Hi Ed , in the past i've called you a magician alá Penn & Teller but that does you a disservice . They are illusionists and masters of deception, you however keep it terribly real. Those Rosewood stems that you are offering are some of the most beautifully crafted & exotic pieces you have ever turned . Sure Mother Nature had a big hand in it but you brought them to fruition. I can't wait to see one of those hangin' out here with me in Brooklyn .

Good evening everyone, I hope all is well. Have been back turning WS bodies and working with my kid in the shop. TimberHead Designs had a client wanting a stand and also a debowler, he referred his guy to me. We talked about it and mentioned wanting my son to take on more of a role in the biz and do his own thing. Feel its better for him to earn what he can rather than give what I cant. The client approved letting me hand this job off to my son, was a real treat to have him in the shop with me and see him get excited about doing this. It lit a fire in him that is slowly burning lol, hes not the most ambitious of them all. This is a unique piece the debowler has been a great project for him. It has Paduak body, walnut lid with paduak knob and african blackwood spike. Is just a hair under 2.5" OD with a 2" bore ID. was quite a task for our first time doing this sort of thing and was probably his 4th attempt at it before it finished out right.

Here it is with the stand

Cant tell you all how much time and work goes into a piece like this and how everything has to be just right or its wrong. A couple peices were just a few .001" under and the fit was off enough that it wasnt cool. Some of the bodies were fine and told him to take em home and give em to a friend to be a safe place to put smalls, he says nope its not what its supposed to be and its wrong I am not giving someone something that is messed up. Well I got a piece or two round the shop for my smalls that will remind me of him always.

Cant say it enough thanks much Timberhead for what you did for my kid. I got him on a 4 day work schedule tuesday to friday 2p to 6p, have walnut and mahogany coming this evening hoping he gets a few finished up this coming week, he needs gas money.

Btw this is the retail model he will be offering at my site, is walnut lower, maple spike, walnut lid, maple knob.

@Alexis I feel you are on the right track with your findings. The disc being pushed down would allow for the load to be closer to the heater core and being nearer with improved air flow would give you those results. Keep doing what you do and would like to hear how the rosin fares.

@letter never sent Id like to see that also. Have moved a few not many so may take a bit. Every summer sales go into a slump. Year before last it hit hard and early. This year it took a bit longer for me to feel it due to the many dealers I have. Retail has been slow for a while. Hoping it picks back up soon as the summer is ending kids are going back to school vacations are over, i gots bills thats needs paid.

@Ramahs Hehehe

@macca924 Yes you do and hope thats the case soon as I just sent another shipment that arrived last week. Let me know when ya do.

Ahh @Modicum thanks for reminding me and thanks so much for the kind words, as I said at IG my butt was drawed up tighter than a clam my first time turning it. For those that dont know and havent seen it I got my hands on the most rarest and most expensive wood on the entire earth. Its 5A Honduran Rosewood Burl honestly I had never in my life spent that much on such a small piece of wood. Ive never seen anything Mother Nature has made this nice or similar. Have seen some man made stab stuff that looked like it but natural there is no comparison. I have made a few stems from it by now and a couple WPA for the WS/DV tip

Its said that HRB is more valuable than Ivory, is also bought as an investment like gold or silver. I had never been able to get any due to cost or size. Did have the opportunity once to get a block for a WS was $800 and at the time I was so scared that what if it trashed at any point and didnt finish that would be a hella loss but then what if it did could I sell a $1000 WS???

If anyone is interested I have a few more piece of 5A like above and also some that are close but not quite. Get at me if so or for anything else.

Wish you all the best!

I am also working on a performance upgrade that I haven’t said anything about as I am not one to want to jinx it but have good feelings about it and have it out for testing. Hope sooner rather than later I can be able to make it happen and fingers crossed my guy tells me good news before soon.

Any updates on this ? You made me curious...

There is progress being made and testing being done. Still nailing down the findings atm. Then I will have to get the cores into production then can go to implimentation. Still a bit out but closer than I was. Hang in there bro.

