faulty unit.
Try on/off a few times to let it reboot.

I did have one miniVAP of my many, that ran a little hot and there was a factory method to adjust, like back off each temp
a few degrees.

miniVAP should never combust!

Using the decarb ring may add conductive heat, but it's not raising the temp any? It's often suggested here that the Peak Core with decarb is the same as the Glass core no? It was also suggested by Jorge after purchasing it in lieu of upgrading to glass. I can't imagine that if it were a problem, I would be the only one with it, no one else experienced it?

I agree on the lights, and the only thing that I can tie to it is the fact that my original power pack or cord end was flaky. But the delay in appearance doesn't add up.

I let it sit unplugged until tonight, also tried turning it on unplugged, sometimes that helps discharge any capacitance left, maybe that's old technology :myday:

It heated up to red fine without the cap on, so I added the cap and blew some are thru it. Other than the faint acrid smell, no electronic smell, so felt better. Pulled thru water to push the heater and seamed fine.....

So we loaded her back up and started slow, she seems fine!

The only thing I can come up with is that while grinding this weekend, I loaded a few cones at the same time, and it's possible I was testing my new Rio and loaded one really tight? If it weren't for the lights, I would have written this off as a foolish stoner moment.

Next time the lights are funny, I unplug and walk away for a bit lol!

Has anyone opened a battery pack up? Mine died while sitting without a charge, or at least they've fallen below a voltage that will allow it to be charged. It disassembles pretty easily, but I was a scardy cat to cut the wrap :uhh:

Now that this is my home go to, I would really like to try the battery and this thing on the go! I was so infatuated with the idea the other night that I almost bought a new QGC kit thinking it would get me one working battery so that I could send in mine for repair! (don't ask why I wouldn't just buy a battery or send this one in, it's a logical question that I can only answer with illogical nonsense I've convinced myself of because I believe another MV is in my future)

..........................................................................................
since the new red temp is 455 F and there can be a minor variance, the decarb ring can play a part in your combustion occurrence. 451 F seems to be the most common figure given for combustion.
The decarb ring can get you to 455 (with some variance) and hold you there longer, just past the combustion level.

The miniVAP "program" is setup for convection, whereby the airstream at the heater is setup to heat air to 550 F (a guess)
so that it reaches the chamber at 455 on red. A decarb ring can alter this ratio, where the heated air does not cool as much so runs hotter. That cooling over distance traveled is impacted by the decarb ring.

Remember that a joint roach is burning at up to 1000F and it has a distance of 1" to your mouth and temps above 140 F will scald your mouth SO heated air cools down over a very short distance. That drastic temp drop is factored into the temp program and a decarb ring alters that relationship.

No matter how I try and phrase this, it seems direct so I'll just say it.... How much of that above is just speculation on your part? I agree with it all in theory, but haven't heard or read it before, is there a source we can reference?

The designer himself made the suggestion, I feel fairly safe following his recommendation.

I’d treat it like a one time event and carry on. If it happens again, combustion or the lights, I’d open a ticket with Hermès. Neither should happen, so feel free to start a ticket now, if you’d rather.

Thanks Sticks, I used it last night without incident. The combustion I'm chalking up to a poorly packed cone. The lights baffle me, but didn't return, so I was already down the path you suggested.

Just checking back in here. No further issues of any sort, I'm chalking it up to user error, or unique combination of circumstances.....l

I have been absolutely loving this thing with the cone + and a Vapexhale Nebula mouthpiece on the end.

Black_Nebula_Lifestyle.png

No water needed, no flavor loss beyond the silicone which seems acceptable. Very comfortable vapor at any temperature.

I've also used it with a 20" section of tubing to both a glass adapter and again this mouthpiece with great success.

For me, convenience is always a large driving factor in what I reach for. Getting in a good rhythm of loading, prepping, cleaning, ect. makes is so much easier with my lifestyle and habits. My recent accessories order has made all of this fall into place, but in hindsight I wish I had loaded up on cone + and small baskets in lieu of the cones and large baskets. Now I'm set if my usages change.

By the way, cleaning is almost nothing with daily, fairly heavy usage, what a bonus!

Kinda thinking a GQC on green with a good heat soak might be perfect....

Off to find more silicone hosing in bulk so I can rotate and keep flavors at a premium.

Anyone else find the MV screen is the most maintenance-free screen of any vape they have ever used???

I've had mine in service for years and never have had to clean the screen- no matter how sticky the material. Fucking magical!
Yes and I've owned most of the major ones worth owning. Say the same thing every day only thing that does gets gunky is the flexicone.
Idk last time I cleaned and doesn't smell funky or taste off at all. It's been a year and I love the MiniVap more than my Mighty, Crafty , MV1, Solo, firefly 2 and Evo and EQ. The Minivap has the best extraction to flavor ratio. Plus I rarely have to clean. Sticks was not playing when he was like hold off before buying lots of replacement parts I'm still on same screen lol. I use the water adapter and a long wand dry and its smooth, flavorful , and potent. Bought my quick peek teflon during Halloween sale if same happens again I'm grabbing the Glass peek can't wait definitely a fan for sure.

I have now had my minivap for a couple of months and am through the honeymoon period! Still really pleased with it, found my preferred option is too load direct or load a basket and let it rest in the chamber. I prefer the purple setting sometimes green as tend to keep under 200 c as in theory is healthier but not sure it makes that much difference. Battery life is awesome, really easy to use, good quality vapor and feels really well made - no regrets and it has become my go to vape. Would like to get the water adapter as running this through water could be amazing. Will be firing it up shortly with some mephisto Skywalker and a sprinkling of kief and a bottle of hophouse - perfect saturday night.
