Yes, but there's no air displacement going on inside the bag either; hence the comparison. Filling a collapsed empty bag is not like blowing air into a house room.

Nope. No comparison to a vacuum whatsoever.

Hi @CANtalk , here's my two cents. Perhaps you are not giving enough attention to the turbulence as hotter new vapor pumping in agitates as it displaces, with further turbulence at expanding bag walls

Even without owning a bag vape, one can do an intuitive thought experiment. Run pump with empty herb chamber for 15 seconds, then put in herb, pump again into same bag for 15 seconds

We would not see some odd segregated bag, half clear, half vapor, right?

I'm all ears @ChooChooCharlie :). I've done some laminar vs turbulent flow research before and IIRC the velocities required are quite high to get turbulent airflow, much higher than the Volcano hybrid can produce. OTOH, mixing would also depend on flow paths/patterns of the vapor as it enters the bag, and my default assumption was simply that the flow patterns wouldn't contribute to a whole lot of mixing.

That's a good experimental idea :sherlock:... so you could say I have been expecting to see something of a gradient in the bag done that way. So does the bag show a gradient in vapor when done that way? I've never tried or observed.

Mine is still out on loan, so can't take vid of that test. But, the pump is strong, it needs to push

New vapor pushes the confined older vapor out of the way as it's pumped in

Then there's the pressure pushing against the bag, which is pushing back near session's end. We've got lots of pushing and shoving going on in this expanding bag, a turbulent and confined battle

IMO far more mixing happening beyond mere diffusion

I’ve been using mine & I love it.
This is a fantastic improvement, it extracts very quickly & hits hard.

Less air & thicker vapor than the Classic & on 230c it can extract the whole bowl in several huge draws if you’re game, or one very nice bag.

It’s a completely different type of vape from my original with a more usable temperature range for me.
I won’t always need to run it on high like I have to do with the Classic as the conduction seems to make the higher temperatures more satisfying. 220c has been perfect with the whip.

The whip does hold the smell after some use but that’s what whips do. It’s a nice “after vape” smell but used bags don’t really have this issue.

I do wonder if simply fitting conduction rings on top of the OG models and the chamber would give similar results to the Hybrid.

I can’t find anything negative to say about it so far, except unfortunately for me it looks like I have the Bluetooth problem & this one has to go back. I’ve done all the trouble shooting & had to open a ticket.

which is this problem? for me the app doesn´t hold connection when the phone goes into standby, i have to close the app and restart it to get it to connect again, but this seems more of an app problem than with the device itself.

i am still in awe of the device, the effects are just insane, this is a whole new dimension compared to other vaporizers

I enter the serial, it flashes twice & that’s it. Is the VH supposed to auto populate? The Crafty is connecting with no problem.

maybe try to close the app completely and restart it, as i said for me when the phone was in standby it just doesn´t find the Volcano, there is this splash screen where the VH is but it doesn´t establish an connection till i fully close the app and restart it again.

they will surely update the app, seems to be not working like it should at the moment.

but it found the Volcano directly when i entered the serial for the first time

so it appears both evo and volcano hybrid are one of the best vapes just depends on whips or bags or glass water filteration after reviewing what you fellow vapers said I think I am going for the Vapexhale cloud evo and that should pair well with my others mv1 Plenty Tera3 thanks for all your help

it hits much harder than the Mighty for sure. the thing is, with the whip the taste is not so great imo, it is super efficient but for people who want a great taste it might leave them disappointed. but, it isn´t harsh on the throat, very cool vapor and easy to inhale.

This actually concerns me a little. A lot now that I think of it. Taste is super important to me. I actually feel that the terpenes are still vastly underrated. Big clouds seem to be more important to most. I do like those too from time to time. I also like to taste the herb itself. In my Mighty I actually start at 325 sometimes, having a few flavor hits. I also wonder if the Classic, which I own, perhaps gives tastier (yet less cloudy) vapor as it is pure convection.
Surely wish I could try this device before shelling out $700. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so who knows, one of the dispensaries may have a demo at some point.

I'm a flavor snob too. You can still taste the terps pretty good below 420. Now its not as tasty as my splinter or ghost but you can taste the different terpenes even on the second bag. It's really dry vapor vapor though, I'm interested to see what kind of results I get when the glass magma comes this week.

Thanks for that, like I said I’ve done everything, different phones devices etc, toggled to Bluetooth on & off, deleted & reinstalled the App.
If it was going to connect to something it would have by now.