@Ramahs Glad you like the HRB, its a fantastic wood to turn and finish, its a great time in the shop. Stay posted bro.

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017

Yup. Knock my Woodscents off the shelf and you get choked the fuck out...at minimum! lol

Disrespect my Woodscents again and, yeah...I have tools for that nonsense, like my shillelagh

^ I pulled that out of the ground we were digging up for the foundation of a house about 20 years ago. It was in the dry ground not connected to anything and hardening for who knows how long, and that jagged knot on the end feels like a rock. lol.

That's real leather bicycle handlebar grip tape wrapped around the handle end.

Crikey that's a weapon isn't it, it immediately made me think of Fred Flintstone.

I gotta get me a Buckeye Burl one of them. @Ed's TnT ? ;)

Edit- Ramahs, I wholeheartedly take back all the nasty things I have ever said to you. Please don't beat me Fred. :ugh:

but does the enano heater not have a larger diameter than the woodscents?
Yes, about 1/32 inch, which means that the WS will drop right in to the ENano glass. The difference is in depth - the shoulder on the WS is only 1/8 inch deep while the ENano has a 3/8 inch deep shoulder. Due to the shallow insertion, I don't let go of the WS when using it inverted with a gong.

Gosh it’s been go go go here since the move getting settled in and getting the shops back in full operation. Has been quite an exciting time past, present and wow what’s to come.

Starting off with the WoodScents heater upgrade that I will be releasing in the first part of September. For the past few months I have been trying this, testing that. Have gone over what I felt was too much then back to where it’s just right. The new heaters going out will be a 40% increase across the entire temp scale with a bit more on the high end. They still max out in about 5 minutes with a bit more on the high end at 750-760. This is the temp across the heater itself. All settings across the scale have increased so pay close attention to the temp scale in your paperwork with the new units.

I am sure there will be many questions about this change and will do my best to answer any and all as best I can.

Did this beauty live edge Amboyna Burl 2 tone piece for a good guy as a custom job and his first WS. Bench tested and handled the new heater very well.

I also have some glass coming for the WS tip that can be used as a bubbler and nectar collector

Ed-s-Bubbler-Nectar-Collector-Ed-s-Tn-T.png

made in America from my glass guy who does amazing work you all are aware of. I look to have these in had in the next couple weeks so may work out that they are available same time as the new batch of WS.

Have also gotten my hands on a few pieces of Honduran Rosewood Burl large enough for a WS. I have been doing this for almost 13 years now and have only been able to obtain this a couple times or so. the time or two I was it wasn’t large enough, when it was it cost $800 a blank and just couldn’t bring myself to purchase it. These weren’t nearly that expensive but were a long way from cheap.

HRB-WS-Sized-Ed-s-Tn-T.png

I will be turning these very soon. Gotta give you all a heads up these will be expensive, more than I have ever charged for a WS and probably a lot more than you would think but will tell say will be worth every penny and a truly an heirloom piece that will sit atop all others ever made. have 3 left in this and if anyone would like to nail one down get at me and let’s do so.

Not sure how many follow me at Instagram, if you don’t hey pls do https://www.instagram.com/eds_tnt_/ got a couple great videos saved from Ryan of Rastabuddhatoa doing a session having brought in the WS. Like how he uses his and is very similar to my technique and felt it might be helpful to post here

also, 420VapeZone and Eric from Boundless vapes doing a dueling WoodScents live stream a bit back that I grabbed. Was a good time had by them and myself just watching. Shows them using em with other various stems and such. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Really excited to tell you all about the upcoming 3rd annual Make A Wish Raffle/Fundraiser I have coming up the entire month of November. I have gotten with 7 other guys very well known in the industry all working together to make up the greatest grand prize ever. I can assure you its way larger than last years and for one person will be like winning the lottery. One of the guys is throwing in a dozen smaller pieces which will be 12 runners up prizes surely to make entry participation a lot greater.
