Always a good idea to order a spare, I have both 14 & 18mm glass bowls, both from NV.

Yes, it’s way easier to combust with a glass bowl than a Ti bowl.
As I said before, you need to be more careful with a glass bowl, some precautions...
-like not heat soaking for too long...
-or forgetting the FP head, on the bowl for too long...
-or loading too much....
-or not keeping the glass, or added screen, clean enough....
-temps close to the 700Fs are another risk...
-draw speed is another factor....

This is all exactly the same precautions as any other FP head.

I used a glass bowl for a long time and didnt find the glass bowl any more prone to combustion than any other bowl.

Agree. I thought I heard that wrong. Ive never combusted in glass either. I think that glass takes much longer to take on heat. Just dont see how it would happen unless ur letting the head sit there a long time like a very long time. Well beyond heatsoak

And I can teach you too @emmdeemo

I can show you and teach you, how to combust in a glass bowl, but it’s just not in the best interest for anyone, but we can clearly discuss this topic, at my own turf, my own livestream, if you’re inclined to cordially accept my invite, to follow me, at my IG.

Many people have never combusted with several vapes, but since, I like to push the limits to my vapes and vaping, I always take one for the team, and push the envelope in testing and else.

I like to run all my NV FPs at 666F, except D-Cup at 555F, and I assist myself with the use of carb caps, for extra kick and extra limits pushing.
To each their own.
Stay vaped.

By the way, glass do heats up faster than titanium, that’s physics.

-EDIT-
Oops

My mistake, some web searching shows “quartz as faster heating/cooling than Ti.”
But maybe I’m doing the wrong search, or wrong thing, who knows, only the experts here can guide me.
But I still insist it’s easier for “me” to “make it combust if I want, with the glass bowl, (don’t know quality of NV glass bowls).
Sorry guys!!!!
I didn’t want to step on the experts toes, my apologies indeed.

My point was/is still the same, it’s easier to combust in a glass bowl, don’t really know why, but it happens.
Explain me...

@Coustu
Here are some videos to prove my words, because I like to back it up with action, too much talking, and not much action, so boring....

Hey guys, for those of you with the glass bowl, do you feel it was a good purchase? Just got a new glass piece and I’m debating if I should get another shovelhead for it or a glass bowl. Looks like they’re now offering a ss screen to fit the GB, does this keep material from passing thru much better than the glass screen? Does the glass handle get too hot to touch? Wondering how it feels without insulated handle?
A lot of people like the glass bowls very much.

I have two...I went back to my Ti Shovelhead. Just thought I got better extraction but I can't prove it.

By the way, glass do heats up faster than titanium, that’s physics.

Borosilicate glass thermal conductivity = 1.2 to 1.4 w/mk

Ti thermal conductivity, depending on the alloy, is about 19 to 24 w/mk

EDIT: corrected the Ti conductivity figure....badly fat fingered it OG.

Ti heats up and cools off MUCH faster than glass.

With that said, I have never combusted with either Ti or glass bowl, but I'm sure somebody can do it if they are persistent enough.

I dont need to be taught how combustions works

I've been here since page 25, testing the FP line. I shall continue to stay here and report my findings and help people instead of just trying to advertise my IG page.

I really like the glass bowl without a metal screen. I just try and grind not as fine for the glass. I love how the flower tastes without that screen.
In a blind flower taste test, you really think you can taste that screen??
The hottest material in the vapor path is an almost red hot chunk of titanium that the air we all inhale goes through and no one can taste that but some can taste a Ti bowl or screen? The air that hits that screen is cooler then the Ti the air comes from. I’m sure some will explain why and I’m all ears. I’m just glad my taste buds are not as sensitive.

No one is declaring expertise. I only see people posting their experiences. Thanks tho, I'll take the compliment graciously.

Yes, it is easier to combust in something you are actively trying to combust in.

Hey @Gigsabits53 that’s a good idea, wish I’d have come up with it! I’ve got one glass bowl with the tiny holes (w/no screen) and another with just two bars, using the beemer Ti screen that NV sells in it. These screens have a pretty loose single weave and they fit perfectly in that particular glass bowl.
Now, thanks to your big brain, I’m gonna play around with the grind and see if I can ditch the screen!

