Discontinued Ghost MV1

Hi everyone,

Hope you can help with some good advise.
I have the Ghost MV1 for a few months now (Bought in April), and everything has been great. I also own a couple of other vapes, but ever since a friend recommended the Ghost, I was so happy, because I finally felt like the vaping technology is mature enough to replace smoking for a heavy user like me. So after years of smoking many bong bowls a day, I switched to the Ghost MV1, and never looked back. Most of the times, I was getting thick and satisfying vapor clouds, that were just like doing a bong hit. And I was so happy. So much did I invest in this new wonder, that I also purchased 2 extra batteries, a fast charger and a crucible dispenser. My old bong I gave away, and my other vapes were almost never used since.

Life was good until yesterday, when all of a sudden, the amount of vapor dramatically decreased. From thick clouds, I was down to tiny thin unsatisfying amounts of vapor. I immediately switched to a fresh battery but the issue remained. I then thoroughly cleaned the unit, however to no avail. Nothing I do, no matters how much I pack the bowl, loose or packed, no matter how I grind the material, thin or coarse, no matter how clean the unit is, the amount of vapor I get is pitiful compared to what I was getting just a couple of days ago.

I am really sad to not be able to vape as I am used to for the past couple of days.
I'm so invested in the ghost at this point, that I am not sure what to do without it. Nothing compares to it, and it is no longer working as it used to.

Please help. Is there anything I can do? Perhaps it's a firmware issue? Maybe reset can help?

Thanks,

BTW, I am vaping at 220 Celsius.
I tried reducing the temp, and then raising it back to 220. Still very little vapor.
The airflow is clear, and it feels like plenty of air is coming through, but it is as if the air doesn't heat up enough to produce enough vapor.

Welcome to the forum @Mr.Meeseeks!
I am sorry to hear that you are not getting as much vapor like before. Have you started a ticket yet with our CS team? If not, I just sent you PM to see if I can assist you. We want to get you back to vaping!

Well, I am baffled and confused...

Yesterday, I came back from work, and as usual loaded a crucible, expecting nothing in particular.
The huge cloud that I exhaled a few seconds later surprised, shocked and frightened me all at the same time.
As if nothing had happened, and I was not banging my head against the wall for 2 days, trying to vape with almost zero results, the Ghost was once again producing huge amounts of vapor.

As if someone had replaced the Ghost while I wasn't home, because no other explanation could be found.
Just as suddenly as the issue had begun, it was gone, leaving me to doubt my own sanity.
I did nothing that could have caused this issue, but more importantly, I did nothing that could have resolved it.

I took the cooling unit apart, cleaned it, and put back together again.
Still the Ghost worked perfectly.
I then went through 2 batteries, and about 2 grams in a couple of hours, while waiting for the issue to return, but so far it had been working without a hitch.

To be honest, I am terrified that the issue will return, and not sure what to do.
I keep expecting each next draw to be bad, and it is stressful :-(

I would like to thank Nerissa from @ghostvapesofficial for reaching out, and for caring to help me resolve my issue, and as she said, Get me back to vaping.
This is indeed truly amazing customer service.

Hope my next post will be on a completely unrelated subject, and that the ghost in the Ghost is gone.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome!

Have you been using the same strain? I find my unit does much better with some than others.... Another variable might be the humidity of your material. I find my ghost does better with drier products.

Some fresh stuff will vape better from one day to another if you let it sit out in the air for a bit (depending on your location/environment).

I completely agree about different strains producing different results, as I've experienced first hand during my last visit to Amsterdam. While some produce a lot of vapor, others may give close to none.

However, at home I'm using the same strain, from the same source for a long time now. Carefully stored in an air sealed glass jar, with an Integra Boost humidity control packet, 62%.

So my crumble.experience did not go well, I think I pulled to.hard at.first , got two hits then nothing.....not sure if it's the crumble or my draw.....but wasn't really working well...tried crumble in friend's vape pen and got good.hits but ghost hits were not near as thick.....try.again in future...

@Djsleepy you won’t get pen type hits. It’s more of a session that takes me several hits to consume what would go down in one hit with a pen. Lighter, tastier, slower.

on FAQ it says use a "pea" siz ed amt????.....I know it gives 8-12 hits but.that seems like alot...am I wrong?

I did nowhere near that amount so that's probably why little vapor:hmm:?????

Personally, I find 62% great for pressing, but NOT for vaping. let it dry out a bit and report results.

It’s a balance. The only thing you’re trying to avoid by starting with small amounts is overloading and making a big mess. Big loads and slow draws can get bigger hits, but risk mess. Small loads and fast draws lead to smaller hits, with little mess. You’re aiming for somewhere in the middle. Once I mastered it, my draw started slow and built to medium, after the pad was heated and soaked.

Visualize what’s going on inside. You want the extract to melt into the pad, saturate it, and then vaporize out. If you pull too fast, the extract will vaporize as it melts (before it soaks into the pad), and you get an airy hit.

Try this: load the pad with enough concentrate to soak the pad, but not drip through. This is on you. It’s a judgement call, but give it some thought and visualization. Then, when you normally start your draw, give it three short puffs, something like - one second pull, half second break, repeat, repeat. No stronger then a medium pull. You’re trying to deposit heat into the pad. Once it gets to temp, it instantly melts. (This is how it works with all convection vapes with a mesh pad. Once I learned how to do this in a few of them, I could get it in all of them.)

Back to the hit. After the puffs, go into a slow long pull. When you feel the taste and vapor thicken, that’s when you can escalate the draw up to a medium. Don’t be afraid to keep pulling after the buzz...that pad is still hot and vaporizing anything left in it!

It’s still not going to hit like a pen, but I now prefer it, most of the time. I first found it with the Firefly 2, and then played with the Surfer, Square, Ghost, and others. I like the softer, tastier sessions when I want to relax. A pen is great for a quick in and out. But this method is also very efficient, since there’s less mess/waste.

Cleaning tip.....IME I have found you can tell when you need to clean crucible.....when material doesn't fall out easily when using picks....and lids really depends on strain I found....some of the more resinated strains only can go one or two times , I evaluate after.each crucible and then determine if a.brush will do the job or if it is iso time....

Bummer... Latch broke last night. A thin sliver of black plastic dropped out of the oven door area. Now the door does not stay closed.

The door always seemed a little hard to close but it would stay closed.

Miss my vape. Don't want to combust as I am more about the taste than anything else now...thanks to the Ghost MV1.

Does anyone know the procedure Ghost follows when there is an issue that renders the MV1 unusable? I have already started a ticket just haven't heard back yet.

I am so sorry to hear about the latch breaking. Our CS team will take care you. If you sent in a ticket this morning, give them at least, 24 hours to respond. It's Monday, so they may have tickets ahead of you from the weekend.

Nerissa :)
