Budget solutions to make rosin.

Vape swap shop
With all this talk about teens dying from vaping carts, i am starting to wonder whats in my extract. I live in the UK and by only way to get extract is from randoms on the internet. I am starting to think making my own rosin might be the solution.

I want something small (i dont have room for a massive press) and i dont want to spend a lot. However i want something better than the hair straitener method.

Maybe something like this:

Anyone have any experiance? Or make other suggestions. How well do these things work?

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.

Around $125 american for an ebay rosin press, and no reviews listed.

My gut says you'll then need to add that loss to the price of a decent press later. :2c:

+1 on the slug33. They at least they have a good track record and customer service.

Cause if you save on a cheap device but you get shitty yields from your good weed, you really losing money every time you try to press.

Also, if you're worried about what's in vape cartridges, please know that you can't realistically use rosin in a vape cartridge.

IMO, if you don't spend the money on a decent press (look at Dabpress.com) you might as well use a hair straightener. The least expensive Dabpress unit is only $189 for plates and a PID (if you have a shop press) or $369 for an all in one unit.

A hair straightener is about 40 bux new and about 5 bux at Goodwill or a garage sale.

All these T-shirt presses and mini presses and all that crap is exactly what BabyFace said... add that loss to the cost of a decent press.

Enjoy.

Do not mess with that one you link too. I have their other budget offering...which is probably the best bang for the buck right now. DEVILPRESS.CO.UK dulytek M800

This looks industrial tough and simple. If I was going to try rosin, this looks solid and not flimsy, like it will actually work well.

The slug 33 looks super simple and great too

Yeah, Slug.33 is a solid personal size budget press. It's completely manual though, so it takes practice to get it right. So read the whole Slugg.33 thread and watch a lot of instructional videos. But once you get it, it works great.

That being said, I have a Slug.33, and I still want a Dabpress...which I shall have one day, once I've pushed myself to save up the $500

When I was looking for a press I checked out the slug in detail too. The thing with the slug is that it is not "plug and play", at least in the beginning. There is technique and skill needed which takes practice (and some supply of weed) before you get it down. Some people break through that learning period and emerge happy, while others don't. I have never been good with a torch with any device and after you buy the slug, a good torch, a good pivoting vise and any other incidentals, you already in for close to $200 (at least from my estimation). Still much better than that other shit you were looking at on ebay. The slug guy has a following and provides very good customer service.

Now a dabpress is more than you said you wanted to spend. For the all in one models, which are small and don't use a massive H frame press, their base model is around $370. I think sometimes a bit lower if they have a sale or promotion going. However, IMHO, this is plug and play and your savings will come in the yields you will get from your pressed herb and lack of frustration. Of course, there is some skill in everything, and your technique will improve even with a dabpress, but you will undoubtably get :clap:amounts of rosin even on your first press.

Their rep is very active here on the FC. Consider PM'ing @psychonaut and asking questions and what deals he has going.

I have tried cheaper ways of making concentrates, from hair pressers to QWISO methods to dry ice sifting and let me tell you, there ain't nothing more :rant:than ending up with shit after wasting good quality weed.

Thanks for the replies and advice all.

I think i will go for the slug 33. Started looking in to it now.

I'm sure this has been thought of, but get a laser thermometer. Calibrate to stainless steel. Then I bet you'll get a somewhat accurate temp and/or an incorrect temp but consistent point of reference to go by, if u get what i mean...
