Legality would mean scale economics take hold and it becomes less profitable for small-scale grow-ops. Sad.

fuck the growers

its all about money to them. they only care about sustaining their profits, of which are incredible. MJ is the number one cash crop in N America. they are making money hand over fist for something that every human should have the right to grow themselves. they use the black market to make themselves rich.

to the rest of us its about the truth. we care because it can do soooo much good for soooo many people in soooo many different ways.

all the growers care about is how many new cars they are gonna buy this year or what part of the world they will be vacationing in after they crop out for the last time.

as for the legal medi grow ops... im not sure exactly how that works.

Man I hope this passes, here are a couple of funny quotes I found on comments to prop 19 articles.

"Over time, when all the old coots die off, this will come to pass. Kinda like gay marriage"

"Of course Prop 19 isn't going to pass....all of the supporters are already high and way too lazy to get off of their (or their parents) couches to make it to the polls to vote"

Voted FOR! Lots of growers and dispensary owners I know will vote against it. I've personally told several that if their ass was rotting in the slammer their sentiment would be different.

I wish it were that simple. Many worked a lifetime to achieve what they they recently did and legality threatens their security.

Yes, and many others have lived our lifetimes to actually see the day that we could enjoy cannabis with no legal reprecussions.

Sure, they have worked lifetimes to be able to supply those of us who just want to enjoy it. Getting rich off of us because of the risk. I have little to no sympathy for them right about now if they want it to continue to be illegal for their monetary gain.

It isn't about sympathy, it's a matter of walking a mile in another man's moccasins. I wasn't advocating the POV, I was posing the dilemma others have expressed to me. :peace:

interesting, but it still seems kinda selfish on their part considering

there's no sympathy from me to those that are in a business who knowingly gauge people because a substance is illegal. especially when the consequences carry over to those who truly need the medicine.

all the votes haven't been counted.

so stop lying

Mod note: Was it necessary to call the OP a liar? I think not. We have zero tolerance here for that type of posting.

Not going to happen this time around, but it's a matter of when, not if. I think it would have stood a better chance in 2 years during a presidential election (better youth turnout among other things).

Yeah and maybe tweak the wording of the proposition. In the next one, marijuana should be declared not just legal, but compulsory. :ninja:

Oh well life happens. Business and politics seem to come into play here on BOTH sides of the issue. Im interested to see what approach is taken next when this comes up for decision.

Also, Im nervous of how this is going to affect the otherwise momentus we have garnered in other states. This is like 3 losses in a row (4 if AZ fails)

Not looking too good for the home team...

I am also disappointed as I think it would have set precedent for other states as well. The real change, however, needs to happen on a Federal level.

I still think prop 19 helped stir debate and raise awareness, i wasn't at all sure it was going to pass. It seems like continued progress on decriminalization and medical is the way to go, unless someone else wants to steal cali's thunder and beat them too it.

On the upside, a number of communities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts voted on "Should the state representative from this district be instructed to vote in favor of legislation that would allow patients, with their doctor's written recommendation, to possess, grow, and purchase marijuana for their personal medical use?"
Which seems to have gotten pretty solid support, so maybe we'll get medical going back on track here.

Unfortunately it seems the youth vote was much lower than anticipated, and the idea had no organizations with the funding to mount a statewide campaign. Makes you wonder if any of the inordinately wealthy celebrities and businessmen who were publicly in favor of the proposition contributed, even anonymously. Still, 1,995,510 or 55% voted against it while 1,640,842 or 45% were in favor, 45% is enough to make me optimistic for 2012.
