So true, I meant to say that on one piece of mine that has a larger volume, I’ll bump it up depending on my mood, water or not, etc. In my experience most things in life are highly dependent upon the etc. factor.

Yeah, screw the X factor, its all about the ETC factor.

Nuance! :)

I use a spare insulated bowl handle as my cap handle and even with a heat soak of an hour + I can still grab it where the silicone is and not get burnt. But if my fingers touch the tiny bit of metal that sticks out the end of the insulation it will burn me. My cap handle is setup vertically though.

I love using a heat soaked carb cap with my showerhead for flower, havent really tried the heat soaked bowl but maybe I'll experiment soon. :science:

I also appreciate how flexible these devices are and enjoy hearing everyone's techniques. For my showerhead I have settled at 685, with a carb cap i leave on and max draw speed so the bowl pressure drops. Closest thing I've had to a dab of flower.

For my Vrod I have settled at 650 for now, down from 680. Still exclusively doing double deckers, I may venture lower again because it does make me cough quite a bit. When doing flower only with the vrod I do prefer a heat soaked carb cap and terp pearls, I find they make it so I dont have to stir during full bowls as much.

I bought a couple double weaves but barely use them, I'm not a fan of the added resistance. This does mean I need to clean out my drop downs more often though for sure.

Hope everyone is enjoying their September so far!

Do you use a carb cap on your vrod? I've been reading about those and am considering it but honestly I'm enjoying the WE as is.
On another note with this being TI I've been considering the simple diy anodizeding method with 3 batteries to get a nice blue color. Seems like a fun project but a bit of work including acquiring some ti wiring and small clamp connectors.
I'm using the original ShowerHead, which proceeded the VRod. As to carb caps, occasionaly I do use mine at the end of the bowl to make sure it's toast. LOL. The the temperatures I am running its really not necessary.

Not sure why you want to anodize your VRod as it will acquire it's own unique and custom patina over time, regardless I hope you post up if you go that route.

Where do you buy extras? The double weaves were the only screens I could find that were .78" which is what I thought the shovelhead bowl needed.

thats the one that came with the VRod, part number is 9231 on the newvape website. i find them exellent, they dont deform when you push them in the bowl same satisfiing click, these are the one ive settled after testing both

edit 1:just saw you got a shovelhead, mmmm there are the one, 9375, that are 5/8 diameter.... not sure witch goes on what.... could ask the newvape support

edit 2 : pretty sure everywhere i read that the shovelhead and panhead bowl only have cosmetic difference id go for the 9231, the other one im pretty sure they are for the glass bowl

My WE is starting to show some character

How long have you had your WE now? What temps do you run on your pid? Very nice!!!!

I really like how a deep blue looks. I've scoured pics to see if any fp pics have that uniform blue and I haven't yet. Also I like fun tinkering projects that are simple enough or I feel comfortable enough to do. This is one of them.

Yeah, the heat is not distributed evenly though the head, so just leaving it on will eventually get you color, but it will not get you *uniform* color. You’ll have to do that yourself, and it will still change over time.

If you want something more different, check out the anodized Titanium VapCaps that are out there.

What temp is this at, and can you comfortably hold it, or just not get burnt? I'm at 625 and tried it again and it's still too hot to comfortably hold even after 10 minutes. With the wood handle you can comfortably handle it no matter what. Big difference in that vs just not getting burnt.

That silicone is only rated to 400f or something as well.

I just don't understand spending so much on the setup to cut corners. The wood insulated handle is a work of art. To each their own.

The new wood carb cap and and hemp wrapped aluminium coil handle are must haves for me.

the wooden handle was not always in theyr lineup, the for the veteran out there, they probably bought these when there was no alternative, and the flowerpot threaded shovel come with the same silicone handle, and is made to be fixed on the carb cap... now we only have a better alternative...

Exactly this - when I bought my setups there were no wooden handles offered.

For me personally New Vapes 13.50$ flat shipping rate no matter the size or weight of the package is enough to make me wait for sales and until I have like 100$ worth of stuff to buy again. Buying a new 2 hole carb cap the shipping ends up like 70% of the carb caps price alone.

Temps at 650-685F, it's slightly warm but not uncomfortable in any way unless I touch the metal - which is scorching hot. TBH I was worried about the silicone too but too large of a twax hit made me forget to remove the carb cap and qtip (on more than one occassion) and coming back hours later it was all good.

I used the coil bare for a while but got a handle after a few months and it's definitely a nice thing to have but I left mine bare so it's easier to switch between my vrod and showerhead.

Edit: I actually just looked again and there is a 9$ usps option now but for me it still makes it worth it to wait for black friday/420 - it also works well that they land on opposite sides of the calendar, there isnt that long to wait.

Aye. The wooden handle is a purchase I havent gotten round too yet, but then I've been using the NV line up since the OGFP and its finally properly ingrained to take the carb cap off :)

I keep hearing y'all mentioning a wooden handle. Is that a recent release from NV as an alternative to the aluminum one with the hempwick wrap, or is it from a third-party manufacturer?

I'm considering ordering a Newvape setup, but unfortunately live in a country that they won't sell to.

Their representatives suggested I check out Vapefiend in the UK. Unfortunately it seems that they are sold out of most things at the moment. Also it looks like they carry older versions of some items such as the carb cap. Maybe they will have the updated models once they restock.

I was hoping that someone here may have a referral for another online seller with global shipping?

Thanks

You just need a friend in a country that they will sell to, to drop-ship it to and have them ship it to you.

Hi! I had the same problem (my country wasn't listed in the "shipping to" dropdown on the Newvape website) and I just sent them an email. I asked them whether they can ship to my country, and surprisingly they agreed. I suggest you try the same.

Its great how all FP's can be used in so many different ways.

I eventually settled on never needing to go over 630f with the showerhead and VRod, and got very dark brown, even ABV. It still surprises the shit out of me that the guy I gave my VRod to is down at 550 and getting results he's happy with.

I think he likes his ABV a hell of a lot lighter than most of us tho :)

Lately, I've been *delighted* at the effects of my WE at only 600, but through a small dry pipe. I inhale very very gently, can see the clouds of vapor roiling around in the pipe, and the temp is nice and low. I'm as happy or happier with the effects of this technique than with using the larger bong with water at 650-675. YMMV, but I have been playing around with this thing since February, and to-date, this very gentle, delicate technique of low temp with a dry pipe is getting me more satisfactorily baked than high temps with water. And the weed still ends up nicely browned. It's all about draw speed, IMHO.

@nodrog maybe one of them old-school glycerin coils...remember seeing them in my search for old Pyrology glass and that could be interesting for no water vaping

Glycerin coil (there are some stack-able ideas on this page looking up the "Stax" offerings!)
