Discontinued The Grasshopper

Yep hopper is fragile as fuck, I manage to get my going again but it started doing 2 sec red light to blue and no heat but felt like it was still generating tiny micron of heat so I just kept turning it on and sucking hard, I noticed the clicking of the heater is way more prominent but then finally it was like some sensor got unglogged and it started giving me full heat again

Let's see how long it hangs on because it did a similar thing earlier today
I think it’s dirty contacts in the back end.

I wonder what Hopper has to say about using a mild contact cleaner on the back end.........seemed to work for my oldest unit.

I did and do regular ISO swaps off parts and did that also now, but think the problem is alot to do with the tiny size of heater and parts in a tiny tube with bunch of holes and tiny particles going into thinks they should not be

BTW pretty fucking blasted now on the hopper :p

I mean I thoroughly doused the back end. Making sure it was sprayed in every little crack. I even held down the power button and sprayed the inside right full and then turned the dial and clicked the button a bunch. I then let it sit and dry for a few hours and it works almost perfect again. The body of that one runs a bit cool but it’s been fine otherwise.

Guys (and gals): Blu-Tac can be used on threads instead of or in addition to light ISO. I bought some while my unit has been in RMA and haven’t used it yet. It’s been mentioned a lot a ways back herein.

Agreed: when it works well, it hits hard! Wishing I’ll be there again soon. Wishing...:bang::peace:

I think the problem is deeper than just cleaning the threads. A spray contact cleaner gets inside and actually cleans the working parts of the Hopper.

I know that I said I was out of the hopper game, but here I am back with a new Ti, and 2 used Stainless.
I cancelled my 6 battery/ custom charger order about a month ago. I stopped unscrewing the backend at all.
Since I only have 1 new battery, I always charge with the usb charger. Less wear and tear on the switch connection. My Ti unit works well from 4.2-5. I only get 3 sessions (1 chamber) before the battery is flat, but it is great for the few hits that I can squeeze out. Fuck the battery shortage, if Hopper will not support their own machine and its customers, a plug in power source sounds like a great way to regain use of a hopper. It also serves as a flying FU to the maker.......It ain't that hard to do. I should have a working proto power source functioning before Oct. Happy to share the concept once it has been put through the test bed.
Love the Hopper, not so much Hopper Labs.......

Yeah that I could imagen doing if I wasn't so cheap on the ISO but maybe get a tiny oil squeeze bottle and a little tray to clean it in
Wonder if anyone here has tried cleaning hopper parts in ultra sonic cleaners?

Such a weird thing.. I had 5 hopper that did barely a chamber in one battery but now with same battery they are doing 3-4 Bowl in a charge and even with the magnetic charger

After killing 2 hoppers in a month and now half my batteries are getting weak/dead, I decided to do something different.

I bought a lathe, taught myself how to cut internal and external hopper threads, made a battery pack, a 10A quick connect and I put it all together this morning.

Behold...A grasshopper running on 4) 18650's :science: (The hopper is still 100% stock and unmodified)

That is really awesome and he should prob work for HL or at least own it and make a more reliable vape. @Joel W. come on down!

"Batteries are on track to ship out in September. Company update coming soon!"

WTF are they kidding....next month....oh, we meant the month after...no, we really will have batteries the month after that....no kidding, we plan to have some batteries before you drop dead of old age.

However, we will ship you a brand new GH within one day if you give us more money.

FFS.

Oh, then I really love this one: "Lots of new blog posts! Click here to check it out!"

And when you do you find out that LOTS OF FUCKING NEW BLOG POSTS mean last damn April. Oh, still my beating heart.

I just don't know how these guys can so consistently seem to fuck up every thing they touch. I just don't get it.

Aww man, I feel your frustration. My GH stopped working a week ago and I honestly don't care about it anymore. I've decided to not even send it in for repair. So I've got 6 batteries laying around that I won't ever use again. Bought them in September 2017 and I think they're still good. Wanna play a game? Let's see if I can get the batteries faster to you than Hopper Labs! I'm in Europe and I'd only ask for shipping cost. I just really really really don't care about this vape anymore. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Not sure if the offer was for me, but I'm USA based and have four batteries at the present....GH2's.

But, I bet there are EU based members who would jump for those batteries.

Great and generous offer.

Yeah, it was for you. I thought you had no working batteries at all. Maybe someone else? The offer still stands. 6 batteries for shipping cost only. Bitcoin would be my preferred payment method, it's easy and cheap. Is there anything to consider when mailing out batteries? First one to send me a PM gets them.

Edit: Please don't message me anymore. The deal is done.

So I went to the post office and they told me it's not possible to send out batteries from here to the USA ... I can only send 1 battery and it needs to be in the device. This is crazy. I want to do someone a favor and send out the batteries for almost free and they tell me this is not possible? WTF!

I then went to the train station which is also a DHL branch and they told me that they're not sure it's possible to send the batteries out overseas. They need to call DHL first and ask how to do it and apparantly that's not possible either on a Saturday. Again, what the fu** seriously?! I can't believe this.

That stinks! I would post a local classified ad and just avoid the hassle altogether. It may take longer but less hassle (indeed I live in the US and would’ve taken you up on your offer but you already found someone but now have the shipping issue). Good luck! :peace:

On a tangential note, I reemed HL with a nasty gram via my RMA message thread yesterday. Almost 12 months my pre-order Ti has been with them. Un-fucking-believable!

Has anyone spoken with them by phone? I requested this in my message and gave them my number since their electronic communication is scant and not terribly informative. I also threatened to cancel my battery order if they don’t respond next week - this is why I entertained the thought about @vapenerd ’s battery offer.

Happy weekend to everyone...:peace:

Anyone have a broken Hopper they have given up on and want to send it to me?
Some of my repair guys are itching to try to fix one.
I’ve almost given up on HL since they’ve had my unit for a year. It’s tempting. I’ll mull it over for a bit though. I have nothing to lose other than threatening to cancel my battery order with them thinking I’d get my unit back from RMA within a reasonable amount of time as the batteries (I have some but most are running down). HL is purely pathetic in my book as further evidenced with this latest battery supply chain issue.:peace:

This is such a problem here, I can't order anything that has more then one battery or power supply to sweden because its blacklisted for flight, literally would need to get all your batteries by boat .. Can't even get them from the UK

Cant even buy a shaver from German amazon because it has batteries
