Let me start by letting you know I'm happy to have another vendor putting out a product related to cannabis. The free market is amazing. That being said:

Are you crazy?

I'm sure you've read the news of late and have found it is almost assuredly at least partially related to some sort of additives in the juice. What is in "Sweeterps"? Not kinda about, but, exactly. Now for the hard part, are all those things safe to vape?

I hope to God you are not a startup and have a big pile of cash to sit on while this crisis abates. If you are a startup, market timing is going to be R-E-A-L tough.

Hi OldNewbie,

I just want to start by saying is that our products (terpenes) are not in the news and are not what is being debated. I believe what you, and others, are worried about is the additives or products used to cut/dilute the carts. Our products are strictly terpenes which are used to add flavor and "mimic" the characteristics of the strain. Thanks and stay safe!

I did not allege YOUR stuff is in the news. But, SIMILAR stuff is in the news.

I do note, however, you did not put up a complete listing of ingredients nor did you mention how they are safe to vape.

Not that you can. The science is not settled on what has caused the current problem--let alone what might cause the next. While there are some out there that like extra terpenes in their mix, that does not make vaping them safe.

At least you're admitting a permitted use is putting it in carts. Some of the others with dilluents/mixers sold to the community now claim it was solely for putting in ointments and the like and not to be vaped.

Just curious ... but where can we find evidence of the certification of your products? Is the certification on the packaging? On your web site?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this should be here or in the megathread, but, it seems the first thing the government is going to do is ban all flavorings other than tobbacco flavoring on ecigs.

I know we haven't seen the law as yet (So, can't be sure.), but, why would Sweeterps not be in violation of the ban? (For instance one specific thing talked about being banned is menthol; which is listed as a monocyclic terpene alcohol. Does Sweeterps have any such chemicals in it?)

By the by, thanks for letting us know what Sweeterps does not contain. What does it contain? What are the rigorous standard set by the Tobacco 599 regulations? (I'm really good at looking stuff up, especially regulation and law stuff. If you have some guidance as to what you're talking about it would be appreciated. My best guess was at https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-i...true&tpl=/ecfrbrowse/Title21/21CIsubchapE.tpl but, that's clearly wrong. Maybe you're talking about the 599 [not GRAS] items *allowed* in cigarettes?)

Finally, where can I find a list of chemicals on the "GRAS, food grade and are considered safe for inhalation"? I can find GRAS for eating and consumption, but inhalation?

Been working with US tobacco regs since 2012. Don't recall any "Tobacco 599 regulations", so also curious as to what you're referring.

The standard of the Family Smoking Protection and Tobacco Control Act is indeed high - new tobacco products must be "appropriate for the protection of the public health". In fact, the standard is so high that so far, only two products have met it and gained market approval. One of these is inhalable, but no one claims it's "safe", just less risky than cigarettes.

This gets at an interesting point. FDA has defined "tobacco product" very broadly to include components of products. So, e-liquids are tobacco products, components of e-cigarettes. But what about 0% nicotine e-liquid? If you fill your device with it, it's still not a tobacco product. Can FDA ban it (or the device)? For that matter, what about nicotine that's not derived from tobacco? When FDA finally gets around to regulating these products, it will face many difficult questions.

Let me try another way.

Would your product be able to be legally used in a cannabis-regulated state as an ingredient in a cartridge made by a licensed manufacturer?

Which state(s)?

@OldNewbie What did you do?! They kinda replied to your first post but since they’ve opted to go full marketing monologue! I’m sure this hasn’t escaped you, but after that everything from @Sweeterps seems disingenuous and spammy; their posts aren’t responding to questions in any meaningful way or have informational purpose beyond “awesome flavours”. It’s just advertising malarkey. That’s right, I used the “M” word!

This stuff ^ might work at Reddit, but around here, we’ve got a @invertedisdead so there!

Terp companies are dead. True Terpenes and Drew Jones killed them all in one fell swoop. LOL

Mineral oil being sold by True Terpenes as Viscosity and Drew selling his "special blend" vitamin E acetate pretty much killed the terp business (at least for a while). No one trusts anyone any more (with good reason). One of the terpene companies at Future4200 did a "Full Disclosure" of their ingredients to prove to everyone how great they were. A couple months later, it was discovered that their "Full Disclosure" was all bull shit.

I hate to say it but without strict regulation terp companies are going to lie cheat and steal to make money. Like all humans. I know I don't have to worry about poison when I drink a Budweiser or a shot of Seagrams.

No offense or personal shots/accusations at the OP.
