Puffco Peak

Looks like the same insert that rubypearlco has for $20

They're also on DHGate.

American vs Chinese.

I actually have a DHGate one on the way. I'll do some side-by-side but I can guarantee the American made one will be better. I also feel like a Chinese one would have shattered, with how I dropped it on my tile floor. The American made one just bounced.

Ive had an eternal quartz insert (not opaque) and i honestly find no difference in the quality between it and the rubypearlco insert. I also have not been delicate with it. ive torched it clean, immediately cooled it under running water, dropped it while hot onto a hard floor and it still looks brand new and works great.

After dealing with eternal quartz a few times i would never give them my money again

I got jerked around a bit too.

I'll update when I get the Chinese one and see how it fares. I wasn't really happy or excited to spend $90 (or whatever it was with the 20% discount) but I have had nothing but great experiences with it.

Maybe the fitted, Chinese ones are good and I might just be a sucker lol.

So whats the difference between a v1, v2, and v3 puffco peak? Do the black ones get updated too? or are the v3s only the newer colors? havent found much info on the differences. can a v1 peak turn into a v3 by just swapping the atomizers or is there other differences? please explain im lost lol

Yep! Only difference is the atomizers - I personally haven't even tried a V1 or a V3 - All I have is a V2s and they work fine.

The V3 just has more safeguards built in to prevent spillover getting onto the heating element/threading, and other silly potential accidental breakage hazards.

This explains it well enough.

The V2s are robust enough to last a good long time if you have proper technique.

Does anyone have experience with Mr. Bonsai's quarts inserts for Peak? He also has a ruby one that caught my eye... But price is very low so I am a little hesitant lol. I just got the peak and It's decent, definitely feel like upgrading the ceramic to something else will improve my experience.

I need to look to see which one I have. It was purchased in March.

Any idea when the v3 came out? Is it relatively new? I might be able to get a good deal on a v2. Thanks for the help btw!

V3 came out maybe March? Not sure. Early this spring.

First recommendation I will make for improved performance is definitely the rebuilt atomizers from Puffcoil.

I use a thin bottom, fitted opaque quartz insert from EQ but not sure if it's worth the dough compared to other buckets, but I rock blue/green and get awesome hits. White is insane hot on my Peak, and for my preferences. Red only if I'm doing big fat dabs.

I also found that upgraded ceramic base from Puffcoil to be worthwhile if you want hotter temps. This particular atomizer I have with full puffcoil rebuild hits notably hotter than any of my others.

The Peak I have was purchased in March, according to the previous owner. Hopefully mine is V3.

@Vicki here is a link to a pic of the three versions of the peak atomizer

I have not heard anything about the bases being updated and it is just the atomizers they updated. The update was mainly to keep the concentrates from going down into the thread portion of the base. Other than that, they are the same as the V2 version

Hope this helps and if you buy atomizers directly from puffco, you will get sent the v3 versions

There have been minor revisions to the base. I got a new base recently as a warranty replacement and the button presses slightly different and the silicone or rubber has a grippy texture on it. May have been more from the initial as I didn't buy mine right when it came out.

@weenstoned is correct there have been a few models of the base, but they are functionally identical so you won't be missing out on anything by getting an older one.

The newer models have an open plastic base underneath the metal plate, presumably to not trap any spilled liquid inside like the first revisions which were completely sealed.

Newer versions have foam tape around the vibration motor to prevent the wires from breaking so easily, and the front push button has a rubber foam surround to give it a little more feedback.

The electronics have slightly changed but nothing major, I presume just a normal parts adjustment for cost reduction or ease of manufacturing.

Thank you! I’ll save that and take a look next time I clean it.

My vibration motor just died, but I’m ok with it. It still heats up properly, and the lights work. I think it’s actually helping the battery last longer.

It's an easy fix - Puffcoil Repair has a video detailing how to do it on his instagram. He also sells a replacement motor. I didn't mind too badly when my vibration motor died - but I did want to take advantage of the warranty while I had it... Also figured it'd be a good opportunity to see if all the vitriol I read about Puffco's CS was true too... (turns out it's really not)

Anyway - Did anyone get the Peak Bag or Travel Glass? How are you liking them??

I just received the bag today. Definitely a big fan of it and will be using it a lot. Going to get the Travel Glass soon here - kinda waiting to see if any local shops will be getting them.

I got this Peak in a trade. The original owner says it was purchased in March, but I don’t have a receipt. He said he had only used it a handful of times, and I’ve only used it a month. I have to say for a $400 machine, it sure does crap out fast.

As long as it heats up properly, and the lights still work, I’m ok.

I'm assuming yours was built before the update was made to the wires/vibration motor as described by @maxvapor710 - Still not bad. My buddy bought his off ebay so no valid warranty and he's been fine. He's done all repairs himself (though I think the only thing that has broke on his was the charging port - which was apparently easily fixed)

I guess I can double post? Anyway, got the travel glass. Kinda had to after getting the bag. It's just too convenient...

Travel glass holds more water and chugs a bit more due to natural added draw restriction due to how the locking system works. It also has a built in splash guard which is extremely nice.

I got a china insert to compare to my EQ one... It's just bad. It feels much lighter, looks off, and as you can see in the second picture, they fucked up attaching the opaque or something, and there's a spec of opaque in the bottom of the hourglass. lol. I feel much better I spent the money, especially considering the performance I get.

Have an AlN coming mid October. Hope it isn't ass?

Also - I really like these magnetic charge adapters for the Peak, after seeing my buddy had damaged his charging port. I just keep the plug in the Peak always. Barely increases the form , and reduces the wear on the port.

Yeah that insert looks horrible, looks like they messed up the splash guard part too... If your going to get a china insert id recommend going through rubypearlco

@muunch did you get the travel glass attachment and if so what do you think

I've had it for just over a week now - posted some videos in this thread too.

I actually sold off my Biao recycler (and am selling my Biao sake bottle) because the travel glass+bag makes this device much better for me. I can easily bring it around in my car and etc.

Besides that, the travel glass is a very tight fit in the base itself (my friend noted the same of his medusa glass and travel glass too) and has a very solid feel.

It fits a bit more water. Has the same perc, but it's a bit chuggier due to the draw resistance added from how the locking system works. It also has a built in splash guard, which is really nice.

It's my daily piece now. I wish it was cheaper, and they should probably just make this the stock glass now, but it's very good imo (also makes cleaning easier)

That’s way too much water.

Eh, there's a splash-guard built in to the travel glass.

Plus it naturally holds more water.

You should try one.

I did not get any water in my mouth as you can see.

I was always told not to only fill just above the holes. I don’t have the travel case.
