Oh ok, didn't know that.. Thanks :)

Btw is it ok if I heat up my device 3 times before actually using it? I figured out it gives me more clouds

Are the coils for the Square proprietary? Is it something one could DIY so to speak? Also does the firmware upgrade apply just to the Pro model or the base model as well?

I don't see why someone couldn't measure a good working coil resistance and wrap their own to match. It might take some work, but it's done in the mod game all the time. If you can bend the right filament to match, yes, you could DIY.

I have the Pro version, and my base model memory is a little fuzzy, but I think one of the upgraded features on the Pro was the port that could both charge and transfer data for upgrades? It sounds right in my head

Thanks @MonkeyTime for the info. I bought a new open box unit and it is supposed to arrive this week. I paid very little for it and simply want to play around with it to see what all the hype was about. I won’t know if it is a Pro version until it gets here but once it does I’m sure I’ll be back with more questions...

Hi there, so I found a deal, where the square pro is 79 bucks. Is it recomendable to go for it? Searchin for an vacatiom vape right now, since I allready got a mighty as my daily driver but dont want to take it everywhere (am afraid to lose/break it on a bike tour for example).
Heard of some problems with em, what are those/are they like more a bad luck thing or redundant with the most units?

Tried a dyna recently but am not really sold to the unit (i go on Festivals/into clubs alot and u dont hear nor feel the click with a little grain of bass in there), the ambit sounds cool, but researched a little and read a lot about charring/combustion so is the square really that bad? :D or is the ambit (if maybee used right) that good?

Ambit is not that bad. I never had those issues. I owned both. The Square is great when it works. But it is unreliable at times. When you go for a session it may not be rewarding with it. Keep that in mind. Results are not always consistent. But when mine worked, I loved the damn thing.

Oh, that does not sound gucci, how are those inconsistencies? Are they like with the firefly 2 (a buddy has one of those) where u have to stir it (or bump up the heat) and then it's good again or is it like when it doesnt work it really does not?
Thank u very much btw for all the quick replys, you are awesome :D

I think everyone had their own issues in this thread. Short story is this vape wasn't quite ready for market. I was clearly rushed to create a revenue stream for a sinking business.

Some common issues.

• Faulty Seals on the unit
• Faulty Seals in the mouthpiece
• Faulty Batteries
• Buggy Software that caused damage to units ( battery over charging )
• Buggy Software that prevented units from charging at all
• Coils warping creating uneven hot spots and combustion
• Combustion
• Paint ( whatever coating they used ) Flaking off around the air paths and locking mechanism

If you had access to coils and batteries I would say go it! At that price it's quite the novel heavy hitter.

When the stars align and the square works right it's a real treat! Hits noticeably harder than the mighty and about twice as smooth with a wallop of tasty flavour.

Thank you very much for the writeup, very informative, sounds... Intriguing and scary at the same time (especially since I am/was really tempted cuz the two chamber haze, a friend of mine has, was the one, that really got me into vaping back in the days) :D
Are those Problems getting visible in the first few weeks (that way i could use the 14 days send back time till i get a good unit) or is this more like an long time users thing?
For coils I know a really good coil winder (more the e cig dude bud he surely, can do it) and read a few pages ago, that this should work and the company selling them for this price also has some batterys left in stock, so i could just get one of those. Ive also seen a software patch floating around here somewhere, is this one still buggy or does it fix things?

With the flaking paint that sounds scary af, since i got some equpiment, could I just file it out and give it a vacum clean or is it like really hard to get off or dangerous for the unit?

The flaking paint seemed to happen around the air path and not actually in it. The concerning part is how Haze handled the issue. They just tried to stuff it off like we were all a being too picky.

Other issues like:

• Faulty Seals ( this effect the first run of units and should be 100% resolved)
• Mouthpiece seals some where too narrow and would leak air or fall out and break. Some where too thick and would get jammed din the holder. ( no time limit ) I swapped mine for VapCap o-rings and problem solved.
• Faulty batteries ( I think mist failures were a result of software, but don't quote me )
• updated Software , yes I posted a download few pages back
• Coils warping ( it's usually from excessive heat, glowing too much, mine came warped sometimes I made it better sometimes worse ) I'm not too shabby with e-cig style coils but this one would be tricky to get just right.
• Combustion ( this seemed like it was a mixture of some had software bug and others warped coils creating hot spots )

Hope that helps

Well well, so I guess I let that deal in the shelf, thanks again for all the help/warnings/recomendations, you got a very great community here! A friend of mine asked me today, if I want his allmost unused Lotus for 40 bucks (he wants to get an electric one for little money, shown him the ambit, he goes for it, ty for the tip!) so I guess I'll give butane a shot :D Stay chill!

I dig my ambit, beta unit and no issues. It is certainly capable of charring if your temp is set too high. Simply adjust down degree by degree and fine tune to your liking. I've not changed my temp button in months

You'll use it until the coil craps out and then you'll be stuck with a paperweight
That's sucks... I will get one from a friend who used it only a dozen of times... how much time can I expect the coil to last? why is it so difficult to replace even since Haze company is out of business, it's just a coil isn't it?

I was close to beta test this one by the past but finally wasn't kept on the list cause my location although I was still very curious about it and cannot resited to a friend's lowball offer (a handfull of my weed for his Square), I think he didn't know anything about vapes and bought it as an impulse and finally didn't used it at all... I offered him another easier vape for beginner but he prefered more flowers to combust... sadly.

They're not coils like a 510 unit.

I don't remember how long the coils should last but I thought Haze said a couple months? Seriously have no idea though but it's been gone through here I'd imagine. Check haze's post history I bet it's in there

Ok finally my friend unit wasn't working anymore since he let it to sit with depleted battery for months... he was so sorry he offered me to pay me another one, finally we paid another new one together and ordered a brand new unit on Vaposhop for 79€... I'll let you know what I'm thinking about that Square.

Sounds like throwing food money at a bad hand...

I love my square, but with short coil life, no parts availability, and with the company out of business, I could never justify a new purchase. I strongly recommend you check out the ambit for your next purchase in that price range.

I don't know why people are so surprised, when this unit worked well (as mine did) it was extremely effective and there is nothing else like it... Four bowls ready to go with on demand temp-controlled convection, very unique.

Yes without company support there are risks, while there were broad issues with the design and certain defective units, but again I still think nothing else can quite compare personally.

Firefly and Aero to some degree, but the Firewood 5 seemed like the closest thing perhaps (though he's already on FW6 now?)