Thankfully I have the BCG with its three plates so I won’t have to use my own judgement. :D Really like its fine plate and that’s been my VRod go-to grind, and will continue to be for the Pan- and Shovelhead bowls with double weaves. When I got the glass bowls, it never even occurred to me to switch up my grind game!

The power of the WeedEater with a glass bowl!!!

The magic vape lighter!!!

Very good flavor, uncapped, at 666F....
I’m using a Ti screen, on top of the native glass screen, flavor seems the same.

Mix of strains....
Dutch Treat bottom...
SleeStack top...
Dense vapor.

Stay vaped!!!
Mantente de la mente!!!

You know, it could be a placebo effect type thing I guess. I love the taste from my Solo II, and I could be associating the NV glass bowl with the Arizer stems. I dont use a metal screen for either. Also, I can tell my buddy, "hey try that glass bowl, amazing taste", and they always agree.:D Having said all that, I think the shovelhead bowl is great too! Actually I probably use it more because I like to grind fine and the shovelhead is fantastic for that.

Has anyone noticed if you take a universal ti nail w the 10 14 18 adapter that screws off and pur a screen in it it works as a bowl for the showerhead in a pinch. I'll try to post a pic later. I was playing around and just noticed it fit nicely

Hey guys, haven't been on here much and I have a ton to catch up on (last read was pg 571 of this thread). I was wondering if others have issues with the heater cable being "unruly" and difficult to manage, and if so how you have managed it. In my case, the cord's weight/mass can make the entire heater swivel, and when combined with the length (and weight?) of the arm;I haven't changed the hemp-wrapping or messed around with that but would consider doing so if it makes a difference. It can also really imbalance smaller rigs, or those without wide bases, and I've broken a few as a result by being slightly careless.

I've tried different configurations. My glasspiece is on a coffee table, and I've had the PID and heater adjacent to it, have run the cable from the back of the table to act as a counterweight...no good. Getting the PID sufficiently high (heh) above the bowl such that the cable doesn't tug down works well but is extremely impractical in my room where I do most of my vaping.

I may try to find some bigass bong or something that is too heavy or wide to tip over, but I also want to relieve the stress/weight on the dropdowns/reclaim catchers I use.

I'm abroad right now but can take pics to illustrate what I mean in a few days when I get back and hug my FP after a (very pleasant) 2 week t-break

I'm pretty use that most coil cables are sheathed in Kevlar....not hemp?????

And, I do indeed dislike the cheap quality insulators that make these cables take and keep a set and won't let them lay out flat. They just aren't supple enough. This is both D-nail and DHGate coils.

However, I do find @710Coils at 710coils.com to have excellent coils with cables that will actually lay out flat. Might want to take a look.

But yes, I agree....the cables on these hot runner style coils absolutely suck.

Maybe a coil clip kit is what you need?
@710Coils can hook ya up and has the best looking Kevlar

Thanks, I'll take a look! The hemp-wrapped handle is what I am referring to, that which covers the handle of the heating element. That is particularly heavy due to the metal.

The cable is another issue, but from pictures I don't see 710coils being any better. I'll look for some videos that may show how supple or tense they are. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Clip kit doesn't seem relevant to my use, unfortunately, as I'm using a VROD.

Ah...now I understand. Yeah, I do like the handle but yeah, it does add weight and particularly when coupled with a Ti Banger like a Liger or NV FP/DCup type product.

I did see some folks make handles out of wood or leather and I assume that they will be much lighter.

Well, IME they are very much more supple and manageable than D-nail or Greenlight cables.

@710Coils - any comments on how your coil's cables are different than the masses...eg more supple, etc.

This brush is excellent at cleaning screens, especially the dual weave. It also makes a great stir stick. It’s actually made to wrap coils different sizes, see the different shaft sizes. I drilled extra holes in my pid stand and base stand to hold a pick or two.

I was all about that NV handle at first, thought of it as a necessity to the entire set-up. But next coil I get won't have it. I'm all about keeping it as light as I can now, cause it is can be a bit heavy w/ the vrod head and create a balance issue with smaller rigs.

My friend doesn't have it and it didn't feel too hot grabbing that little bump where the Kevlar wrap ends. If anything, I'd just add something small there. I only use my thumb and one other finger to grip it...or maybe one additional finger for stability if I just took a huge hit!

That’s exactly what I said to myself when I ordered my WE and coil after already owning and using a Vrod with handle regularly. A week later I ordered the handle, lol(and had to install it myself).