If you read a few pages back, I had the same exact problem, and no one had an answer for me. I ended up calling S&B and they were able to send me a new hybrid as soon as I sent mine in. My new one connected right away! No problem. It has been working fantastic ever since. I am really picky with desktop units, but this one is definitely a keeper. I have bought and sold classics, digits, evo’s , enano’s, eds tnt woodscents, plenty, lsv, etc... the hybrid is the best out of the bunch, miles ahead of all

i have an EQ, a Mighty and sold my Plenty and yes, the Hybrid is the best one of those, the effects and duration are stunning, even with the capsules it does its job perfectly.

really loving the device so far, the medication is just right with the Hybrid!

i really like to use the whip, it is finally what i really wanted from a Volcano, although the bags are great too, i was skeptical at first because i didn´t like the bags with the EQ, but with the Hybrid bags are on another level...

My high from a dynavap doesnt last too long. But from bags last longer. But obviously more herb is used.

You won't be disappointed. Out of all my vapes it's still the best one for flavor. Provides big hits too. I'm sure the Volcano Hybrid is excellent as well(I'm interested so am following the thread). Really can't go wrong.

I put a tissue to plug each end of the whip when finished. Controls the whip smell nicely. Hey gang, anyone try the 10 min freezer bag yet?:D
If you run the empty bowl for 2 min on 446 after each session it keeps the screens really clean.

Yes, but there's no air displacement going on inside the bag either; hence the comparison. Filling a collapsed empty bag is not like blowing air into a house room.

You are WAY overthinking this. Your model would apply to any Volcano.....as initial vapor when the fan turns on will most likely be slightly different than the vapor towards the end of filling the bag as the chamber gets hot.

I just believe, based on my experience with owning a volcano, that as a practical matter, this is not an issue at all. Maybe a bit interesting as a thought exercise but perhaps that's all.

As for it being similar to filling a vacuum bottle, I don't really think so and my experience running them is that once the bag is partially filled there is plenty of room for forced air and convective currents to mix things up a bit.

So, I do not want to insult you or be harsh, but do you own a bag vape and is this direct observation you are sharing or....well, like I said, perhaps a fun thought exercise?

As for this...well, you are an intelligent adult and can make your own mind up about it, but my view is that even with good moderation, you need a pretty thick skin to operate on internet forums. Just the way it is, right or wrong.

Cheers

well, the critic points he makes out are moot...more silent pump? maybe. better bags? those bags are good for filling them fast, thicker material means longer time to fill them.

it just shows that the Volcano design and function was already there 20 years ago. Plastic Ring not sturdy enough? well, the Plenty one is the same, in fact i broke one of those Plenty filling chamber rings when it was screwed on too tight...

i respect the criticism but it seems a bit like he was thinking the Hybrid will be the next big thing when it is "just" an updated, modern version of a classic which well, just works. there is nothing left to make better on the device, it already works just great.

i see the Hybrid more like "if it ain´t broke, don´t fix it" they made a more modern version of a classic vaporizer which is a device known and recognized by many people.

it is the same like an Apple Product, a 2010 Macbook looks very much the same as a 2018 Macbook, the new one is only thinner and faster. sure, if you only wanted to fill some bags and you have time on your hand, get a classic.

if you want that fast heatup time, denser clouds because added conduction and a whip you have to buy a Hybrid.

when they do an updated Mighty, it will be the same, faster heatup/fast hits, maybe a tad smaller, better battery and maybe an better airflow, the product itself will stay the same because it just works.

Plenty one is the same,
No, that is just wrong, watch the video closely, the orange outer ring is flexing with little pressure from Bud, my Plenty orange part is stiff, unable to bend at all, it might break before bending, I only ever heard of one Plenty orange part breaking and that was done by some stoned out halfwit that wasn't me for a change, they only engaged one side lug and kept screwing anyway, probably didn't need another bowl.

Now back to the review, I had written off this as not tasting as good as the original, but seeing Bud using that whip and expressing how functional it is has given me VAS again.
Like the Mighty, not the best taste going around but it is so easy to use I keep grabbing it for out and about.
So Bud says it holds 0.4g, so does it have a smaller bowl size than the Plenty, the Volcano Digit bowl looks deeper than a Plenty bowl?
:peace:
Edit, the little plastic bowl retainers are a prick of an idea on the Plenty, does the Hybrid still use them? I just replaced mine with a bit of bamboo skewer whenever they broke off.
